Q&A with Riebell
What inspired you to be a wrestler?
“Well I grew up idolising wrestling as a kid but it was actually because of Edge that I wanted to become a wrestler. I remember my first time watching one of his matches was at wrestlemainia 17 where he speared Jeff hardy mid air of the top of a ladder and it honestly was a mental switch from then, I became so fascinated with wrestling that it I could stay focused on anything else ?”
What is your dream match?
“One of my dream matches actually was/ still is to face Demi Bennett who’s from Australia, she just recently got signed to the WWE and I wasn’t able to have that opportunity to compete against her in ring yet.”
Did you ever want to be anything else other than a wrestler?
“I went to college to study Media Journalism once I graduated from high school. Because of the other love of my life, MUSIC, I wanted to use this field to travel and become a music journalist. Sadly I began to realise it wasn’t for me. I couldn’t see myself pursuing this career anymore and it wasn’t making me happy.”
Any advice you would give to someone who wants to be a wrestler?
“My advice would be to do what makes you happy and do not let anyone decide your journey for you. I wanted to become a professional wrestler all my life and when I finally built up my confidence to share my goals with my friends, I was laughed at, my family were angry at me and I even had my teachers tell me that it wasn’t a real career to pursue and that I needed to be serious with life if I ever wanted make a stable living. This sport is amazing. The best advice I received was do not be afraid to ask anyone for advice, no matter how silly or small of a question is. There so many great and talented workers who I’ve learned so much from and the first thing I learned is to work to my strengths and keep training, study who you would like to be in ring & trust yourself.”
What is your goal, wrestling wise?
“My goals are to keep fighting, one foot in front of the other everyday and to grow as a strong in ring competitor. I’ve been in this sport for almost 2 years now and the fire in me is what keeps me going.”
Favorite part about being a wrestler?
“My favourite part of being a wrestler. I love continuing to learn in this sport and performing in front of a crowd who admire and love this sport just as much as I do. I love that wrestling can bring together so many people who share that love and passion, there’s no other feeling to describe it.”
