NJPW Best of Super Juniors Day 6 Review
Since this was not a love show we again only get the tournament matches which i’m all good by. No useless tags and filler, just the stuff that counts. And man do some of these matches sound like bangers. Let’s get it rolling.
Marty Scurll vs TAKA Michinoku
This was a pretty fun match here between two great talents. The antics of Marty Scull continued here as he played around with TAKA a bit but TAKA wasn’t playing any games. Both guys looked good here and they put on a solid match. Scurll wins and gives him 6 points which for now has him in first place of the A Block.
Match Rating: ***1/2
Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs Will Ospreay
It’s a sad day as the legendary Jushin Liger has been officially counted out of contention of his last ever BOSJ tournament. Sad it had to end like this but if it’s any consolation it was a pretty good match. Ospreay isn’t my favorite wrestlers in the world and that’s putting it lightly but him showing respect to Liger after the match was a nice gesture. This match gives Ospreay gives 6 points so he is currently tied with Scurll for leader in the A Block
Match Rating: ***2/3
Taichi vs Hiromu Takahashi
So they got Takahashi wrapped up in Taichi’s nonsense? God damn it Gedo what are you doing my guy. Ok, i’ll chill on Taichi here as the miracle has happened as there is a good Taichi match in this tournament. They did some antics such as Hiromu putting tights over Taichi’s face and kicking him. They got that over with and moved on and had a pretty good match. Taichi kicked out of the Time Bomb and I got heated. It’s all good though because Takahashi won anyways.
Match Rating: ***3/4
Ricochet vs Dragon Lee
This match was absolutely phenomenal. I mean you put two of the best Super Junior’s in NJPW and what do you expect? I really dug the ending as Dragon Lee keeps finding new ways to transition into his finish. Dragon Lee picks up a win in a must see match. Dragon also has 6 points after this victory so after the end of day 6 there is a 3 way tie for first place of the A Block with Dragon Lee, Ospreay, and Scurll.
Match Rating: ****
I really enjoyed this show a lot. A lot better than the two other auditorium shows before. I wouldn’t say this is a waste at all. Ricochet/Dragon Lee is definite MOTN but Taichi/Takahashi and Ospreay/Liger were good too. A show to check out of all them for sure.
