Will McIntyre be done with Orton or will this rivalry continue on? Plus, what is next for Retribution after their official debut last week? We are also now building towards the 2-Night WWE Draft (Oct 9th/Oct 12th) and Hell In A Cell (Oct 25th) later this month!!!
Raw comes to us from the Amway Center inside the WWE Thunderdome!
Raw kicks off with the entrance of Ric Flair and us being introduced by Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and Samoa Joe.
In-Ring Segment: Drew McIntyre Celebration: Drew McIntyre & Ric Flair & Big Show & Christian & Shawn Michaels
HBK welcomes everyone to Raw and then introduces the man who defeated Randy Orton last night at Clash Of Champions and still WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre! Here comes McIntyre!
McIntyre says this is pretty cool and says he is standing in the ring with 4 legends. He tells that he didn’t expect to see them last night but that was pretty cool too. He then tells how he has known these guys for years. He talks about his relationship with Christian going up and down the road together. He then tells how Big Show was like a brother to him and always there for him. He then says how Shawn is a mentor to him and always looked out for him in NXT. He then talks to Flair and says how cool it was to be on the same roster as him when he debuted.
He then says what brought them together was their disdain for Randal Keith Orton. He tells how last night he put his ass in an ambulance and he still stands here as WWE Champion. HBK says one of the reasons they came out here was to thank him for whipping that Randy Orton ass. HBK says they got together last night because they wanted to even the odds and get a little revenge on their part. He then tells McIntyre if he is upset about them interfering it was the Nait’s fault. McIntyre says he already proved he could beat him at SummerSlam so he didn’t mind.
Orton comes on the screen and tells him to enjoy this because it won’t last. He says it’s not over until he says it’s over. He tells that McIntyre has no idea what hell is but he will find out. Randy tells him he won’t be done with him until he is WWE Champion. McIntyre asks him if he is going to beg for another match. Orton says he doesn’t have to when you’re Randy Orton. He then says he is only here to show them there is a price to be paid when you mess with the Legend Killer.
Orton then grabs his suitcase and leaves the building. McIntyre jokes about it being a shame that Randy Orton has left the building. McIntyre then tells how he is going to be a fighting champion and he is offering an open challenge tonight to anyone who wants to face him for the WWE Championship. He then tells Ric to not let them have too much fun before he gets there tonight. He then says please, somebody, step-up.
My Opinion:
I loved Orton and McIntyre’s match last night and it was certainly cool to see all of legend’s back for revenge. I was happy Drew won last night but I’m not surprised this rivalry continues on. I think there is still a lot to be done with Orton and McIntyre and I’m excited to see what they will do next. It seems they might be setting up for a Hell In The Cell Match and I really think they can deliver in that kind of environment. I also loved that McIntyre continues to be a fighting champion and keeps the WWE Championship as important as it should be.
Backstage Segment: Zelina Vega
Kayla asks Zelina about being a poor sport when she came up short. Vega stops her and says she is just getting started here. She tells that everyone will feel sorry for Asuka when she beats her tonight. She says she will prove she is ready for Asuka but Asuka is not ready for her. Asuka walks up and tells her she is ready for her. Then two then argue and have to be separate. Their match is next!
Match 1: Asuka (c) vs Zelina Vega:

Asuka charges in but Vega is able to take control as the match gets underway. Asuka is able to fight back but neither gain much ground before they are separated as they get to the ropes. Vega now works the arm of Asuka. She gets her down to the match and works a modified octopus. Asuka now tries to defend but she exposes her ribs and Vega takes advantage. Asuka turns it into a cover but Vega kicks out. Vega tries to fly to the outside but she is met with a kick by Asuka as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Vega toys with Asuka and slaps her. Asuka comes back with strikes of her own and lands a vicious knee to the face. Asuka now hits the hip attack. She follows with a release German suplex. She lands a kick for good measure. The cover and a kick out by Vega. Asuka goes to a waist lock now. Vega breaks the hold and then ducks a kick from Asuka. Vega now goes back to targeting the arm of Asuka. Asuka tries to fight out of the submission hold but Vega keeps it locked in. Asuka finally fights out slamming Vega to the mat with a big suplex. Asuka now lands a series of kicks to the side of Vega’s head. Asuka stays on Vega and looks for the Asuka Lock. Vega breaks the hold by getting to the ropes. Vega now comes from behind and hits the backstabber. She covers but Asuka kicks out. Vega goes up top now and looks for the moonsault but Asuka gets her knees up. Asuka now locks in the Asuka Lock. Vega taps out.
Winner: Asuka: Still Raw Women’s Champion
My Opinion:
This was a good match between these two. I loved both of their striking ability and the way the match flowed. Zelina has a lot of potential and she showed that she definitely has a wide arsenal she can pull from. I’m excited to see her continue to ascend her single’s career and I really think she can be a top competitor soon. As for Asuka, she continues to be as smooth as can be in the ring. It certainly looks like no one is ready for her and no one seems ready to step up and take the title from her. Maybe with the Draft, someone will step up and be the next star on Raw. if not I think Zelina will fill into that role sooner than later if given the chance.
Backstage Segment: Ric Flair & Big Show & Christian & Shawn Michaels
The four of them are seen in the back playing a game of poker.
***Only Superstars who haven’t challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship are eligible for the Open-Challenge tonight!
In-Ring Segment: Andrade
Andrade tells Zelina she is nothing without him. He tells her she blames in for everything but look at you now. He then mocks Zelina for losing to Asuka. He then tells how he is the greatest in WWE and asks who wants to face him. Here comes Keith Lee!
Match 2: Andrade vs Keith Lee
Lee uses his power to get the advantage over Andrade early. He manhandles him and keeps control. Andrade now uses elbow strikes to fight out. Andrade gets him in the corner and continues to hit him with massive strikes. Andrade now attacks the knee of Lee. Lee comes back with a huge crossbody. He then crushes Andrade in the corner before tossing him across the ring. He hits the splash in the corner again. Andrade now hits a dropkick to the knee. Andrade tries to wear him down in the corner but Lee moves him out of the way. Again, Lee is able to catch Andrade. Andrade though goes right back to the knee. Andrade now is able to hit double knees. Lee somehow is able to toss up and catch Andrade. He then hits the Spirit Bomb. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Keith Lee
My Opinion:
Once again, what stood out to me is the power of Keith Lee. I really did like the match-up between these two and I think Andrade showed a lot of ring smarts going after the knee of Keith Lee. Lee though has that incredible power and can use it at any time. This match was short but it was very well put together and one I’d like to see again. I’m very excited to see what Andrade will do on his own again and I hope he will get the opportunities that he deserves and as for Keith Lee hopefully, the wins keep on coming and he will be able to continue to work to that main event.
Backstage Segment: The Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley & MVP & Shelton Benjamin)
A random guy comes and sits with MVP and Shelton Benjamin. Lashley then comes from behind and says you’re sitting in my seat. The guy moves. Lashley then tells him again he is sitting in his seat. Tozawa covers and wins the 24/7 Championship. Tozawa is then attacked and pinned for the title. Drew Gulak is now the 24/7 Champion. Truth now pins Gulak and wins the title back. The three will face off in a Triple Threat Match for the 24/7 Championship later tonight!

Aalyah then says anyone who surrounds themselves with Seth Rollins needs to reevaluate their life choices. Aalyah continues on but Seth cuts her off as he appears on the screen. He tells how the truth is someone in the Mysterio family is not being completely honest.
Rollins says Aalyah isn’t being honest with her feelings about his disciple Murphy. Rollins then shows Aalyah talking to Murphy on Instagram on Murphy’s phone. Rollins says the truth hurts. Aalyah then says Murphy is not like Seth and walks out of the ring. Rey and Angie then go after her. Rollins then tells Murphy he did this to himself. Murphy tells him he doesn’t know anything. Rollins asks him if he thinks he can hide things. Murphy then hits Rollins and then grabs Rollins. Rollins laughs. Dominik then comes out of nowhere and attacks Murphy. The two then have to be broken up.
My Opinion:
Things are heating up here with the Mysterio Family. It’ll be very interesting to see where this goes. I still love Seth Rollins and how low he is willing to go. He really is great at this role and this story continues to be entertaining each week. I love this gradual build-up and eventually when all is said and done I think this will go down as a very entering storyline that might even get it’s own WWE Timeline special on the Network someday. Can’t wait for what’s next!
***Dominik Mysterio will face Murphy, tonight!

Rose now takes care of Natalya who tries to get involved. Rose then hits the pump knee strike. She covers and gets the 1 2 3 on Lana.
Winners: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke
My Opinion:
A good debut for Brooke and Rose tonight. They definitely can be good editions to Raw and maybe this is the opportunity they need to step up and shine. As a team, I could see them doing well in the future. They certainly looked good together and seemed to have chemistry. I would love to see a step up in the Raw Women’s Division because I don’t feel like they are getting the spotlight they deserve. I would love to go back to the Women getting a ton of air time and really had a chance to be part of the show in a big way. I feel like right now we are seeing one solid match a week and if we see anything else it’s just a quick one.
Backstage Segment: Aleister Black
Aleister starts by saying negligence. He then asks Kevin Owens if he is a good man and if he is why does he let bad things happen after saying that bad things happen when good men let them. Winner: Kevin Owens: VIA DQ
My Opinion:
This was one heck of a hard-hitting match and I loved every second of it except for the finish. Aleister Black’s new theme music was awesome! I loved this new side of him and I love what he is doing in the ring. Owens is always awesome and I knew these would deliver as they were given time to actually let this one unfold. I know this rivalry is far from over but I hate that Black lost in this fashion. I feel like off the heels of this new presentation this was his match to win. I guess what this does is just get everyone fired up for when they face again so we can see them tear it up once more.
Backstage Segment: The Hurt Business (MVP & Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) & Ali & Apollo Crews & Ricochet
Ali tells MVP he just got a little lost around her. MVP tells him he lost his damn mind and pushes him. Crews comes up and grabs Ali. Ricochet is there also. Winner: R-Truth: Still 24/7 Champion
My Opinion:
This was actually an entertaining match between these three. I know the 24/7 title isn’t taken as seriously as it could be but at the same time it seems to always give us funny moments and it’s allowed us to enjoy R-Truth and a bunch of other people who otherwise we might not see that much. Truth has put this title on the map and has this title on the show every Monday. I’m certainly always entertained and I always look forward to seeing what crazy thing Truth will do next.
Backstage Segment: Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke
Charly asks Rose and Brooke how this duo came to be. Rose tells how Dana has always been there for her. Dana tells her she loves how even when she gets knocked down she comes right back. Rose then tells The Riott Squad and Nia and Shayna that whoever wins their match, they’re coming for the titles.

She continues to beg him to stop. Dominik again tells her to get out of here. Murphy now rolls up Dominik and pins him for the 1 2 3.
***After the match, Dominik now goes after Murphy with the Kendo Stick. Aalyah again argues with Dominik to stop. She tells him again that Murphy is not like Seth. Dominik tells “Dad was right, you are naive” Aalyah then slaps him before storming off.
Winner: Murphy
My Opinion:
I loved this match between these two and I think this is the strongest Dominik has looked since debuting. He really looked locked in and he seemed comfortable in there which was huge. This was everything I would want this match to be and even when it seems Dominik wouldn’t be much of a threat he actually is coming into his own and becoming a key player on Raw. I love seeing him out there and I hope this continues on him because I love watching his progress in the ring. Obviously, the story of Aalyah continued on and I loved it. This story has such believability and such conviction, it’s very entertaining to me. It’s amazing too that some of the best character work is being done by Dominik and Aalayah who are new to all of this. Nonetheless, I’m buying in and I can’t wait for what’s next!
Backstage Segment: The Hurt Business (MVP & Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin)
The Hurt Business head to the ring for their 6-Man Tag Team Match, next!

Pearce asks him if he actually has someone other than himself. Dolph says yes and Pearce tells him to go to his office to discuss.
In-Ring Segment: The Hurt Business (MVP & Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin) & Apollo Crews & Ricochet & Ali
MVP tells Apollo this is an official message from The Hurt Business. He says that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. He then questions Apollo for constantly coming after them. MVP then brings up Cedric and how they had to send him to Bootcamp for making the same mistakes. He then tells how they repoed the United States Championship from Apollo for him to never see again. He then brings up Clash Of Champions and how Apollo lost. He goes up top and hits the 450 he covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: Apollo Crews & Ricochet & Ali
My Opinion:
This was a huge win for the team of Apollo Crews, Ricochet, Ali. it was even more surprising but awesome to see Ali get the cover. These three have fought hard and finally, get a win after a lot of beat downs and losses. This one doesn’t look great for The Hurt Business though, I almost wondered if this match should have happened or not. It just seems like they have a lot of momentum right now and that’s going to slow it down a bit. We’ll see how they back bounce form this but for now, this again is a huge win for Ali, Crews, and Ricochet!
Backstage Segment: Big Show & Ric Flair & Christian & Shawn Michaels
The four joke around with each other as they continue to play cards. Flair gets a Royal flush and takes everyone’s money. He then does his famous strut.

Orton takes off the gloves and puts on goggles. Orton turns off the lights and you hear a lot of noises coming from inside. Orton has on night vision goggles and uses them to take out everyone as they cannot see. Orton strikes again! Orton walks away as Raw ends!
Winner: Drew McIntyre: Still WWE Champion
My Opinion:
I loved the return of Robert Roode tonight, I really liked him and Zigler as a team so I’m excited to see that back together. As for the match, this was a great effort by Roode and a gutsy effort by McIntyre. I loved how they really laid it in on each other and you could see the determination in both men’s eyes to win this match. Roode was smart attacking the knee of McIntyre and it seemed he almost had him but McIntyre is so locked in right now that he was bound to find a way to win. He retains the titles and now it seems he will be turning his attention back to Randy. As for Randy, I loved the attack he laid down! What a smart idea he had and that is something I have never seen done before. This was brilliant, Orton strikes again and I’m impressed he pulled that off. He is the Legend Killer though and The Viper will always strike!!!
Final Thoughts:
A decent night for Raw as we have a very exciting month ahead of us in October! We kicked off Raw hot with McIntyre and the four legends that joined him in the ring. An opening like that is certainly one that you can’t go wrong with. I’m still loving the story between the Mysterio’s and Rollins/ Murphy. I thought tonight’s match between Dominik and Murphy was awesome and Dominik really shined in this one. Dominik and Aalyah are also great storytellers and I’m very excited to see what happens next! I liked what we saw from Zelina Vega in the ring tonight. Her match with Asuka didn’t go for as long as I think it should’ve but Vega showed a great move set and I’m excited to see what she does next!I also loved the match between Aleister Black and Kevin Owens. I thought they really killed it out there and although the ending could have been better I can’t wait to see them go at it again!
I also was actually entertained by the 24/7 Championship tonight. I thought the segment was funny and the match actually wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t a classic but it did really well in telling the story it was supposed to. Then, I was glad to see Keith Lee pick up another big win tonight, can’t wait to see more from him. I was surprised that we got no Raw Underground but we will have to wait and see what the reason for that was and if it will be back soon. Finally, the main event was GLORIOUS! It was a great surprise to see the return of Bobby Roode, the match itself was great. We had a very hard-hitting match to end the night and I was proud of both guys on how they closed out the wrestling portion of the night. The big story is Randy Orton and how he so smartly was able to beat down four men with the help of night vision goggles and a chair. This was so brilliant and I’m not shocked that Orton strikes again!!! As always, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy this week and enjoys NXT, SmackDown, and NXT TakerOver 31!!!
Overall Rating: 5.5/10
