Raw Review 10/12/2020
RAW REVIEW 10/12/2020
Tonight the WWE Draft continues with over 30 Superstars up for selection! How will the landscape of the WWE change as we continue on the road to Hell In A Cell? Set for tonight we will see a cross-brand Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender for Raw Women’s Champion Asuka! Plus, after much bad blood between the two the rivalry between Aleister Black and Kevin Owens heats up as the two face off in a No Disqualification Match! Finally, after being drafted to SmackDown on Friday night Seth Rollins will bid farewell to Monday Night Raw.
Raw comes to us from the Amway Center inside the WWE Thunderdome!
Raw kicks off with us being introduced by Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and Samoa Joe.
In-Ring Segment: Randy Orton
Orton says regardless of whether or not he gets moved to SmackDown or stays on Raw one thing reminds the same and that is in less than two weeks he will be locked inside Hell In A Cell with Drew McIntyre where he will take the WWE Championship from him. Orton says 2020 has been a hell of a yeah but one thing you can’t dispute is that it has been the year of Drew McIntyre. He tells how Drew main evented WrestleMania and became one of the faces of the WWE. He then tells how he pinned Drew McIntyre a week ago and Drew hadn’t been pinned in almost a year. He then proclaims he will beat Drew 1 2 3 in the middle of the cell, take the title and end his legacy. He says he will do that by using the most devastating letters in the WWE, RK… Orton is cut off and here comes Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre tells Orton he doesn’t get that while he was done instead of kicking him in the skull Randy gloated. McIntyre tells Orton that was a mistake because he got back up. He tells Randy that when he kicked him in the head at Clash Of Champions he did it for all the people Randy screwed over. He says when he kicks him at Hell In A Cell it will be for himself. McIntyre then says he promised to kick the crap out of Randy every time they were in the same building and he is going to keep that promise. Mcintyre makes his way to the ring and takes it to Orton. Orton goes retreating to the floor. Orton now takes over and takes it to McIntyre. McIntyre fights back and now bounces Orton off the announce desk. McIntyre throws Orton into the but Orton is able to slip away. McIntyre stands tall as Orton retreats up the ramp.
My Opinion:
This was another hot start to Raw. I love this rivalry so much and I love to see Drew standing tall as the man on Raw. Drew is always up for a fight and I love that he has been able to really show that during this rivalry. Orton also does well in being the perfect foe for Drew as he always wants to take the cheap way but will duck out of the way when things get tough. Orton has shown many times in the past that he can find a way to get the job done but inside Hell In A Cell against a Drew McIntyre that is this fired up will be a tough one for him. For Drew another successful title defense inside Hell In A Cell against Randy Orton, one more time could really be a career-defining moment for him.

Owens goes right after Black and sends him to the floor. They make their way to the ramp where Owens continues to hammer on Black. Black now fights back with a big kick. They make it back to the ring. Black misses on Black Mass. Owens then misses on the Stunner. Owens gets back in control as the two go to the floor. Owens now bounces Black off the steel steps. Black now hits Owens with knee strikes to the face. Black now goes and grabs more chairs from under the ring. Owens tries to grab for a chair but Black stops him. Owens tries to fight back but Black meets him with another devastating kick. Black now misses on a knee strike. Owens now hammers on him with the chair. Owens hits a DDT and goes for the cover but Black kicks out.
Owens again hits Black with the chair. Owens now meets Black on the top rope. Owens looks for the suplex but Black fights him off. Black now hits Owens with the double knees and sends him crashing into the chairs that were set up. Black covers but Owens kicks out. Black goes back to the floor and grabs a table. He now sets up the table in the ring. The two go back to the floor. Black misses on Black Mass and hits the ring post instead of Owens. Back in the ring, Owens hits him with the Stunner. He then hits the powerbomb through the table. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Kevin Owens
My Opinion:
A great first match to start the night as both came out and gave us a hard-hitting encounter. Kevin Owens has been going through a lot dealing with both Aleister and Bray Wyatt so this was a huge win for him. For Aleister Black, I absolutely love this new edge that he has. I also love his new entrance song. There is so much that Aleister Black has to give and I hope we start to see him on the winning side soon. He deserves to be one of the top guys because I know he will always deliver both in the ring and on the mic!
Backstage Segment: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose talk with each other ahead of their appearance on Miz TV, next!
WWE Draft Second Round:
Stephanie announces that Raw’s first pick is Braun Strowman! SmackDown’s pick is Daniel Bryan. Raw then selects Matt Riddle. SmackDown then picks Kevin Owens. Finally for Raw is Jeff Hardy.

In-Ring Segment: Miz TV:
Hosted By The Miz & John Morrison w/ Guests: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke
Miz and Morrison welcome everyone to the show. They joke about the draft picks that have occurred like Heavy Machinery breaking up which Miz alludes to having a part in. They continue to joke and then bring out their guests Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke.
Rose tells Miz that he moved her to Raw to hurt Otis. She tells him that he is ruining people’s lives. Miz jokes around about how the move was good for her. Miz then asks Dana about her friendship with Mandy. Dana says they are friends and there is no jealousy like there was with Sonya. Miz then brings up how they are both in the dual-brand Battle Royal to determine who will face Asuka. Miz says that has to be awkward. Mandy says it’s to make the best woman win. Natalya and Lana then make their way out.
Lana says she has the winningest female superstar of all time. She then calls Natalya the B.O.A.T. Lana then says she is the one with the drama as she has two ex-husbands and an ex-girlfriend. Natalya then says she and Lana are also in the Battle Royal but they didn’t get interviewed. They then take a shot at Mandy for not being a social media influencer. Mandy tells them if they didn’t spend so much time on Tik Tok and spent more time training they could actually win a match. All four then go at it and the brawl is underway. Mandy and Dana stand tall as they fend off Natalya and Lana.
As Raw returns, Miz says things got out of hand with his first guests but he has a plan b since it is the season premiere of Miz TV on Raw. he then introduces his plan b guest John Morrison. Morrison talks about the stuff they will bring to RAw and says there is a lot of speculation that the Dirt Sheet will return. We then hear the music of Lars Sullivan. Lars makes his way to the ring. Miz runs away. Morrison tries to kick him but he is taken down by Sullivan. Sullivan then crushes him in the corner. Sullivan then slams Morrison down to the mat. Sullivan deadlifts Morrison from the ground and again slams him down to the mat.
My Opinion:
A funny segment with Miz and Morrison. I’m very excited to see them on Raw as they really are great in the ring but also on the mic. They are certainly one of the most entertaining duos in the WWE. as for Mandy and Dana I loved the aggression these two showed. They can be stars on Raw and tonight they looked like it. I can’t wait to see what these two can do under the bright lights of Raw. For Sullivan, he continues to make an impact in the ring but we will see what happens with him. He looks great with his size and intensity but there seems to be a lot of rumbles about what he does outside of the ring and that could be his downfall.
Backstage Segment: The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) & The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) & Adam Pearce
Adam Pearce tells The Street Profits and The New Day that the logical solution is that they switch titles. The two teams stall but then make the switch. Pearce says the switch is official. Roode and Ziggler then come up and tell The Profits that they are running to SmackDown before they get what they are owed. Ziggler tells how they deserve the match. Kofi asks if Dolph is saying they want a match with the new Raw Tag Team Champions. Dolph says that’s exactly what he is saying. The teams agree. Kofi and Woods then do the smoke chant with The Street Profits.
WWE Draft Round Three:
Stephanie says it is official that The New Day will defend the Raw Tag Team Championships against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. She then announces that Raw first picks Retribution. SmackDown then picks Lars Sullivan. Raw then takes Keith Lee. SmackDown then picks King Corbin. Finally Raw takes Alexa Bliss.
RAW:
-Retribution
-Keith Lee
-Alexa Bliss
SMACKDOWN:
-Lars Sullivan
-King Corbin
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins Farewell
Rollins says he just wants to soak it in for a minute because tonight is the end of an era. He says he wants to acknowledge how tough of a night it must be for the fans of Raw. he tells how this will be the final night he stands in this ring as a member of Raw. He says you are losing a man who slays beasts and king and who is the purveyor for the greater good. He says most importantly you are losing the best leader in the history of Monday Night Raw. He then says there is no one who can fill his shoes. He says he can tell you it won’t be Dominik or Rey Mysterio because they have also been drafted to SmackDown. Rollins continues on but he is cut off by Jeff Hardy!
Rollins tells Jeff he appreciates the enthusiasm but he was trying to find a leader and that’s not him so get out of the ring. Jeff says he was drafted to Raw so this is kind of his ring so Seth should be the one to get out. Rollins then tells Jeff good luck when he has to face The Freak Lars Sullivan this Friday night on SmackDown. AJ Styles then comes out. Styles jokes and asks Jeff if he stumbled to the ring. Styles talks about how he is the right one to fill the shoes. Rollins argues with Styles before they are taken down by Hardy. Hardy gets in the ring and challenges them to a Triple Threat Match.
Match 2: Jeff Hardy vs Seth Rollins vs AJ Styles
As the match begins Rollins is quickly out of it. Styles gets in control and goes after the knee of Hardy. Hardy comes back with a sling blade. Styles fights back now. Hardy is sent to the apron and taken down by Rollins. Rollins now hits Styles with a sling blade and then a kick. Rollins keeps Styles on his toes and hits him with an enziguri. Rollins now flies to the outside and takes out both Styles and Hardy as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Rollins keeps Styles and Hardy down. Rollins picks up Hardy and bounces him off the turnbuckle. Hardy fights back and now goes up top. He hits the whisper in the wind on both Rollins and Styles. Hardy now hits an atomic drop. He hits the le drop and then the dropkick. Hardy now fights off Rollins. Styles grabs Hardy but Hardy fights back and slams him face-first into the mat. Rollins gets back into it and lifts Hardy. Hardy fights off and takes down Rollins. He covers but Styles breaks it up. Styles now hits Hardy with the reverse DDT. He covers but Hardy kicks out and stays in this one. Styles now looks for the Styles Clash but he is taken down as Styles flies from the top.
Rollins hits the Falcon Arrow on Styles and tries to put him away but Styles kicks out. Rollins now looks for the stomp but instead Hardy hits Rollins with the DDT. He covers but Rollins kicks out. Hardy now goes up top but he is knocked down by Styles. Styles now meets him up there and looks for the suplex. Rollins now grabs Styles. Styles fights off and works the calf crusher. Hardy hits a Swanton Bomb on Rollins. Styles moves Hardy out of the way and covers Rollins but Rollins kicks out. Hardy now gets back into it and hits Styles with the Twist Of Fate. From behind Elias comes out of nowhere and hits Hardy with the guitar to the back. Styles crawls to the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: AJ Styles
My Opinion:
What a match between these three! There were so much excitement and edge of your seat kind of action. I loved the way they went back and forth and each one of them had a shot to win this match. I also loved that this ended in a very unexpected way. It was amazing to see Elias back and it was something that seemed to come out of nowhere. If this is the start of a rivalry with Jeff Hardy I think it will be huge for Elias. We have been waiting for him to breakthrough for a while now and this could be his chance. For Styles, this is a solid win as he returns to Raw and you can expect him to continue to be a top guy. For Rollins, he is off to Raw but luckily his great story with the Mysterio’s will continue on!
Backstage Segment: Stephanie McMahon
Stephanie prepares for the Fourth Round of the WWE Draft!
WWE Draft Fourth Round:

Match 3: Natalya & Lana vs Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose
Brooke starts off the match hot as she controls Natalya and gets her down. Rose tags in and she continues to beat down Natalya. Brooke is back in again, this time Natalya is able to fight back and take down Brooke to gain some breathing room. Lana tags in now and takes it to Brooke. She is able to land a series of kicks in the corner. Natalya comes back in and she continues to wear down Brooke with kicks. Lana now is back in and works the arm and shoulder of Brooke. Lana now taunts Rose and slaps her. Brooke now fights back and gets the tag to Rose. Rose takes down Natalya and then beats down Lana. She then hits a sliding clothesline on Lana. Rose now hits a pump knee strike to Lana. Brooke now hits a senton off the shoulders of Rose. She covers Lana and gets the 1 2 3.
***After the match, Natalya tells Lana she is over it and done. She then leaves Lana crying in the ring.
Winners: Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose
My Opinion:
An impressive match for Rose and Brooke as they really had control for most of that match. They certainly could be in the running to face the titles in the future and they are both powerhouses so they might stand a chance against Nia and Shayna. As long as they keep working on their cohesiveness they really could have something here. For Lana, she did well for a little bit there but it seems Natalya is over her costing them matches. We will see what happens next for them but whatever it is I hope Natalya will do something better.
Backstage Segment: The Hurt Business (MVP & Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander) & Ricochet
The Hurt Business is now together in the back. MVP says it seems like Retribution isn’t here for Retribution. Ricochet then comes up to them. MVP questions him for doing this. Ricochet says he wants to face one of them tonight. He says since Cedric went to the Hurt Business and Apollo could go to SmackDown he could be on his own. He then offers that he will face any one of them but if he wins the Hurt Business will leave him alone and they will go their separate ways. He then says if he loses though he will join the Hurt Business.
Match 4: Andrade vs Angel Garza: Zelina Vega On Commentary
The match begins and Garza tries to get an early upper hand. He works fast but Andrade is able to slow him down and get in control. Andrade wears him down and tries to tire him out. Garza fights back with a big kick but it is not enough to put Andrade away. Andrade reverses Garza and sends him into the turnbuckles. Andrade now hits Garza with a back elbow and sends him to the floor. Garza now gets back into the match with a big DDT. Back in the ring, Garza hits Andrade with the Wing Clipper. He goes for the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
***After the match, the lights begin to go out, and The Fiend’s music hits. Bliss is in the corner staring at Vega and Andrade. The Fiend then comes from behind and puts Andrade in the Mandible Claw. Bliss then does the same to Vega. Bliss and The Fiend stare at each other as Raw goes to break.
Winner: Angel Garza
My Opinion:
A huge win for Garza as he tries to go this on his own now. He constantly shows he has all the tools to be a champion and I would love to see him given more high profiled matches. I really think he can deliver and maybe even having him stay with Andrade for a while would be good for both. However, we will see if Andrade is the same after being attacked by The Fiend and the same for Vega. The Raw locker room better watch out now with Bliss and The Fiend attacking together. I can’t wait to see what these two do next!
WWE Draft Fifth Round:
Stephanie announces that Raw first selects Nikki Cross. She then tells that SmackDown has selected Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. She then tells that Raw selects R-Truth. SmackDown then picks Apollo Crews. Finally Raw picks Daba-Kato.
RAW:
-Nikki Cross
-R-Truth
-Daba-Kato
SMACKDOWN:
-Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode
-Apollo Crews
Match 5: The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) (c) vs Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode:
Raw Tag Team Championship Match
Ziggler goes after Woods quickly and tries to put him away but he kicks out. Woods now is able to hang with Ziggler and take him to the ground. Ziggler tries to fight back but Woods stays in control and tags Kofi. Kofi stays on Ziggler but not for long before Ziggler is able to work the tag to Roode. Roode comes in and goes right after Kofi. Kofi has to battle back and finally creates some breathing room. Roode gets back in control. Kofi is taken out with a big slam. Ziggler then hits the famouser as he comes in but it’s not enough to put Kofi away as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Roode tags in. He then sends Ziggler into Kofi and Ziggler lands a big splash. Roode now hits a neck breaker. He covers but Kofi kicks out. Kofi fights back with shots to the midsection. Roode comes right back and beats down Kofi. Roode now goes up top and hits a big knee strike. He again looks to put away Kofi but he continues to stay in this. Roode now gets Kofi in the corner and drives his shoulder into him again. Kofi finally is able to get away and get the tag to Woods.
Woods comes in hot as he takes down Ziggler. Roode tries to fight back but Woods takes him down. He then stays on Ziggler. He takes both men out and now hits Ziggler with a DDT off the ropes. He covers but Ziggler kicks out. Ziggler fights off Woods now and hits a DDT of his own. He covers but somehow Woods kicks out. Kofi now saves Woods from an attack. Roode gets back into this and reverses the honor roll to hit the spinebuster. He covers but Woods kicks out. Woods now hits an enziguri. Ziggler now takes Kofi off the apron. Kofi gets back into it and takes down Ziggler. Kofi now tags in. they hit the Midnight Hour. Kofi covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston):
Still Raw Tag Team Champions
My Opinion:
What a way to come back to Raw for The New Day. They definitely had to work for this one but Woods and Kofi were so good that it’s hard to stop them. I can see them running the Raw tag division for a while as there really isn’t a team that seems ready to step up. Then, even though they lost Roode and Ziggler should still have a lot of momentum going forward. Now they might actually get their match with The Street Profits. Rood and Ziggler are a good team together and always competitive in their matches.
Backstage Segment: Elias
Charly asks Elias about his return and hitting Jeff Hardy. Elias says his new single is payback and that is for Jeff Hardy. He then brings up how Jeff Hardy hit him with a car and kept him out for months. Charly reminds him that the suspect has yet to be found. Elias doesn’t budge and still insists on going after Jeff Hardy. Elias says he will have a new album called Universal Truth coming out on October 26th. He then says next week he will have a concert and will be unforgettable especially for Jeff Hardy.
Match 6: Cedric Alexander w/ The Hurt Business (MVP & Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) vs Ricochet
Ricochet and Alexander run at each other and both take a big blow. They stay on each other now and Ricochet gets the better of it taking Alexander down. Alexander fights back and pounds on Ricochet. Alexander kicks Ricochet and toys with him. Alexander now hits a snap suplex and goes for the cover but Ricochet kicks out. Alexander now works a submission on Ricochet. Ricochet fights out of it and tries to fight back. Alexander gets him back on the mat and pounds on him. He again goes for a cover but Ricochet kicks out. Alexander now goes to a front face lock. Alexander now grabs the ear of Ricochet and brings him to his feet.
He then knocks him down. Alexander then slaps Ricochet at the orders of MVP. Alexander then gets him in the corner and continues to beat him down. Ricochet tries to steal one now but Alexander kicks out. Ricochet now hits the modified suplex but still isn’t enough to put Alexander away. Ricochet grabs Alexander but he fights off. Ricochet stays with it and continues with the strikes to Alexander. Ricochet hits the Michinoku driver but he lands on the official. MVP now goes to give a chair to Alexander but Ricochet takes it. Ricochet now throws the chair to Alexander and falls down. The ref sees this and calls for the bell.
Winner: Ricochet: VIA DQ
My Opinion
What a hard-hitting match between these two. Of course, it wasn’t a very long match but nonetheless, both of them came to fight tonight. When you mix their speed with how hard they can strike it’s so entertaining to watch. Ricochet and Cedric are two guys who could go out there and really have a classic match that keeps you on the edge of your seat because they just keep going back and forth. I really thought we’d see more of that tonight but instead Ricochet outsmarted everyone. I like the way Ricochet did this because it’s not overdone and every time it’s used it’s always a brilliant move. We will see what Ricochet does now that he’s done with the Hurt Business.
WWE Draft Sixth Round:
Stephanie announces that the first pick in the Sixth Round is Titus O’Neil. Next, she announces that SmackDown selects Carmella. Next for Raw is Peyton Royce. SmackDown then picks Aleister Black. Finally, Raw picks Akira Tozawa.
RAW:
-Titus O’Neil
-Peyton Royce
-Akira Tozawa
SMACKDOWN:
– Carmella
– Aleister Black
Match 7: Raw Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Battle Royal (Dual-Branded) w/ Asuka On Commentary
(Also seen in this is a backstage fight between Drew McIntyre & Randy Orton)
***Before the match begins, Nia says the battle royal is obviously going to be won but Shayna or her. She then tells everyone to save them, save themselves and just jump over the top rope now.
The match begins and everyone goes at it. Nia and Shayna take control. Nia eliminates Tamina. Nia then eliminates Billie Kay. Shayna now takes it to Dana Brooke. Nia now gets teamed up on. Nia now saves Shayna and eliminates Brook and Mandy Rose. Shayna helps everyone trying to eliminate Nia and she eliminates herself. On the outside, Nia sends Lana through the announce table.
***Backstage we see Orton and McIntyre fighting. McIntyre gets in control but now we see Orton fight back and take control as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans fight with each other. Evans gets the better of the exchange and sends Cross to the floor. During the break, Peyton Royce was eliminated. Bianca Belair now tries to take out Baszler. She uses her strength and eliminates Baszler from the match. The Riott Squad now works together and eliminates Belair. The Riott Squad now go after Natalya and Lacey Evans as they are the final four. Both Liv and Ruby are eliminated at the same time. We now have Evans and Natalya as the final. Natalya gets Evans on the apron.
Evans works back into the ring. She looks for the waist lock but Natalya fights her off. Asuka now watches backstage. Evans looks for a suplex but Natalya hangs on. Natalya now bounces Evans off the ring post but Evans hangs on. Natalya now runs at her and she is knocked down but she hangs on using the rope. Natalya then pulls herself back to the apron. Natalya now catches Evans. She bounces her off the ring post and Evans is eliminated. Natalya now celebrates. Lana though comes from behind and eliminates Natalya. Lana is now the #1 Contender.
***After the match, Orton, and McIntyre fight to the ringside area. Orton grabs McIntyre and bounces him off the barricade. McIntyre fights back with rights of his own. Officials now come down to try and keep them separated. McIntyre proclaims to do the same thing next Monday. Raw goes off the air with both men being held back from each other.
Winner: Lana: #1 Contender for the Raw Women’s Championship
My Opinion:
This was an interesting Battle Royal and I’m shocked at the outcome. This is a huge victory for Lana but she was not who anyone probably expected to win this going into the match. I’m not sure how she will fair against Asuka but this will be a chance for her to step up and show more of what she can do in the ring. It should be very interesting next week to see how this one plays out. For Orton and McIntyre this is a perfect way to end the night. The fight between them continues on and I can’t wait to see more of it. There is nothing like two heavyweights fighting just because they don’t like each other; these two are wrestling at its finest.

Final Thoughts:
Another entertaining night for the Red Brand! We had some decent matches tonight and there are a lot of exciting stories happening on Raw. I also love that Superstars such as Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke, and Angel Garza get their opportunities and get their chance to become some of the new faces of Raw. The rivalry between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre continues to heat up and it is amazing to see. This as I said is wrestling at its finest and I love the way they are doing this. The started the show off hot and closed it off hot. This is the kind of rivalry that makes you want to tune in and see what happens next and I love every second of it! As for the draft it did well in shaking things up.
It wasn’t too crazy but there are fresh faces in new places and we definitely will be seeing some next matchups that we haven’t seen much of. I am certainly happy to see the likes of The New Day, Jeff Hardy, and AJ Styles come to Raw. they’ve already made a huge impact and I can’t wait to see what they will do next. I was also happy to see the return of Elias. It’s been a while since we have seen him and I hope we will see him finally get the chance to excel. The main event tonight wasn’t too bad, Lana winning was shocking but we will see what she’s got next week when she faces Asuka. As always I hope everyone stays safe and healthy this week. Enjoy NXT and the season premiere of SmackDown with a special Pre-Show starting at 7:30!
Overall Rating: 6/10
