RAW REVIEW 10/14/2019
Tonight we see the final night of the WWE Draft and will see where each major SuperStar will be going forward! Speaking of the Draft will it be Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair winning the first draft pick of the night for their respective brand as they go one on one (Lynch: Raw, Flair: SmackDown). Plus, can The Viking Raiders continue their dominance and pull off their biggest win on the main roster as they challenge Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler for the Raw Tag Team Championships? Finally, what will happen when Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury meet for their Crown Jewel Contract Signing?
Raw comes to us from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Raw kicks off with a recap of the Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt rivalry.
In-Ring Segment: Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair
Lynch says as the overall first draft pick she showed up her fully expecting to kick Sasha banks all over Colorado but she can’t make it because of the last beating she gave her. She says the woman she is fighting tonight she can’t seem to get rid of but one thing she knows is when they step foot in this ring there is going to be a war and she came ready for a war and ready to rip somebody’s arm off. Out comes Charlotte.
Charlotte says maybe this nightmare will never end and she will get drafted to Raw and they will fight forever. She says she doesn’t want to keep taking opportunity after opportunity and having people think she’s selfish. She tells Lynch she misses her and wants to be her friend. Charlotte then takes a cheap shot at Lynch. The two then go at it! Out comes the referees to break it up but the two continue to fight on as Raw goes to break.
Match 1: Becky Lynch (Raw) vs Charlotte Flair (SmackDown): Winner gains the First Draft Pick of the night for their brand.
As Raw returns, Lynch goes right after Charlotte. Charlotte fights back but Lynch stays right on her. Off the turnbuckle goes Charlotte and Lynch then stomps away on her. Charlotte turns it around and lands big kicks of her own. In control is Charlotte and she fires aways with big chops. Charlotte tries a cover but Lynch kicks out. Lynch comes back in the corner. Charlotte quickly puts her down and then drives her face-first into the mat over and over. Charlotte stays with her legs wrapped around Lynch and holds her down. Lynch is driven into the mat again and is down. In the corner is Lynch but she is able to fight out for a moment. Once again Charlotte gets in control. Lynch fights her off and lands a dropkick. Charlotte brings Lynch to a vertical base and lands vicious strikes. Charlotte lands a big boot but Lynch turns it around in the corner. She lands a big kick and Charlotte is down on the floor. Lynch goes to the outside and stays on her but Charlotte turns it around and drives her into the ring post as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Charlotte lands a big chop. She kicks Lynch and then lands a big right. Into the corner goes Charlotte and her comes Lynch. A huge kick to the gut and a big shoulder tackle from Lynch. Lynch goes to the apron and lands big kicks out. Lynch lands a missile dropkick and goes for the cover but Charlotte kicks out. Charlotte catches Lynch and gets her in a Boston crab. Lynch is able to fight out. Charlotte goes to the floor and Lynch flies off the apron to take her down. Back in the ring, Lynch flies but Charlotte avoids. Natural Selection from Charlotte and a cover but Lynch kicks out! Up top goes Charlotte but she takes too much time and is pulled down by Lynch. Looking for the Disarmher now but Charlotte counters and drives Lynch into the corner. Another pin attempt and another kick out from Lynch. Lynch fights back again and plants Charlotte. A leg drop and another cover but once again Charlotte kicks out. Lynch grabs the arm but Charlotte counters. A spear from Charlotte and a cover but again Lynch kicks out! Charlotte gets frustrated and is in disbelief. Lynch capitalizes and rolls her up, 1 2 3, Lynch wins!
Winner: Becky Lynch: Raw gets the first Draft Pick
My Opinion:
This was a great way to kick off the night, first, the back and forth with Lynch is always awesome. They show what a rivalry means and they will never stop fighting. The match was really good as well and I was very impressed with Charlotte with how well she kept Lynch down. Lynch though showed the champion in herself and never gave up and once again picked her spot. Lynch definitely leads the charge on Raw and that is why she was drafted first. Lynch is a fighter and as much as she and Charlotte may want to get away from each other they continue to have magic in the ring every time they meet.
Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins
Charly asks Rollins how he stays focused knowing he could be drafted to SmackDown alongside Bray Wyatt. He says Wyatt doesn’t care where he gets drafted because Wyatt goes where he goes. He says where he went to at Hell In A Cell isn’t something he is proud of but he did what he had to do. He says he doesn’t know what it will take to stop this but on Friday something clicked and he thought maybe he has just been going about this all wrong. He says The Fiend has been picking his spots while he has been trying to move forward. He says tonight he is going Fiend hunting and he is going to find him, end this, and Burn it down.
*** We get a vignette from Jim Crammer the host of Mad Money on the stock of WWE SuperStars, we then get a shot of the USA and FOX Draft Rooms.

Andrade goes to a submission hold and continues working on the arm of Ali. Ali to a vertical base now and the fight is on. Ali is able to avoid Andrade but Andrade comes back and once again goes to an armbar on the ropes. Andrade charges at Ali but Ali moves and Andrade crashes to the floor. Zelina gets involved again but Ali doesn’t fall for it and still jumps over the ropes to take down Andrade. Zelina then hits Ali as the ref is distracted. Andrade brings him in the ring and hits the hammerlock DDT. Andrade covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Andrade
My Opinion:
A huge win for Andrade as he and Zelina begin their journey on Raw. Zelina is Andrade’s biggest tool and if given the chance Andrade is going to run wild. He has so much talent and he showed is tonight the way he dominated Ali. Ali is really good but he just couldn’t get much started in this one. It will be interesting though to see where Ali lands because he has a lot of potential and when he was firing on all cylinders the crowd was firmly behind him.

Erik gets to his feet and tries to make a tag but Ziggler is able to pull him away. Roode comes in and works Erik in the corner with a series of chops. Winners: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar): New Raw Tag Team Champions
My Opinion:
Wow, that was awesome! The Viking Raiders have finally done it and I can’t wait to see how this run with the titles go for them. There are some big-time matches and rivalries for them to have and I’m so glad they are finally in the spotlight like this. Roode and Ziggler fought hard in this one but ultimately Ivar took over this match for his team and they just couldn’t contain him. The Viking Raiders have been so dominating as of late and tonight it paid off. These guys can run this division and it is going to be an exciting time watching them run through teams!
*** We get a vignette from the team from NBCSN
Backstage Segment: The Viking Raiders
Erik says three days ago they said Monday Night Raw is exactly where The Viking Raiders belong and tonight they captured the Raw Tag Team Champions. Ali
Match 4: Aleister Black vs Eric Young
Black is able to gain control taking down Young. He lands a big moonsault and then looks for Black Mass but Young goes to the outside. Black lands a big kick but Young is then able to hang him up on the ropes. Off the ropes goes Young and he is hit with a huge knee strike. Young sidesteps Black but Black comes back and works the submission. Young taps out.
Winner: Aleister Black
My Opinion:
Another big momentum-building win for Black. Now that he is given the time he has a lot to prove and he is doing just that. This guy can be a major player for sure and there aren’t many people as intimidating and lethal in the ring as Black. I see him doing big things on Raw and now that Raw is more of the land of opportunity this could be a great chance for Black to make a run for the Universal Championship. As for Eric Young, it sucks he is never used given the fact that he was so hot in NXT. I hope they actually find something for him because he is a guy who if not in WWE would be doing big things. He has proven he can get it done in the ring and on the mic and hopefully he gets a shot once again.
Fourth Round of the Draft w/ Stephanie McMahon:
Stephanie announces that Raw selects Buddy Murphy. SmackDown then picks the team of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. Raw then selects Jinder Mahal. Next to SmackDown is Carmella. Finally for Raw is R-Truth.

Buddy Murphy
Jinder Mahal
R-Truth
SmackDown:
Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler

The O.C. comes up and Styles says it is official The Street Profits are on Monday Night Raw. Styles says he isn’t sure why they were drafted though. Dawkins then asks if he has beef. Styles says no but why would they drafted you to be the hosts of Raw when they have The O.C. he then tells them that Raw belongs to The O.C. and welcomes them to Raw. The O.C. then attack The Street Profits.
Match 5: Ricochet vs Shelton Benjamin
Benjamin throws Ricochet into the corner but Ricochet turns it around quickly. Ricochet is able to land a hurricanranna and gets in control. Benjamin fights back and lands a big belly to belly suplex. Benjamin meets him on the outside and brings him back into the ring. Ricochet is able to knock him down and send him to the outside. Ricochet lands a kick in the corner and looks to fly. He does and hits a big clothesline. He then hits a standing shooting star and goes for the cover but Benjamin kicks out. Ricochet drags him towards the corner and goes up top. Ricochet is stopped and Benjamin works him on the apron. Ricochet is apron to counter him and knocks him down. Ricochet goes to the top but Benjamin meets him up there. Both men fly but Ricochet lands on his feet. A Recoil from Ricochet. The cover and the 1 2 3.
Winner: Ricochet
My Opinion:
A big win for Ricochet over a very game Shelton Benjamin tonight. Benjamin had a lot of control but it’s that explosiveness from Ricochet that makes him who he is. This guy is something special and there is no telling the heights Ricochet can go. He continues to win when it matters and it’s only a matter of time before he is a champion again. He is a great pick for Raw and he has a lot of upsides. Tonight Ricochet proved that if you give him the chance he will deliver.
Lana Vignette:
Lana is getting a massage and asked if this is good. She says no I like it harder. The masseuse says she can go deeper and Lana says yes I like it deeper. Bobby Lashley then comes in and takes over. Lana tells him he has such a gentle touch and that Rusev was never that good. Lashley says this is so much fun, maybe not as much fun for Rusev. Lana then says that enough on this side how about I flip over.
In-Ring Segment: Tyson Fury & Braun Strowman Contract Signing
Jerry Lawler tells how this match was announced last Friday. He says never before in WWE history has an undefeated boxing champion like The Gypsy King stood toe to toe with a WWE SuperStar. King then brings out Braun Strowman. Next out is Tyson Fury. King says they promised this would remain professional and they won’t have a repeat of last week. Braun tells Fury he knows he is undefeated and a hell of an athlete but he knows he has one of the biggest egos he has ever seen. Braun then says he knows he was at SmackDown to steal the spotlight and he will be damned if he uses him as a stepping stone. He tells him in Saudi Arabia he is stepping into his world and he is going to slam him and give him his first loss ever. He says there isn’t a damn thing he will do about it and on October 31st he is going to get these hands. The contract is signed. Fury says he and his family were there to see Braun because he is all his kids talk about. He says he isn’t out of his element in any ring and tells Braun at Crown Jewel he will be looking up from his back because he is going to knock him out. Braun then crushes the table with his fist. Fury then goes to break the pen and pretends that he can’t but finally does. Fury then exits the ring.
My Opinion:
This wasn’t as explosive as I thought but nonetheless we are getting this match and I’m super excited for it. I love getting to see world-class athletes get in the ring and give wrestling a go. Fury is one of those guys who is so exciting in his world and I can’t wait to see how he does in this one. He and Braun probably aren’t going to have the most technical match of all time but they will definitely throw down and you have to enjoy the show of it all. It is going to be epic and seeing someone like Tyson Fury in WWE is a moment in time when you just sit back and enjoy it for what it is because moments like this don’t happen every day.
*** We then get a vignette from the Today show talking about the Draft.

Alexander goes around on Murphy but Murphy fights him off and lands an elbow. Alexander is sent into the turnbuckle and Murphy takes control. Alexander lands a kick but Murphy stays on him. Alexander is sent to the apron and he hits Murphy. Murphy is able to knock him down and Alexander tumbles down to the floor as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Alexander is sent to the apron but Alexander hits him with a kick. Murphy comes back with a jumping knee and then flies to the outside to lay out Alexander. Back in the ring Murphy flies form the top rope and lays out Alexander again. Alexander’s kick to caught but Alexander turns it around with a huge elbow. Alexander pushes him on the outside and hits a dropkick through the ropes to send Murphy into the barricade. He then flies to lay him out. In the ring, Alexander lands the flat liner and then goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. Alexander looks for the Lumbar Check but Murphy turns it into a headlock. Up top goes Murphy but Alexander meets him up there. Murphy slips through and hits a superkick. He then connects with a powerbomb and goes for the cover but Alexander kicks out. Murphy then hits Murphy’s Law and again goes for the cover and this time he puts away Alexander.
Winner: Buddy Murphy
My Opinion:
This is a very big win for Murphy especially after being drafted to Raw tonight. He and Alexander went out there and laid it all on the line. They countered each other and kept out doing the other and it was so fast-paced and high actioned and definitely set the pace for what’s to come on Raw. I can’t wait to see what these guys do going forward and given the picks coming to Raw, there are a ton of great matches to be had. This is going to be an exciting time on Raw!
*** Seth Rollins will face “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a Falls Count Anywhere Match for the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel!

Beth Phoenix then says her big pick is Baron Corbin. Booker T then says the big story is the free agents and trades and they will go deeper into that on WWE Backstage tomorrow. Renee then reiterates that they will go over the trade and free agents tomorrow on
Backstage.
Match 7: The Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) vs Natalya & Lacey Evans

Asuka then works the arm of Evans but Evans works out of it. Natalya gets the tag and Natalya takes down Asuka. Natalya lands a german suplex and then takes down Sane. As Raw returns, Asuka has Natalya wrapped up in a submission. Natalya fights out but Asuka sticks with it. Natalya fights her off and hits a basement dropkick. Asuka goes back on the offensive and taunts Evans. Natalya fights her off and looks for the tag but Asuka prevents it again. Asuka takes a cheap shot on Evans and continues to trash talk. Natalya lands a big right hand but can’t gain much off the move. Sane tags in and the two land a double suplex on Natalya. Sane covers but Natalya kicks out. Sane then goes to a body scissors. Sane hammers on Natalya and stays in control. Natalya fights out and hits a huge suplex. Evans tags in and takes down Sane and Asuka. Evans lands a huge neck breaker and tries a cover but Sane kicks out. Evans throws her into the corner and works her. Evans lands a dropkick and then a big elbow. Sane misses the elbow. Evans lands The Woman’s Right but Asuka is legal and rolls up Evans to get the 1 2 3.
Winners: The Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka)
My Opinion:
A very competitive match to end the night and it was awesome! Like I’ve said I love the new mean streak of Asuka and Sane and I think they finally have found their niche. They’re doing really good as champions and they are bringing this division to prominent light. I was super impressed by Lacey Evans, I think she showed up tonight and really gave all she could to try to get the win for her team. Overall I love that they got the last match and they used every second of it wisely and put on a show.
New Firefly Fun House:
Wyatt tells Rollins he saw him and says that people say mean things about him but he thinks he is strong, brave, and smart. Wyatt tells Rollins that he never forgets. Rambling Rabbit tells Wyatt that Seth is coming here right now and he looks mad. In comes Rollins and he pounds on Wyatt. Rollins then breaks some of the photos on the wall. Wyatt asks him why he is doing this to him. Wyatt then continues the attack. Rollins says burn it down. He then lights the table on fire. The funhouse then engulfs in flames as Raw goes off the air.
My Opinion:
This was an epic way to end the night because the big question is what will happen next. Rollins may have crossed a line he can’t come back from and awoken a side of Bray Wyatt even greater than The Fiend. This is going to be awesome to see how Wyatt comes back from this because there is no way this is taken lightly.
Final Thoughts:
Tonight was a solid show and one of the strongest parts of the night was the competitive matches we got. First off, I like how the draft went and I think it split people up pretty well and we have a lot of unique matches to be had and a lot of fresh starts for SuperStars. I’m interested to see where the free agents end up and what is going on with this big trade. Either way, everything should be all set and ready to go next week and I’m excited to see what the brands give us going forward. Next, a huge congrats to The Viking Raiders for winning the Raw tag titles. They fought hard in that one and it was a great back and forth match but they continue to prove they are a dominant team and now they run the division! I thought guys like Andrade, Buddy Murphy, Ricochet, Ali, and Cedric Alexander really showed up tonight and showcased their talents. I hope they work into the mix more because they have so much to offer. The contract signing wasn’t physical like many thought it could and would be but the point is there and like I said it’s just awesome to see Tyson Fury in the WWE. I’m enjoying seeing him each week and I’m excited for him and bruan to get this chance at Crown Jewel. I thought the tag match to end the night was awesome. Those women left it all on the mat and made the most of their time. It was back and forth and I was so glad they got that chance. Finally it huge that Rollins will defend the Universal title against The Fiend at Crown Jewel but after Rollins actions tonight he may have bitten off more than he can chew. I can’t wait to see how Wyatt reacts to this because it’s gonna get good! Overall it was a really good show and I can’t wait to see how things pan out going forward and what Renee and Booker will have to say on WWE Backstage tomorrow night!!!
Overall Rating: 6.5 /10
