Impact Wrestling is NOT TNA
Impact Wrestling is NOT TNA
In December 2008 I came across TNA for the first time while flipping through channels. I was immediately drawn to the unique presentation, the many wrestlers I knew and some that I didn’t such as AJ Styles and The Beautiful People. Within a few months it was my favorite wrestling company and by 2013, when the promotion began struggling financially as a result of the failed attempt to take Impact on the road, I was one of the few people who stuck with them. I was one of the few people who stuck with them when AJ Styles left and when Spike cancelled them. I was one of the few people who stuck with them when their relationship with Destination America was destroyed within the first six months. Through all of this I maintained hope that one day the promotion would get better and be able to thrive. I mostly enjoyed the product that was being put out no matter what was going on backstage and I regularly supported the promotion by buying merchandise. When they came close by me in late 2013 I had one of the best nights of my life, meeting tons of my favorite wrestlers and buying a huge amount of merchandise. Aside from low points such as the late 2015 World Title Series I really did usually enjoy Impact and I was dedicated to supporting the promotion due to all the great people working there. The amount of great people who were dedicated to helping the company grow motivated me to do everything in my power to support the company. I became known for my dedication to TNA through all the ups and downs. But when classless people like the Jarrett’s take over the promotion and tons of the good people who have been working for years to build the promotion leave within a week it is hard to maintain that faith and support. It gets even harder when the first taping under the new regime is a complete disaster. But this is bigger than one television taping (believe me, I could write a whole article about why that taping was a complete mess if I wanted to).
Jeff Jarrett is a con-man who’s most recently known for a failed wrestling promotion/pyramid scheme. There are still people I love and respect who work for Impact Wrestling including Allie/Cherry Bomb, Sienna/Allysin Kay, Trevor Lee, Gail Kim, and many others but this is not the company I’ve loved for years. The way the new regime handled the situation with the Hardy’s was disgusting and they deserve all the backlash they are getting for that, and I’m sure those situations aren’t far off from how negotiations with Drew Galloway and Jade went. TNA will always be my favorite company of all time but as more and more people leave and are replaced with mediocre friends of Jarrett I will care less and less about what happens to this mess known as Impact Wrestling.
