PWG All Star Weekend 12 Night 1 Review 3/4/16
PWG All Star Weekend Night 1 Review
Hey guys, it is Josh Masterson, the internet’s resident TNA and EVOLVE freak. A lot of people think that I hate PWG because I’m more critical of it than most people. If I hated it than this wouldn’t be the tenth show of theirs I’ve bought, just saying. Also if I did dislike the promotion, which I don’t really, I would have every right to considering I’ve bought more than enough of their shows to form an opinion.
Trevor Lee vs Chuck Taylor
This was a match that happened. It had like two cool moments but was nothing remotely special. Chuck didn’t really do any comedy which was a plus but this was average at best to me. **
Chris Hero vs Evil Uno
I didn’t know what to expect going into this because I hadn’t seen Evil Uno before but Chris Hero is probably my favorite wrestler in the world and can have a good match with pretty much everyone. This was so good, I enjoy watching Chris Hero beat people up more than any other wrestler. The whole match with all of Uno’s antics you knew the match was gonna break down and become crazy and it did. Extremely fun match, Hero once again proving that he is quite possibly the best wrestler in the world. ****
Trent Beretta vs Drew Galloway
This took a long time to get going but once it did there was some really good stuff. Trent going for the knee and Galloway turning it into a buckle bomb and the suicide dive being reversed into a belly to belly suplex were really cool spots. I didn’t like it as much as other people seemed to but it was a good match once it got going. ***
Roderick Strong vs Mark Andrews
This was a fun match for a while but it went longer than it needed to and got sloppy at the end. Other than that it was a good match, Andrews played his role well and of course Roddy is so good at his heel character. ***1/4
Kyle O’Reilly vs Marty Scurll
I love Kyle O’Reilly and I’ve enjoyed the little I’ve seen of Scurll, but this match never clicked for me. There was some decent stuff but it just didn’t work for me overall. It felt really long and a lot of the spots that the crowd went completely crazy for made me cringe. I don’t know why I just didn’t care for it. It kind of felt like they tried to do too much. I’ve seen people who really liked this and people who didn’t at all, sadly I’m part of the latter. They both worked really hard but it was sooo long. **
Zack Sabre Jr vs Adam Cole
I was so incredibly excited for this match and it definitely was not a let down. I love both of these guys and they completely killed eachother in this match. The leg work done by Cole was fantastic and I loved how he basically shut down Sabre’s offense for the first part of the match. No matter how many times I see Sabre do his submissions where he works the arms/hands it makes me cringe every single time. Earlier I said I love watching Chris Hero beat people up more than anyone, Sabre is #2. Cole did amazing in this match as well and I loved it so much. ****1/4
Young Bucks vs Ricochet and Matt Sydal
This was pretty much the crazy spotfest you would expect. There were a lot of cool spots and all 4 men did great. Ricochet showed that he is quite possibly the best high flyer in the world, the Bucks showed that they’re quite possibly the best tag team in the world, and Sydal showed that he is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world. ***3/4
Final Thoughts: This was a very good show, probably one of if not my favorite PWG show I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen a lot of people who didn’t like the matches I loved as much or people who loved the matches I didn’t like as much but I haven’t seen one person who didn’t love the show. Such a great show, I definitely recommend it.
Final Rating: 7.5/10
