Q&A with 1/2 of MBK, Matt Travis
What made you want to be a wrestler?
“It’s weird cause I didn’t intend to ever be one even tho I loved it. It just happened out of the blue & I picked it up so fast. Felt like it was meant to be.”
Who are your influences in wrestling?
“I got a lot of influence as a child from Scott Hall, Vampiro, Scott Steiner, Eddie Guerrero, Jericho, Psicosis, Liger, Muta. Of course Amazing Red. As I started learning and respecting the business more, I started loving the science of strikes & grap art way more. People like Regal, Malenko, Kawada, Misawa, Inoki, Minoru Suzuki, Sakuraba & Shibata.”
What are your current and future goals in wrestling
“Goals… Next few years to be honest I see myself getting more focused and bringing more respect back to the culture. Of course winning some belts but I’m tryna wrestle the best talent, help make House of Glory bigger & travel to Japan. I’m only 22 right now so I got so much time to gain a lot.”
Where did the influence for yours and Ken Broadway’s gimmick comes from?
“Tbh it’s not a gimmick it’s legit who we are. Bunch of kids from the ghetto doing what ever we want. Kens from Harlem, I’m from the South Bronx, we grew up loving the same things MMA, fashion & wrestling.”
What is your ultimate dream match?
“Dream matches – I always said if I wrestle Liger I would retire. He said he had 5 years left when I started 2 years ago I got 3 years to make that happen.”
What is your ultimate goal?
“My main goal, I wanna win Best of the Super Jrs. For me that’s very important, more then anything else.”
