WWE Evolution 2018 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s WWE Network event “Evolution.” The Women’s Revolution hits a new high. This is a historic night as it is the first ever all women’s PPV event in the WWE. The entire card is featuring female superstars settling rivalries and participating on this once in a life time event. The build up for this event hasn’t been as great as I was hoping it would be. The two main events have had a solid build up and the tag match featuring Trish and Lita have had a decent one but the rest of the card seemed to be thrown together last minute. There seemed to have been a lack of creativity used to create unique matches for this show as most of the woman are thrown into a battle royal. This will be the third battle royal type of match for the women this year. First was the first ever women’s Royal Rumble, then the Women’s Battle Royal at Wrestlemania and now this one. The only one that really holds any significance was the one that took place at the Royal Rumble. However, this show has a smaller card similar to NXT events, therefore there is hope it will really deliver. I’m really hoping for this show to be memorable and a success. Lets get to my predictions.
Women’s Battle Royal

It’s another women’s battle royal to get all the women on the card. There will also be legends returning to be involved in this over the top rope match which will make it fun. The likes of Kelly Kelly, Ivory. Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool, Molly Holly and Madusa will be involved in this match. As well as top current superstars such as Asuka, Carmella, Nia Jax, Naomi, Ember Moond and the IIconics to name a few will be involved. If we’re lucky we’ll get some NXT or NXT UK stars involved in this battle royal like we did at Wrestlemania. Asuka was awarded a title shot after winning the Royal Rumble but Naomi was never given the title shot she supposedly earned after winning the Battle Royal at Wrestlemania. I’m curious if there is some sort of reward for winning this match. If there is will the WWE actually follow through or is this just another Battle Royal? Its hard to predict who will win this but I do believe it needs to be one of the current stars. My mind is saying its going to be Asuka or Nia Jax. My personal preference would be Carmella or one of the IIconics. However, I’m going to make a wild guess and say Ember Moon.
Prediction – Ember Moon
Mae Young Classic Final
Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm

In the second ever Mae Young Classic tournament, the finals will be decided at the first ever all-women’s PPV, WWE Evolution. The finals have come down to Japan’s Io Shirai verses the UK’s Toni Storm. Both women have made an impact and gained popularity in the independent scene. Both women have also most notably competed in Stardom in Japan. There is a part of me that sees Io Shirai picking up the victory and being another dominant Japenese force in the women’s division similar to Asuka and Kairi Sane. Personally, I’m rooting for Toni Storm as I have been a fan of hers for a few years now and this will make her a bigger threat on the NXT UK roster. A show that I feel like they’re currently focused to elevate as another dominant brand under the WWE umbrella.
Prediction – Toni Storm
NXT Women’s Championship
Kairi Sane (C) vs. Shayna Baszler

The NXT Women’s division gets some shine at Evolution. Kairi Sane defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler in the rematch from NXT Brooklyn 4. It was at that event that Kairi defeated Shayna to win her first ever Women’s Championship under the WWE umbrella. I think these two will put on yet another competitive match. This rematch is something I was really looking forward to. However, I’m going to fantasy book with these predictions so we have the potential to make this show really memorable. Therefore if things go the way I want than Kairi Sane would retain here. I guess I would predict Sane retains regardless now that I think of it. I see Shayna making her to the main roster eventually.
Prediction – Kairi Sane
Natalya, Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. The Riott Squad

This match really does feel like something we’d be able to see on an episode of Raw and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the rematch on the Raw that follows Evolution. I love the idea of the Riott Squad involved in six woman tag match but I feel like it would have so much better if they were against a team they would only get to face here. Maybe two of them against Natalya and Beth Phoenix instead of a six-woman tag. Hell you could have had Natalya and Beth have a surprise partner who could have been a current star or a seasoned vet. I would have rather seen Bayley and Sasha Banks have a competitive match to kick off the feud we’ve been waiting for to steal the show than them involved in this six woman tag. Regardless how I feel about the lack of creative thought that went into this historic PPV, this is the match we’re getting. I am gonna go with the Riott Squad getting the victory here. I’d love to see some miscommunication on babyface team which will hopefully lead to a proper Bayley/Sasha feud that we’ve been teased with all year. I really think that if they’re not introducing Women’s Tag Titles, LET THEM FIGHT. they create magic as opponents.
Prediction – The Riott Squad
Trish Stratus & Lita vs. Alexa Bliss and Mickie James

This is an exciting match due to the fact we get to see two legends return and team up for the first time in over decade in Trish Stratus and Lita. They will be facing off against another season veteran in Mickie James who both woman have a history with and the trailblazing Alexa Bliss who has done a lot to cement her legacy already in her 3 years on the main roster. This was originally announced as two separate singles matches with Trish Stratus vs Alexa Bliss and Lita vs Mickie James but however considering a bunch of circumstances it was turned into a tag team match. I am looking forward to this one. There is word that Alexa is working with some nagging but not super serious injuries and also hurt her nose at a live show a few days ago. It will also be interesting to see how much ring rust both Trish and Lita might have. Overall, I think they can create some pretty cool moments during this match. I think just for the feel good moment and the fact that I don’t see any continuation to this feud following Evolution, Lita and Trish Stratus pick up the big win and earn the moment to celebrate in the ring on this historic night that wouldn’t be possible without their years of contribution during a popular era where women’s wrestling didn’t have the opportunity they have today.
Prediction – Trish Stratus and Lita
Last Woman Standing
Smackdown Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (C) vs. Charlotte Flair
Image via WWE.com
Its my favourite rivalry on Smackdown Live currently and this time they settle their differences in a Last Woman Standing match. These two former best friends have been going at each other since the Summer after Becky Lynch had a change of heart and became more selfish with her own ambitions and goals over friendship. These two have great chemistry with each other and knew each other real well. There matches have been good but the last handful have had hot shot finishes to continue the feud where this match is guaranteeing a clean finish. The first woman who can’t answer the ten count by getting back to their feet loses. I think Becky Lynch has really found herself and this is the best she has been in years. I do eventually see Charlotte becoming champion again. I feel like its going to happen before Wrestlemania but I’d love to see Becky Lynch go all the way to Mania with the strap. As for Evolution, I predict that Lynch goes over. I dont know how or if it’ll be done through shady tactics but the reign of Becky Lynch must continue.
Prediction – Becky Lynch
Raw Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey (C) vs. Nikki Bella w/ Brie Bella

Initially when this match was floating around as the rumoured main event for Evolution, I was not on board at all. Do not get me wrong because I am a loyal Bella Twins supporter and a longtime loyal fan of Ronda Rousey. However, the idea of Nikki Bella versus Ronda Rousey didn’t appeal to me at all. I did understand it from WWE’s standpoint and perspective. When putting media coverage in consideration the idea of a former global name in competitive sports such as “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey facing off against a female superstar who has gone beyond wrestling to become a reality tv star, business owner and former participant of “Dancing with the Stars” in Nikki Bella has media interest all over it. It’ll also help with a story arc in Total Divas too involving Ronda Rousey without ever really having her on the show. I see all the potential benefits and natural attraction for the WWE wanting to book this match but initially it did nothing for me as a wrestling fan. In my mind and still in mind Nikki Bella isn’t competition for Ronda Rousey. I love the Bella Twins for their hustle, their love for their fans, for getting better over the years and growing themselves as a brand opposed to just being wrestlers. Although I never really cared for them for their in-ring work. Somehow they got me invested in the feud and match with the way they have creatively written for this feud. They really let these women go at each other with worked shoot promos and they have taken it as their own responsibility to take their feud to social media by taking jabs at each other on Instagram and Twitter. It has really got the fans picking sides and reacting to the harsh words going back and fourth. It really got me into the match but I still think the night ends with Ronda Rousey continues her streak of dominance and she makes Nikki Bella tap out.
Prediction – Ronda Rousey
