NJPW Kizuna Road Show Review 06/27/17
Here is the 6/27/17 show!
Yoshinobu Kanemaru and TAKA Michinoku vs Hirai Kawato and Tiger Mask IV
Hirai Kawato continues to get him and his partners in trouble by getting too eager and running to the ring only to be met by Suzuki-Gun members. Kawato as per usual takes a beating but shows a lot of fire and promise for a young lion. TAKA locks in the Crossface on Kawato to get the victory.
Match Rating: ***
Yuji Nagata, Manabu Nakanishi, and Tomoyuki Oka vs Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima, & Jushin Liger
This was alright but not for me. Oka gets worked over for a bit by Kojima and Liger. He gets away by dragging Liger to the corner and tagging in Nakanishi. Oka got to show off a little here but it was mostly the old dads fighting. Nagata and Kojima going at it was fun though. Nice ending sequence with Nakanishi having a Torture Rack on Liger, Oka having a crab on Kojima and Nagata having a crossface on Tenzan. Kojima eventually puts Oka away with a Lariat
Match Rating: **1/2
Togi Makabe & Katsuya Kitamura vs. Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano
Big boys Togi and Kitamura tagging up should be awesome. Togi and Kitamura start it out attacking Yano and Ishii. Ishii and Kitamura go at it with stiff chops and forearms. Nice intensity shown from Kitamura here and Ishii seems to think so as well. Other than that it seemed like an uninspired performance.
Match Rating: **
Hiroshi Tanahashi, Juice Robinson, Ryusuke Taguchi, & David Finlay vs. Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, SANADA & Hiromu Takahashi
This wasn’t as good as these matches have been known to be but still solid effort. Taguchi continues his forgetfulness as he still can’t lock on the Paradise Lock and not even Tanahashi could lock in the maneuver and this allowed for LIJ to take advantage in the match. It got chaotic towards the end and led to SANADA locking in the Skull End on Finlay for the win.
Match Rating: ***1/2
Kazuchika Okada, Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Gedo vs. Minoru Suzuki, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Taichi & Desperado
This was a continuation from the last CHAOS vs Suzuki-Gun tag match and Suzuki vs YOSHI-HASHI. Just all out brawl between these two stables and even had an enjoyable sequence between Okada and Suzuki. HASHI and Suzuki went at it as well with no love lost at all between the two. Nice finish sequence to end a solid tag match.
Match Rating: ***3/4
KUSHIDA vs. BUSHI
This is another title match that was built from Dominion. After KUSHIDA won the belt back from Hiromu Takahashi, after that BUSHI made his intentions clear and that was that he wanted a title match with KUSHIDA. This match was honestly awesome and definitely worth the watch. These guys never have a bad match and it wasn’t any different here. While KUSHIDA is dope, I was rooting for BUSHI here and I really thought he had it. The finish was so awesome, with BUSHI going for the MX but KUSHIDA reversing it into the Back to the Future.
