Lynch looks for the Disarmher but Sane reverses and goes to the outside to regroup. Asuka provides a distraction as Sane tries to get away. She flies off the steps but Lynch swats her out of the air. Sane turns it around and sends Lynch into the steps as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Sane uses her knees to bend the back of Lynch. Lynch fights into a cover but Sane quickly kicks out. Sane comes back and lands more strikes. Lynch fires away with big rights but Sane is able to shut her down. Lynch comes back and continues to fight her off. Lynch is in control and lands a huge forearm in the corner. Sane goes for the cover but Lynch just kicks out. Sane brings Lynch up but Lynch counters and locks in the Disarmher. Sane taps out.
Winner: Becky Lynch
My Opinion:
Awesome opening to the night. First, I loved Paige with Asuka and Kairi because I really think she could help them on the mic but then again them turning on her continues to build their heel persona very well. That match with Sane and Lynch was so good! They killed it out there, I loved the back and forth and the way both used very unique offensive maneuvers. Lynch gets the win which doesn’t help the Kabuki Warriors build momentum for Wednesday but nonetheless Sane has nothing to hold her head down about. She went through that pretty much on her own and gave Lynch a heck of a fight. I’d love to see that one again!
Match 2: R-Truth vs Buddy Murphy
Murphy gets in control early and stomps on Truth in the corner. He lands a big forearm and stays in control. Truth fights out and lands a big slap. Truth lands a slam and then runs at Murphy in the corner but runs into a big boot. Murphy charges at Truth but Truth is able to take him down. He goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. Truth lands a strike to the gut and tries to hit Murphy off the ropes but he blocks. Murphy lands some combination offense but Truth comes back with a big kick. A number of Superstars then runs around the ring chasing the Singh Brothers. Truth goes outside to join the fray. Truth gets in the ring at 8 and Murphy connects with a massive knee strike. He goes for the cover and Murphy gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Buddy Murphy
My Opinion:
Murphy definitely got an assist in this one but he sure did prove all it takes is one strike from him and things are over, for Murphy this helps build confidence ahead of the Battle Royal on Thursday and there is no doubt he has to be one of the favorites in this match. Murphy has proved a good deal these past few months and he is one big win away from establishing himself. For Truth, he seems way too distracted about the 24/7 Championship which definitely could hurt him heading into that Battle Royal.
*** We get another AOP vignette ahead of their anticipated return!
In-Ring Segment: The Street Profits
Montez Ford tells that not only did they make their Monday Night Raw debut last week but they showed up and showed out. Dawkins says you always remember your first. Ford says even though it was in St. Louis they still made The O.C. feel the Blues. Dawkins says with an assist from their boy Kevin Owens. Ford tells that The Street Profits are up and they want the smoke. Dawkins asks what did you just say. Ford says we want the smoke, the two then continue to play to the crowd.
My Opinion:
The Street Profits definitely know how to hype up the crowd and with that along with their in-ring skills these guys are poised for huge things on Raw. I love their energy and the way they are together is perfect. This is one of those teams that need to be together forever because sometimes that’s what is best. Not everyone is meant to be broken up and they’re one of those teams that need to stick together.
I can’t wait until they win the gold and see the celebration they bring to Monday Night!!!
Backstage Segment: Ric Flair & Hulk Hogan w/ Jimmy Hart
Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan with Jimmy Hart, make their way to the ring for a Team Flair and Team Hogan preview.
Match 3: Ricochet vs Drew Mcintyre
*** Hogan and Flair are in the ring ahead of this match! Ricochet comes out and then Mcintyre. Before Mcintyre can get in the ring Ricochet flies over the ropes to take him out.
The match begins and Ricochet stays on Mcintyre. He takes him to the floor and flies over the ropes again to lay him out. Back in the ring Ricochet lands a big kick. Mcintyre taunts Hogan on the outside and then goes back in the ring to lock in an abdominal stretch on Ricochet. Ricochet tries to fight out of the clutches of Mcintyre but he doesn’t allow it and hits a hip toss. Mcintyre continues to hit Ricochet with shots to the body and then works the shoulder. Mcintyre fights back and turns him inside out with a clothesline but he can’t put him away. The two go up top and Mcintyre looks for a suplex but Ricochet is able to knock him down. Mcintyre leaps up and throws Ricochet off the top. Mcintyre looks for the Glasgow Kiss but Ricochet catches him with a boot. Ricochet goes up top and looks to fly but Mcintyre moves. As Ricochet rolls through here comes Randy Orton to hit him with the RKO!
*** After the match Flair celebrates with Mcintyre and Orton. Mcintyre then throws Ricochet to the outside. And tells Hogan he is screwed.
Winner: Ricochet: Via DQ
My Opinion:
Wow, Mcintyre looked so dominant in that match it was unbelievable. I mean Ricochet barely got anything in on him and took a big beating. For Team Flair this is huge. If that doesn’t put doubt in the mind of Team Hogan then I don’t know what will. Yes, Ricochet technically wins but this wasn’t about a win it was about sending a message. Ricochet is going to walk into Thursday very banged up and that means that the team is already about down one member. Flair is the dirtiest player in the game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he walks into Crown Jewel with more tricks up his sleeve.
Backstage Segment: The O.C. & Humbert Carrillo
The O.C. stands in the back with Humberto Carrillo. Styles says he was impressed with Carillo last week. He says it wasn’t many moons ago when he was a rookie and look at him now, He tells Humberto he thinks it’s cool he made his debut against Seth Rollins. He tells Humberto if he was looking to prove himself against the top champion he picked the wrong one. Styles tells him if he wants to try his luck against the real champion then step into the ring with him tonight.
Match 4: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs The Chicago Cubs “Rizzo” & “Bryant”
Rizzo tags in Bryant quickly and Erik takes him down without a problem. He takes control of both of them and Ivar tags in. Ivar takes him down and continues to control the Cubs. Erik lifts Ivar and slams him down. Erik then lands a big takedown. Ivar and Erik stay in control and slam Rizzo on Bryant. They then hit the Viking Experience and Ivar gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
My Opinion:
The tag champs destroyed their opponents once again tonight and prove again why they are the most dominant team in WWE right now. However, it doesn’t prove much because these guys shouldn’t be facing a team of this caliber. I think this booking is very backward. These guys are the tag champs and don’t need this anymore. If anything these matches should have gone to a team that is up and coming and trying to look dominant and not to a team who is already established.
Backstage Segment: Lashley & Lana
Lashley and Lana sit backstage ahead of The King’s Court
Match 5: Andrade w/ Zelina Vega vs Sin Cara w/ Catalina
*** Charly asks Sin Cara how he plans to counter Zelina Vega at ringside. He tells that Andrade knew he had his number last week and tonight he will find out two can play at that game. Sin Cara then brings in Catalina.
The match begins and Sin Cara takes down Andrade. Andrade gets up and knocks Sin Cara off the ropes and to the floor. Andrade brings him in the ring and stays in control. He locks in a submission and works a stretch submission. Sin Cara tries to get back into it but Andrade stays in control. Sin Cara is able to turn things around and send him to the outside. Sin Cara looks to fly and hits as he takes down Andrade on the floor. In the ring Sin Cara is able to counter Andrade. Vega distracts the ref but her comes Catalina to take care of her. Andrade rolls up Sin Cara and uses the ropes for leverage to get the 1 2 3.
Winner: Andrade
My Opinion:
Andrade gets another big win tonight and even though this was a quick match it still showed how powerful Andrade is Zelina by his side. Sin Cara tried to play at Andrade’s game but Zelina and Andrade know each other way too well and it doesn’t work against them. I’m sure this rivalry will continue on and I hope eventually here we get a big mix tag match. This is shaping up to be a very entertaining rivalry and a refreshing one that is about nothing but wrestling.
Match 6: Charlotte & Natalya vs The Iconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)
Flair lands a takedown and then hits Royce with big chops. Flair throws her off the ropes and then catches her. Flair throws her and then taunts Kay. Natalya tags in and the two land a double suplex. Natalya goes for the cover but Royce kicks out. Natalya tries to lift her but Royce counters and pulls Natalya to the mat. Kay tags in and goes to work before trying a cover. Kay then works the arm of Natalya. Kay lands a knee and then gets her on the ropes and uses it to land a series of knees. Royce helps her and Natalya is in trouble. Royce comes in and looks for a suplex but Natalya turns it into an inside cradle. Royce kicks out. Royce lands a big kick and tries a series of covers but can’t put Natalya away. Royce takes down Natalya and tags in Kay. Royce drives Natalya into the knee of Kay. Kay goes for the cover but Flair breaks it up. She then takes out Royce. Kay gets distracted and this allows Natalya to lock in the Sharpshooter. Royce tries to break it up but Flair prevents her. Kay taps out.
Winners: Charlotte Flair & Natalya
My Opinion:
An impressive win for Charlotte and Natalya in their first night teaming together. Of course, these two come from wrestling royalty so it is no surprise they worked well together and it didn’t take much for them to click. They beat the former tag champs and now you have to wonder if this is a team we will continue to see. Winning the tag titles is something neither of them has done and doing so would definitely be a huge accomplishment to add to their long resume. Plus, I think they could have some great matches with Kairi and Asuka!
Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins
Charly goes to ask Seth Rollins a question but Rollins cuts her off and tells how he has a Falls Count Anywhere match against Erick Rowan. He says many will ask why he took this match and says he did it because he fights and fights and fights and he proves himself. He tells how The Fiend is more dangerous than ever and the only way to end The Fiend is to beat him, keep his Universal title, and Burn It Down.
Match 7: Seth Rollins vs Erick Rowan: Falls Count Anywhere Match
Rollins goes right after Rowan and gets an early advantage trying to chop down Rowan. Rowan fights back but here comes Rollins again. He takes him down and tries a cover but Rowan kicks out at one. Rowan gets on him and takes the fight to the outside. He lands a huge headbutt and then bounces Rollins off the barricade. Rowan lifts him and drops him face-first into the turnbuckle. He goes for the cover but Rollins kicks out. Rowan lands a big kick and then a strike to the chest. The two go into the crowd and this allows Rollins to fight back for a moment before being hit with a right hand from Rowan. Rowan lands another headbutt and Rollins goes into the crowd even more. The two fight up the stairs and Rollins tries to get back into it but Rowan rakes the eyes. Rowan hits him and they continue to fight into the concourse area. Rollins throws big strikes but Rowan stays on him. Rollins hits him with a barricade pole but Rowan then snatches it away from him. Rowan then sends him into a merchandise stand. Rowan lifts him and sends him through a table. Rowan goes for the cover but Rollins kicks out as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, the two are back at ringside and Rollins is in control. Rollins flies through the ropes and drives Rowan into the barricade. Rollins hits again but Rowan is still on his feet. Rowan is then driven into the steel steps. Rollins takes him to the other side and does it again. Rollins gets in the ring and tries to fly through the ropes once more but he is hit with the steps. Rowan lands a dropkick and Rollins is sent to the floor. Rowan tries a cover but Rollins kicks out. Rowan lifts Rollins and sends him pine first into the ring post. Rowan goes for the cover but again Rollins kicks out. Rowan lifts Rollins and brings him up the ramp. Rollins tries to fight back but this angers Rowan. Rowan clears the announcer’s table and goes back to Rollins. Rowan grabs him with the vice grip and brings him up but Rollins counters and is able to land a stomp. Rollins covers but Rowan is able to kick out. Rollins gets on the announcer’s table and flies off of it to the arena floor to take out Rowan. Rollins hits him and then grabs a chair He hits Rowan and he follows him to the back. Rowan comes back and sends Rollins into the equipment crates. Rowan stays on him and tries to throw a road case at Rollins but Rollins moves. Rollins then uses a ladder to take down Rowan. Rollins then lands a stomp on the ladder. Rowan is placed under the forklift. Rollins gets someone to turn it on and he traps Rowan underneath. Rollins goes for the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Seth Rollins
My Opinion:
What a hard-fought battle those two had. I mean they really through a ton at each other but Rollins proved his point and that is he can find a way to win. This was no easy task and he had a lot of beating to take but he picked his spot and capitalized and this is exactly what he will need to do at Crown Jewel. Rollins knows he can take a lot of punishment but also dish it out and he has to have the warrior mentality. This match with The Fiend is going to be the ultimate test of Rollins as a champion and how much he will take to keep that title He can rid of Wyatt with this win and I’m sure Rollins will do anything this time to finish this once and for all. The Fiend, he has nothing to lose and everything to gain so there is no telling what he will do to Rollins.
Backstage Segment: Lashley & Lana
Lashley tells Lana he will go out there with her if she would like. Lana says she needs to go out there alone. Lashley asks if she can do it and she says she can. Lashley and her then share a kiss.
Aleister Black:
Black says the definition of madness is to do the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome but all his outcomes have been the same and he doesn’t want them to change. He says he is not a mad man so what is he. He says the next time he walks to the ring he will make sure whoever he is facing has an intimate relationship with fear right before he takes their head clean off. Or two they will come running at his door ready to pick a fight with him.
Match 8: Humberto Carrillo vs AJ Styles w/ The O.C.
Carrillo lands big shots on Styles early and he is able to take him down. Styles tries to fight back in the corner but Carrillo turns it around. Carrillo flies to take down Styles but he can’t put him away. Styles gets around on him and tries a cover but Carrillo kicks out. Carrillo lands a big kick to the face of Styles but it’s not enough to put him away. Carrillo lands a moonsault but doesn’t hit it all and Styles kicks out of the cover. Carrillo lands a dropkick and Styles goes outside to regroup. Carrillo lands a big forearm but is brought to the outside. Styles fights him off on the outside and drives him into the barricade. Styles hits a DDT on the floor as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Styles is in control but quickly Carrillo turns it around with a big kick to the face. Carrillo creates separation and it allows him to hit a huge dropkick. Carrillo lands a missile dropkick and Styles is driven into the mat. Carrillo lands the Aztec Press and goes for the cover but again Styles kicks out. Carrillo goes up top and flies but no one is home. Styles catches him and plants him. The cover and the kick-out by Carrillo. Styles looks for the Phenomenal Forearm but Carrillo scouts it and knocks him off. Carrillo lands a moonsault but again Styles kicks out at 2 and a half. Styles takes down Carrillo as he tried to jump off the ropes. Styles locks in the calf crusher and Carrillo taps out.
*** After the match Styles extends a hand but fakes out Carrillo. Carrillo hits him and this angers Styles and he takes down Carrillo. Gallows and Anderson quickly jump in but here comes The Street Profits. They hit the ring and clean house!
Winner: AJ Styles
My Opinion:
Another great showing but Carrillo tonight but Styles took advantage of the damaged leg and put it away. Styles showed his veteran presence and proved why he is Phenomenal. I did enjoy the ending with The Street PRofits because it’s really refreshing to see guys getting a chance. We see not only someone who can be a big singles star but a superstar tag team in the making. They all are making the most of their opportunities and it’s making Raw really exciting seeing these guys step up and take their shots!
In-Ring Segment: The King’s “Divorce” Court: Hosted by Jerry “The King” Lawler w/ Guests: Lana & Rusev
King welcomes everyone to King’s Court and tonight it’s better to call it divorce court. He says tonight we are trying to figure out if that’s the best answer for two of WWE’s top SuperStars. First out is Rusev. He then introduces the still legally wife of Rusev, Lana. Lawler tells Lana as she can see Rusev is still wearing his wedding band because he is hoping they can reconcile their differences. Lawler then asks what she thinks. She says she didn’t want to come out and air their dirty laundry but she has had to deal with bullying from the WWE Universe and so she wants to tell everyone the truth. Lana says their marriage was only about what Rusev wanted and what he wanted was sex. Rusev asks if you can blame him. Lana then goes on and one how he wanted sex all the time and that he is a sex addict. Rusev says he can’t believe she would say these things. Lana says everything was about Rusev wanting to put a baby inside her. Rusev tells her that he never insisted she had a child with her and of course he wanted to grow their family because he loves her. She says she makes money modeling and not for being momma Rusev. Lawler questions if this happened because he wanted a baby. Lana says it was because Rusev cheated. Rusev says Lashley is talking shit and telling lies. Out comes Lashley. Lashley marches to the ring but Rusev gets the upper hand. He attacks Lashley and sends him into the steps. He continues to pound on him in the ring. Lashley turns it around and takes down Rusev. Rusev fights back and lays out Lashley. Rusev takes off his ring and shoves it into Lashley’s mouth. He then continues to beat on Lashley. Lana hits him with a kendo stick but Rusev isn’t pashed. He asks Lana why she is doing this but is then hit with a low blow from Lashley. He then hits him again below the belt and Lashley then tells him he is messing with the wrong person. Lashley and Lana then kiss over Rusev.
My Opinion:
Well, this was an interesting way to end the night. It’s good Rusev got his hands on Lashley but ultimately it’s Lashley who gets the last laugh. I still am not sure where this is going and still think this is a bad way to write a feud for two great wrestlers but I will continue to watch this unfold and see if it ends up making sense. Hopefully, Rusev gets his on Thursday and will be able to rid of this in the near future.
Final Thoughts:
Tonight was another solid Raw and although it didn’t exactly hype up crown Jewel as great as it could have we still had some awesome matches and a really good flow throughout the night. First, I loved Humberto Carrillo getting that match with Styles. He killed it once again and he is truly making a name for himself. Like it said it was also really great to have The Street Profits out there too because they are so over and are in a great position to do big things! I loved the match between Rollins and Rowan as well. They fought hard and through everything at each other but Rollins ultimately proved that even against a monster he will find a way to get the job done. There was definitely a strong statement made by Team Flair tonight and they showed Team Hogan they are coming to win. I couldn’t believe how dominating Mcintyre was and he really looked like a monster. I am very curious to see how this match goes because right now Team Hogan isn’t looking great. For Becky Lynch and Kairi Sane, they killed it tonight with the opening match. Sane brought a real fight to Lynch but The Man found a way to win. This was definitely a match I would love to see again and it showed truly what Sane can do in case anyone forgot. On that same note, I really hope they have Charlotte and Natalya face them because they will tear it up. The ending to Raw was a head-scratcher but as I said, I hope it works itself out to mean something big for Rusev and at the very least I hope he gets his on Thursday. Overall it was a good night and I’m very excited to see how Crown Jewel plays out, we have a lot of big matches on the card and it should be a very interesting and entertaining show!!!!!!
