GLOW Netflix Episodes 3 and 4 Review
Netflix Original Series – GLOW “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling”
EPISODE THREE REVIEW
WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
Summary: This episode started off with Sam creating and presenting his script, in front of the man (“Bash”) who came up with the idea for the show. He feels that Sam’s ideas are too complicated (they are) so he invites all the girls to a party at his house where he gives them costumes and helps them come up with simple and grossly stereotypical ideas for their characters. Sam gets angry but later on agrees to use the ideas that Bash came up with. At the party Debbie continues to be an emotional train wreck, leading to Ruth helping her into a taxi. They create promo videos for all of the girls, filled with the stereotypes and awkward attempts at promos. All of the girls continue to make their awkward and horrible promos until it is Ruth’s turn. Even though she did no worse than any of them, Sam and Bash agree that her character needs work.
My Thoughts: This was another decent episode, better than the second but not as good as the first. I didn’t have any major problems with it (the stereotypes were gross but the characters who came up with those ideas are supposed to be unlikable) but I wasn’t that into it for some reason. It was decent.

EPISODE FOUR REVIEW
WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
Summary: Bash and Sam announce that the girls are all going to be moving in to a motel together in an attempt to make the whole process work better. Ruth’s roommate is scary Sheila and Ruth is still struggling to come up with a character idea for herself. Carmen’s famous wrestling dad comes in while she was having a funny scene in the ring with Awesome Kong’s character (who is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters). Sam and Carmen’s dad end up in a fight and Carmen agrees to leave (Carmen’s brother was also Tyrus/Brodus Clay which was funny). With some encouragement from Bash she stands up to her dad. Kong’s character comes to Sam to talk about how she is uncomfortable with her character as she doesn’t think people will understand that it is making fun of racist people like Sam claims it is. Tensions between Sheila and Ruth escalate when Sheila puts a dead squirrel in Ruth’s bed. This leads to Sheila opening up about how she feels that spiritually she is a wolf. After getting in a huge fight with her husband Debbie brings her baby to the motel with her. She finds Ruth sleeping alone outside to end the episode.
My Thoughts: This episode did a good job at humanizing a lot of the characters, especially Sam and Debbie. This was the best episode since the pilot and made a lot of the characters a lot more like-able for me. The only real problem with it was that there were a lot of random scenes that I didn’t really understand the purpose of and there was just a lot going on which was weird as there was very little going on in Episode 3. It was also kind of weird how there was very little if any in ring stuff.
