NXT Live in Sydney Review
NXT Live in Sydney Review
Hey guys. Declan Dimi here with my NXT Sydney review. I went to NXT on Tuesday night for their final show in Australia and it sure was an interesting one. Here is my review!
The doors opened at 5:30PM and I got there around 6:00PM. I managed to get the merchandise I wanted. I purchased a DIY shirt, Revival shirt, Nakamura shirt and a Dillinger shirt. I also got a Program, a Match Card signed by everybody who was there and a signed Nakamura photo. I also made signs for Oney Lorcan, Tye Dillinger and DIY.
The show began at 7:35PM.
Match 1 – Akira Tozawa vs Andrade Cien Almas
Tozawa made his way out first to a MASSIVE pop. Andrade got a mixed reaction. Akira’s random screaming during the match got him over. Whenever he screamed, the crowd mimicked it back. These two did a GREAT job of keeping the crowd invested, and the finish came when Akira Tozawa won with his finisher.
Winner – Akira Tozawa – 7/10
Match 2 – Peyton Royce and Billie Kay vs Aliyah and Liv Morgan
Peyton and Billie made their way out to a huge face pop, as they are from Sydney. They cut a promo about how they are overwhelmed to be here. They then turn heel (in Sydney) and announce that they want to be announced from Florida, not Sydney to huge heat from the crowd. Aliyah and Liv Morgan then made their way out. This was terrible. Not much to talk about but Royce and Kay won.
Winners – Billie Kay and Peyton Royce – 3.5/10
Match 3 – Oney Lorcan vs Blake
This was meant to be Oney vs Almas, and Akira vs Blake earlier, but they got swapped. Oney dominated most of the match, and won with his finisher
Winner – Oney Lorcan – 6/10
Post Match, Oney was getting his shoulder checked, before Patrick Clark made his way out (I was the only one cheering for him). He challenged Lorcan to a match, before pushing him around before Lorcan accepted
Match 4 – Oney Lorcan vs Patrick Clark
The match was like 1 minute. Oney won with his finisher
Winner – Oney Lorcan – 1/10
Post Match, Clark was getting ‘Wanker’ chants, after he called Oney a wanker before the match
Match 5 – Tag Team Titles – DIY (c) vs The Revival
This was meant to be DIY vs TM61, but it got changed. Big cheers for both teams. DIY pointed at my sign during their entrance which was awesome. Great match. Up there with their Takeover matches. DIY won after their tandem finisher. They then posed for photos with everybody and ringside. I sprinted down from my seats down the stairs to get a photo with them. I was right up the back of the ramp, near the top of the stage, as I called their names. Gargano made his way to the back, but Ciampa saw me wearing their shirt, and looked for Gargano but he had left, so he came over for a photo with me! I was ecstatic.
Winners – DIY – 9.5/10
**INTERMISSION**
Match 6 – TM61 vs Tino Sabatelli and Riddick Moss
This was meant the be Tino and Moss vs The Revival. Much like the women’s tag, this was terrible. TM61 won with their finisher.
Winner – TM61 – 4.5/10
Match 7 – Women’s Title – Asuka (c) vs Ember Moon
This was insane. They had equal offence. This was a hard hitting match. Cannot wait for their Takeover match one day. Asuka won with a sleeper.
Winner – Asuka – 7.5/10
Match 8 – Elias Samson, Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe vs Murphy, Shinsuke Nakamura and Tye Dillinger.
This was meant to be Murphy vs Samson and then an NXT Title Fatal 4 Way Match. When it was announced as a 6 man tag, the crowd went crazy. Booing and chanting ‘Wheres Our Four Way’. Samson made his way out, and sang a few songs before the lights went out. We then heard a Piano play, as the biggest pop of the whole night occurred, as Bobby Roode made his way out as the crowd sang his theme song. Joe then made his way out to a huge pop. Murphy then got almost no reaction, before Tye made his way out to a HUGE Pop and 10 chant. Nakamura then made his way out to a large pop, as the crowd sang his theme. The crowd started chanting 4,4,4 (as we wanted the four way), before Samson climbed to the top rope and starting screaming 6,6,6 to laughs and heat. The match was terrible. Just headlocks and stalling. The faces got the win after a Kinshasa to Samson
Winners – Nakaura, Murphy and Dillinger. 5/10
Post match, they thanked the crowd before posing for pictures. Murphy and Naka stayed for a while, but Tye left quickly. I managed to get a picture with Nakamura as well!!!!!!!
Overall, it was an awesome night. Some solid matches. Was not happy at all with the match changes. 7/10
