Over the Edge 1999 Review
WWF Over The Edge 1999 Review
X-Pac and Kane vs. D-Lo Brown and Mark Henry for the World Tag Team Championship:
X-Pac is super over and the crowd hates D-Lo. Kane pulled off a dropkick at one point which was highly impressive considering Kane’s size. Kane also leaped off the top rope to the outside and that was a sight to see. This was surprisingly pretty fun considering none of these men aren’t necessarily the best wrestlers, but X-Pac is fun to watch, Kane pulled off some really impressive moves, and all the men played their part. Not bad at all, actually a pretty good opener.

Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly for the Hardcore Championship:
This wasn’t the best hardcore match. It was fun for the first few minutes with the brawl up in the concessions area, but once it got back to the ring it slowed way down and the crowd was totally dead. The whole last few minutes was just delaying the inevitable with the table spot to finish the match. Not bad but not the most exciting hardcore match I’ve ever seen.
Rating: **
Jeff Jarrett and Debra vs. Val Venis and Nicole Bass:
This was pretty bad to be blunt. The stuff between Debra and Bass was horrific and the wrestling between Jarrett and Venis was nothing special. This match almost put me to sleep.
Rating: 1/4*
Billy Gunn vs. Road Dogg:
I feel bad for saying this, but this was a snooze fest. I was dozing off during this not only due to the dead crowd but the dull action between these two. Not bad but not fun to watch.

The Corporate Ministry vs. The Union in an 8 Man Elimination Tag Team Match:
Oh lord, The Union, haha. This was a very odd match. The eliminations were highly questionable and just weird, even JR and King seemed confused. The match was slightly enjoyable but nothing to write home about.
Rating: *3/4
The Rock vs. Triple H:
The whole match was just Hunter working Rock’s injured arm in a slow fashion. It wasn’t bad at all but obviously these two have put on much, much better matches together. The DQ finish made this even worse. This wasn’t exciting or memorable. The post-match was more entertaining than the match itself.
Rating: **3/4
Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker for the WWF Championship:
This was super messy and had no structure whatsoever. It was fun for what it was but nonetheless it was very overbooked with the several referees and Shane, Vince, Brisco, and Patterson. It was too much for my liking and the finish was horrendous.
Rating: **3/4
Overall it was a pretty horrific show. I didn’t enjoy it much at all. The dead crowd and low vibe made sense with the whole Owen situation and it might’ve just been a good idea to cut the show off after learning of Owen’s death.
