Raw kicks off with a look back at the Men’s and Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Matches.
In-Ring Segment: Becky Lynch
Lynch makes her way to the ring carrying the Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase instead of the Raw Women’s Championship. Lynch says tonight is no ordinary night for her. She says she is torn between joy and sadness because she is at a point in her life where things are about to change and she has to do something about it. She says she asked the decision-makers to raise the stakes for the MITB ladder match but she’ll get to that. She tells how she walked through these doors in 2013 and she didn’t know if anyone would care about this Irish woman but they did care. She says it was the fans that had her back and the fans that she grabbed onto and it is the fans that deserve to hear this first, she has to go away for a while. Here comes, Asuka.
Lynch tells Asuka she has beaten her when no one else could, she has made her a better wrestler. She tells Asuka last night it wasn’t a match for an opportunity to win the championship, it was for so much more. Lynch unlocks the briefcase and shows the Raw Women’s Championship. She tells Asuka the match for the championship and that she herself can’t fight anymore but Asuka can. Asuka then celebrates with the title as she is now the Raw Women’s Champion. Lynch tells her she is the champion and tells Asuka that as happy as she is to be a champion she might be happier. Lynch tells Asuka to go be a warrior because she is going to be a mother.
My Opinion:
Wow, congratulations to Becky and Seth on this amazing news. That is amazing and I’m beyond excited for them. I know in the future the door will always be open for Becky and I’m sure someday she will step back in the ring but for now, she is getting the greatest joy in life, I’m so happy for those two! Also, congratulations to Asuka as she is now the Raw Women’s Champion. She is more than capable of holding down this division and she is going to have some awesome matches as champion.
Backstage Segment: Becky Lynch
Charly tells Becky she almost cried during her announcement. Rey comes up and congratulates her and tells her having a child is the best feeling in the world. Other members of the locker room come and celebrate with her as well!
Match 1: Bobby Lashley vs Humberto Carrillo: No Disqualification Match
The two lock up and Lashley is able to work a waist lock. He slams Carrillo to the mat and meets him with a slap to the face. Carrillo is backed into the corner but is able to move out of the way of a charging Lashley. Lashley then hits him with an elbow. Carrillo is able to get back in the ring but Lashley stops him and slams him as Carrillo tries to fight back. Carrillo comes back and somehow is able to send Lashley to the outside. Carrillo looks to fly but he is stopped in his tracks. Lashley then goes and grabs a chair but Carrillo is ready as he kicks the chair into the face of Lashley as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Lashley beats down Carrillo in the corner. Lashley then charges him but is met with boots to the feet. Carrillo is able to fight back some with quick shots. Carrillo lands a big kick and sends Lashley out of the ring. Carrillo doesn’t connect flying to the outside but he hangs on and lands a big kick. Lashley fights back grabbing Carrillo and ramming him into the ring post. Lashley backs him up to the post and chokes him with his forearm. Lashley grabs a chair and swings at Carrillo but he is able to duck. Carrillo now grabs a chair of his own and hits Lashley over and over. Lashley is able to roll back in the ring after the attack. Carrillo looks for a big move off the ropes as he gets back in the ring but he is caught in a full nelson. Lashley swings him around and Carrillo has to tap.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
My Opinion:
Lashley looked very powerful in this, although Carrillo showed a lot of heart he just couldn’t do much against Lashley. Lashley seemed unfazed by most everything Carrillo did to him. Lashley is on a roll right now but the question is where will it lead him. He obviously has not been used to his full potential but things can be fixed. I think right now he should be continuing to dominate as he is and there is no reason he couldn’t step up and be a formidable opponent for Drew McIntyre.
Backstage Segment: The Street Profits // The Viking Raiders
The Street profits sit in the locker room and talk about how the Viking Raiders said they can do anything that they could do and do it better. They then say they are taking them on in a two on two game of basketball. Ford says they will be like Pippen and Jordan. Dawkins says or like AD and LeBron. Ford finishes by saying they are up and want the smoke. The Viking Raiders then talk about the game but seem confused about why there are fouls and what they can and can’t do. The game will air later in the show.
Backstage Segment: Asuka
Charly congratulates Becky on her announcement and then congratulates her guest, Asuka, on being the new Raw Women’s Champion. She asks Asuka how she is processing this information. Asuka screams in joy and then celebrates with Kairi Sane saying she is the Raw Women’s Champion. The two then walk off together celebrating.
Backstage Segment: Zelin Vega & Andrade & Angel Garza & Austin Theory
Andrade, Theory, and Garza argue backstage as Vega tries to calm them down ahead of Garza’s match, next.
Match 2: Angel Garza w/ Zelina Vega & Andrade & Austin Theory vs Akira Tozawa
As Raw returns, Garza and Tozawa have already started their match. Garza gets the upper hand and is able to get Tozawa in the corner. Garza lands a big chop and stays in control. Garza then hits him with a knee to the midsection. Garza takes him down. He then is able to stop him and land a huge kick. Garza gets him up top and continues to beat on him. Tozawa gets caught up in the corner and is hit with another huge kick. Garza covers but Tozawa kicks out. Garza now stretches the abdomen of Tozawa. Tozawa screams in pain but fights to the ropes. Garza hits the Wing Clipper and stares down Theory as he does it. He hits the move and then covers for the 1 2 3.
After the match, Garza and Theory continue to argue in the ring as Andrade and Vega try to break it up. Now, here comes Drew McIntyre. McIntyre says he was worried they were arguing. He then asks if they want to fight him and then tells them to bring it, bitches. McIntyre then hits Theory with a Claymore. Andrade and Garza laugh at him. Garza is then hit with a Claymore. McIntyre and Andrade then size each other up as Raw goes to break.
Winner: Angel Garza
My Opinion:
A definite win for Garza as he just ran over Tozawa in this one. It was a very impressive win as Tozawa has really been stepping up in the past few weeks so for Garza to neutralize him as he did was a great showing for him. Clearly Garza and Theory have a problem with each other but this blow-up isn’t a surprise. This group has not been on the same page as of late and they haven’t done much sense of their dominance weeks ago. If they want to be on top they will have to stick together but if they continue to fight they won’t get very far.
Match 3: Drew McIntyre vs Andrade w/ Zelina Vega
The two lock up and neither get an early advantage. McIntyre is able to fight off Andrade rather quickly and take him to the mat. McIntyre hits him in the arm and works him into the corner. McIntyre continues to work his arm as he has him on the mat. Andrade is up to his feet but he is knocked back down by a big elbow strike. Andrade is able to turn it around in the corner but just as he builds offense he is hit in the gut. On the outside, McIntyre sends him off the barricade. Andrade tries to fight back but McIntyre stays with it and slams him into the apron. Andrade now goes under the ring. McIntyre looks for him and Andrade is able to bait him and take him down. Andrade now continues the attack running him into the barricade. He now fights him next to the apron. Andrade then hits a baseball slide as McIntyre tries to get in the ring. Andrade now uses the ropes to work the cross arm breaker.
The hold is broken but Andrade stays on him and looks for a cover. McIntyre kicks out of the pin. McIntyre is able to make his way to his feet. He continues to try and fight back and eventually is able to launch Andrade out of the corner. McIntyre continues to throw him around before hitting him with a big boot. McIntyre now goes up top. He flies off and knocks Andrade down. McIntyre looks for the Future Shock DDT but Andrade blocks. McIntyre fights him off and slams him to the mat. McIntyre covers but Andrade kicks out. McIntyre looks for the Claymore but Andrade slips aways as he sees it coming. Andrade now grabs the arm of McIntyre and hangs it up on the ropes. Andrade then sends McIntyre into the corner hard. Andrade hits double knees. He covers but McIntyre kicks out at 1. McIntyre fights off the hammerlock DDT. McIntyre then hits the Glasgow Kiss. Andrade fights back in the corner. He gets onto McIntyre’s shoulders but can’t fight off. McIntyre then slams him face-first onto the mat. McIntyre now hits the Claymore. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
McIntyre says he didn’t come out here to fight but anything can happen on Raw and he always comes dressed for it. He says he came out to talk about a few things. He tells how last night it was a hell of a fight and Rollins fricken brought it. He says he will keep knocking down whoever comes in his way. He then says people will be allowed to come over from other brands. He says someone is coming over from SmackDown next week and they chose him to face. He says next week it will be Drew McIntyre versus King Corbin. He tells Corbin he will have a Claymore fit for a king, see you, next week buddy.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
My Opinion:
This was a good match between these two but Andrade just couldn’t match up to McIntyre. It seems right now McIntyre is really unstoppable. It doesn’t matter what someone throws at him he continues to get up. More impressively no one is even able to really keep him down for more than a 1 count as of late. I don’t really think people from other brands need to be coming over and crossing between but these are unique times so I guess it’s okay for right now. I don’t see how King Corbin will be much of a threat to McIntyre so I think next week we can expect to see another one lined up and knocked!
Backstage Segment: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are here for a special edition of A Moment Of Bliss, next!
Backstage Segment: MVP & Bobby Lashley & Lana
MVP tells Lashley to stay angry and to stay focused. He tells him the full nelson is one of the most impressive things he has seen in a while. He then asks him why he isn’t fighting the WWE Champion instead of fools from SmackDown. He reminds him he hasn’t fought for the world title since 2007. He tells him he was just getting started here in 2007. He tells Lashley to unlock Lashley. He says marinate on that as he goes and gets ready for his match. MVP then goes up to Lana and says if Lashley is looking for a way out tell him to talk to him. Lana says who do you think you are.
In-Ring Segment: A Moment Of Bliss
Bliss says no your eyes aren’t deceiving you we decided to take A Moment Of Bliss on the road. They then talk about Becky Lynch’s announcement and Cross wishes every mom a Happy Mother’s Day. Out comes The Iconics. Bliss welcomes them and says how crazy it is that a little baby stole your thunder. Kay says they will not be upstaged. Bliss says they are kind, still a big deal. Kay says to not disrespect them and tells them to get ready to defend them tonight. Bliss tells them they can’t just demand a title shot. Cross then tells them the titles are their babies. Royce says don’t out the titles on the line but they aren’t leaving without a fight. Royce says the future is Iconic.
Match 4: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs The Iconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)
As Raw returns, Bliss and Royce start off the match. Royce gets the upper hand and is able to get Bliss in the corner. Kay tags in and stomps out Bliss. Royce comes back in and looks for the cover but Bliss kicks out. Bliss fights back, knocking Kay off the apron. Cross then takes care of Royce and Bliss joins in. Cross now tagged in handles Royce in the ring. Bliss comes back in and lands a big slap in the corner. Back in is Cross but she doesn’t do much as Royce turns the tides. Kay comes in and continues to work Cross. She looks for a cover but the ref doesn’t give one. Royce tags back in and Cross is able to work her to the mat looking for a cover. Royce kicks out. Cross tries again but Royce kicks out once more. Royce gets in control and is able to tag Kay. Royce trips Cross. Kay uses this to work a cover but Cross kicks out.
Kay now works a submission and holds Cross to a knee. Cross fights to her feet and tries to fight out but she is met with a knee strike. Royce tags in but Cross fights back. Cross knocks Royce off the apron. Cross gets tripped up and this allows Royce and Kay to get back on the offensive. Royce takes Cross down to the mat. Cross tries to create separation. The two hit a clothesline on each other and both are down. Bliss tags in and so does Kay. Bliss takes down Kay with a big right hand. She hits the double knees and covers but Royce breaks it up. Cross tries to help but she is sent to the outside. Kay takes a cheap shot to the throat. They double team Bliss and Royce slams her face-first into the mat. Royce covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: The Iconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)
My Opinion:
This is a big win for Royce and Kay but I don’t think this was a great return. The segment didn’t hit the way it should have and although they are obviously a threat to Bliss and Cross as tag champions it didn’t feel like they were. Once they get back into the swing of things I think they will be okay but for now, they start off with a big win in their comeback and it seems as though big things will be ahead for this true tag team.
Backstage Segment: Rey Mysterio
Charly asks Rey, how he is feeling today. Rey says he feels great. He says that he hyped himself up by saying the risk is worth the reward. He says he saw his life flash before his eyes but he was lucky enough to fall to a roof 6 feet down. He says as he got up, his partner tonight Aleister Black met the same fate. He says they realized they had no chance to win after that. He then congratulates Otis on the win. Seth Rollins comes up and Rey says may the best man win the match tonight. He then congratulates him on the pregnancy announcement and says being a father will change your life. Rollins doesn’t say anything and walks away. Rey says what a dick.
Backstage Segment: R-Truth
R-Truth goofs around backstage with his eyes cross-eyed and fake teeth in his mouth as he is Pretty Ricky. He proclaims that he is ready as he is set to team with Cedric Alexander and Ricochet, next.
Match 5: Cedric Alexander & Ricochet & R-Truth vs Brendan Vink & Shane Thorne & MVP
Truth and Thorne start the match. Thorne tries to get to work early but Truth stops him and dances. Alexander tags in and takes it to Thorne. Ricochet tags in and flies off the ropes onto Thorne. Vink gets the tag as Thorne is able to fight away. Alexander who has now tagged in is unaware and Vink is able to beat on him. Alexander tries to fight back but Vink continues to beat him down. Thorne tags in and continues to keep Alexander on the mat. He tries a cover but Alexander kicks out. Thorne now works the neck of Alexander.
Thorne then hits him in the midsection and drags him to the corner. Vink tags in and continues the punishment. Vink knocks him down to the mat with a big right hand. Alexander is able to land a step-up enziguri. Truth tags in and so does MVP. Truth takes it to him and is able to knock him down after a big shot to the face. Ricochet comes in and hits a neck breaker. Alexander flies off the apron but he is caught by Vink. Ricochet then flies off the apron and takes down everyone on the outside. Truth is able to hit the lie detector on MVP. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
*** After the match, Lashley comes out and hits Truth with a spear. He then puts Truth in the full nelson. Lashley drops him and MVP hits him with a knee. MVP and Lashley then leave together.
Winners: Cedric Alexander & Ricochet & R-Truth
My Opinion:
A solid win for the team of Ricochet, Truth, and Alexander. I can’t blame this list on Vink and Thorne though as it wasn’t their fault for the loss. Those two continue to be impressive in the ring and I think they really could be on their way to being key players in the Raw Tag Division. As for the pairing of MVP and Bobby Lashley, I love it. As I said earlier Lashley should be fighting for the WWE Championship so if this partnership with MVP helps him get that then so be it. I think MVP can be to Lashley what Lio Rush once was. This will really help Lashley and it will be a true power team. I cannot wait to see what they do together!
Backstage Segment: Jinder Mahal
Charly welcomes Jinder Mahal and welcomes him back to Raw. Mahal says he is honored to be back on Raw. he tells it has been a long 10 months since his knee surgery. He says he was elated to see McIntyre as the new WWE Champion. He says as a former champion he deserved to be celebrated by the WWE Universe just like Drew. He says his journey back to the top will be a hero’s journey.
Backstage Segment: AJ Styles
Styles looks at the screen which shows a special look at The Undertaker’s Last Ride docuseries. Styles says this oughta be good.
Backstage Segment: Shayna Baszler
Charly asks Shayna for her reaction to Becky’s pregnancy. Shayna says how stupid do you have to be to get knocked up as the champion. She says 10 out of 10 mothers will tell you that having a kid didn’t ruin their careers. She says she became the longest-reigning champion just to have a small little parasite. She says that kid is going to suck, she then says do you know who the father is, I rest my case.
Backstage Segment: AJ Styles
Styles laughs at the tv after viewing the clip from The Last Ride.

Black fights back and takes Murphy to the mat. He then works the arm of Murphy. Murphy is hit with a kick and then taken down by Black. Mysterio comes in and looks for a cover but Murphy kicks out. Mysterio looks for a DDT but Murphy stops him. Black lands a kick to Murphy’s chest. He comes in and covers but Murphy kicks out. Murphy fights back with a big knee to the face. Murphy sends Black to the ropes but Black bounces back. Murphy tries to get Rollins attention. Black uses this to send Murphy to the outside. Black and Murphy then come to standstill. Black comes back and lands a big knee to the gut. He covers but Murphy kicks out. Black now goes back to the arm of Murphy. Murphy fights back and hammers on the back of Black. Murphy continues with big strikes. Black comes back with a huge strike of his own and Murphy falls to the floor. Black now goes to the apron and stares at Rollins. Black then continues the attack on Murphy. Black gets caught up in the ropes and this allows Murphy to land a huge kick as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Black backs Murphy into the corner. Murphy tries to fight back but as he comes off the second rope he is met with a kick. Mysterio tags in and lands a seated senton. He then hits a crossbody off the ropes. Murphy fights back but Mysterio is able to roll through and land a kick to the face. Now on the floor, Mysterio takes down Murphy with a hurricanranna. Rollins then tells Murphy, stay back, stay the hell back. Rollins then continues to attack the face of Mysterio and uses the steel steps to rake the eye of Mysterio. Rollins tells Rey it’s not his fault. Mysterio’s eye is now bloody as he screams in pain on the floor. Rollins walks up the ramp and basks in what he has just done.
Winners: Rey Mysterio & Aleister Black: Via DQ
My Opinion:
What a fight Murphy put up in this one as he had to go at it alone. I liked the team of Black and Mysterio but it felt like they really couldn’t get going as there was a weird vibe to the match thanks to Rollins. Rollins just seems out of his mind right now and it seems odd to even have him out there like this given the announcement earlier tonight. I know Rollins is a key part of Raw but this might have been a good time to give him a break and allow him to go away for a while and regroup. Obviously, things are full steam ahead for him but there is no telling where this is going to go as Rollins has now, snapped.
Backstage Segment: Rey Mysterio & Aleister Black & Seth Rollins & Murphy
Mysterio is being examined in the trainer’s room. Aleister Black stands and checks over him. Rollins comes in looking for Rey. he tells Black he doesn’t know what happened out there. Murphy then pushes back Black and the two start brawling.
Backstage Segment: The Street Profits // The Viking Raiders
We then take a look at The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders warming up for their two on two game. The Street Profits laugh at them as they mess up the alley-oop. As Raw returns, we then see the game between the two teams. The Street Profits smoke them 74-2. The Viking Raiders though they won, but actually had more fouls than points and weren’t even close.
Backstage Segment: Natalya & Shayna Baszler
Natalya asks Shayna if she knows how bad it looks to disrespect the miracle of motherhood. She then tells her she can’t wait to teach her a lesson tonight. Baszler asks her what she knows about motherhood. She then tells Natalya that the Hart Dynasty dies with her.
Backstage Segment: The Street Profits // The Viking Raiders
We then see the post-game of the two on two game between The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders. The Viking Raiders tell them they let them win. Ivar then goes crazy shooting threes and half-court shots. Erik tells them again anything they can do, they can do better. Ivar then dunks the basketball.

She hits one more and then covers but Natalya kicks out. Natalya works a cover of her own but Baszler kicks out. Natalya looks for the Sharpshooter but Baszler fights out. Baszler now looks to break the arm of Natalya but she fights out. Baszler comes back with a huge knee strike. She covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Shayna Baszler
My Opinion:
Natalya tried her best in this one but she seemed way too in her own head and granted that is understandable. Shayna is a master of mind games and what makes her dangerous is that she can beat you mentally and physically. You can’t take for granted what Shayna can do in that ring and once she has a mental advantage, the match is all but over. Shayna continues to get these impressive victories but the question still stands if she can get a big win when she gets another shot at the Raw Women’s Championship. Right now, Shayna seems like a clear favorite for the title and it seems that she doesn’t care who she hurts or offends in the process. For Baszler this is just business and that’s dangerous for every woman on Raw.
Backstage Segment: King Corbin
Charly welcomes SmackDown’s, King Corbin. Charly tells how he will meet Drew McIntyre next week but then asks about last night. Corbin says he was thinking of doing whatever he had to do to become King Money In The Bank. She then asks him about throwing Black and Mysterio off the roof. He says they landed on a second roof and they are both still here and both are lucky. She then asks about his match next week. He tells that McIntyre rode his coattails for a year and McIntyre watched him earn this crown. He says he will show him why he is King.
In-Ring Segment: Edge & Randy Orton
Charly welcomes Edge to the ring. Edge thanks her and then says this is the first time he has stood in this ring in 6 weeks. He tells that the last time he was here was at WrestleMania, the first in 9 years after his medically disqualified. He says he doesn’t live with what if’s. He says that he came back here to end things on his terms, so what’s next? He says he saw the promo video that he was coming to hunt the Viper but he is hunting the Viper, he got his pound of flesh and his family and him are ready to move on. Edge is cut off as Orton’s music hits. Charly then introduces him. Orton tells Edge he came out here to say one thing, congratulations. He tells Edge that at WrestleMania the better man won. Orton then gets out of the ring and heads up the ramp. Orton then comes back in the ring. He says he tried to be the bigger man and just walk off but he can’t do it.
He says he thought they could be friends and ride up and down the roads like they used to but he can’t lie. He says the better man won at WrestleMania but the better wrestler didn’t. He tells Edge that he returned at the Royal Rumble and that’s convenient given he could hide behind 29 other superstars. He then says at WrestleMania he was kept down for a count of 10 but it didn’t take him 9 years to get back on his feet. He says in his opinion those aren’t traditional wrestling matches. Orton tells him it has been since 2011 that he has laced up those boots and wrestled but he tells Edge he doesn’t have it in him anymore. He says Edge has grit and passion but all his grit doesn’t compare to natural ability. All that passion won’t knock off the ring rust and it won’t help him now. He tells Edge if he has the guts it will be Edge versus Orton in a straight-up wrestling match. Charly asks edge if he has a response. Edge says nothing. Charly says if it does happen it may just be the greatest wrestling match ever.
My Opinion:
I like this challenge laid down by Orton and I do think these two will put on an incredible match. Edge seemed hesitant but it’s understandable when he hasn’t wrestled a traditional match since 2011. Edge looks better than ever and we have seen what he’s got in him since his return. There is no doubt he seems ready to wrestle a traditional match and I think he can beat Orton once again. This is quite the challenge but if accepted it is going to make Backlash must watch. I’m glad to see Edge back and I’m looking forward to seeing if this challenge will be accepted, I sure hope it is!
Final Thoughts:
First, I have to congratulate Becky and Seth once again for that major announcement. What a blessing for those two, it’s amazing news and I’m beyond excited for them. Also, congratulations to Asuka on becoming the new Raw Women’s Champion. As I said I think she can run the division just fine and there are a lot of competitive matches for her to have. I think Shayna Baszler is a clear favorite to challenge her soon. Especially after tonight, Baszler has shown she will say and do whatever she has to. She doesn’t care and that attitude like I said has to make her the most dangerous woman on Raw. Asuka and Baszler for the title sounds like one heck of a fight. Tonight, we also saw dominating performances from Bobby Lashley, Angel Garza, and Drew McIntyre. In Garza’s case, his group seems to be on the outs with each other and if they want to go back to their winning ways they have to get that on track quickly. I was happy to see Bobby Lashley out there dominating tonight. He certainly is deserving of a WWE Championship Match and I believe now he is putting people on notice. The teaming of him and MVP can work out well and I’m excited to see where it goes. McIntyre continues to be unstoppable as champion and each week now it’s just a matter of not if he is going to win but more how dominant will he be in his win. I’m also excited to see what Jinder Mahal is going to do now that he is back on Raw. I really think he has every tool to be a key player and I hope he’s allowed to shine as he should. Finally, I loved the challenge laid down by Randy Orton. I’d love to see these two wrestle in a traditional match and I think it would steal the show at Backlash. I can’t wait to see if Edge accepts it! As always I wish everyone all the best, stay safe and healthy, and enjoy NXT and SmackDown this week!!!
Overall Rating: 6/10
