Raw Review 11/04/2019
RAW REVIEW 11/04/2019
Tonight is the Fall-Out Edition of Monday Night Raw following last Thursday’s Crown Jewel PPV! First, after a declaration from Paul Heyman that the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has quit SmackDown and is coming to Raw, with Lesnar coming what will he do as he looks for revenge on Rey Mysterio? Plus, what will be next for Seth Rollins after losing the Universal Championship to Bray Wyatt? Also, what will be the next chapter in the Lana and Rusev saga as last week ended in a controversial way? Finally, will the NXT brand come looking to take over Raw the same way they did SmackDown on Friday?
Raw comes to us from the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York.
Raw kicks off with us being welcomed by Jerry “The King” Lawler, Dio Maddin, and Vic Joseph with a shot backstage of three SUV’s pulling in. Triple H gets out of one but it is clear he is not alone!
In Ring Segment: Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Hayman
Heyman tells again how Lesnar has had enough of SmackDown and has quit SmackDown. He tells how Lesnar is here on Raw to hut on Rey Mysterio. Heyman tells how Raw traded Bliss and Cross for two pick considerations. He says Lesnar has a no-cut contract because he has a jew as an advocate. He tells that Lesnar is now officially on Raw and no it doesn’t mean Roman Reigns can quit because Lesnar is different and special and he can whatever the hell he wants to do. He then tells the crowd that Lesnar is better than everyone here, everyone at home, and every one of those bitches in the back who thinks they’re tough guys and can take on Brock Lesnar. He tells that someone here knows where Rey Mysterio is so where is he. He asks the crowd if they’d like Lesnar to come over that rail and slap every man in the audience? He says there is no one man enough to slap Brock Lesnar. He says that includes Rey Mysterio and Mysterio wasn’t man enough to defend his son against the onslaught of Brock Lesnar. He says someone will give up Rey Mysterio and Lesnar will commit a felony against him. Or Brock Lesnar is going to turn the entire Nassau Coliseum upside down and inside out like an F5 has touched down here in New York. He proclaims that tonight is the funeral of Rey Mysterio’s career at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar and Heyman head to the back and Lesnar yells for Rey. he grabs a crew member and asks but the member hasn’t seen him. Lesnar then lays him out as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, we see Lesnar continuing to question people backstage. He is told that Rey went to the car over there. He goes up to it and rips open the door. He pulls out a guy but it’s not Rey. Lesnar continues on the hunt.
My Opinion:
This was an awesome way to start off the night! This is something to get you excited and this is the side of Brock Lesnar we want to see. First off, Heyman still has it every night on that mic. He is one of the best advocates in the game today and knows exactly how to lay down his points perfectly. Second, Lesnar is a machine but for a while, there wasn’t the rage in him and that rage was what made him who he is so letting him loose and being on a “manhunt” is a great way to bring back what “The Beast Incarnate” really means about him and his character.
Match 1: The Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) vs Charlotte Flair & Natalya
The two lock up and Natalya gets the advantage of working the arm of Sane. Sane reverses and Natalya has to fight out. Natalya lifts Sane and spins her around before dropping her to the mat. She locks in the SharpShooter but her comes Sane hitting with double knee.s Flair then takes out Sane with a spear. Natalya counters the Asuka Lock and works another SharpShooter. Asuka taps.
Winners: Charlotte Flair and Natalya
My Opinion:
A huge win for Flair and Natalya once again. First, I loved how long this match was, the two teams were really given the time to shine and it helps immensely in making the Women’s Tag Team Championships as important as they should be. These four ladies battled it out and it was one of those matches I would love to see again and assume we will. For Natalya and Flair they didn’t seem like they were wanting to be a team but then again sometimes you don’t have to be to make a great team. They are two powerhouses and they are getting the job done. Given the chance to win the titles I like these two who know how to win will win.
On Stage Segment: Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman
Heyman comes out to the announcer’s desk and asks where the hell is Rey Mysterio. Heyman asks Jerry Lawler where he is. He says tell me where Rey Mysterio is or he is going to unleash the beast on you. He says if he does no one will resuscitate Lawler when he dies on the air again. Dio Maddin steps to him but Lesnar attacks him and puts him through the announce table with a devastating F5. Rey Mysterio then comes from behind and hits Lesnar with a lead pipe of some sort. He then picks up the title and hits Lesnar taking him tumbling down the ramp. Mysterio is backed off and Lesnar is down.
My Opinion:
I thought this was a really awesome segment here. First, I loved Dio stepping up and even though Lesnar took him down he still deserves a ton of respect for doing that and saving his announce partners. I really think it even helps Dio establish himself more as a new member of the commentary team. Second, good for Rey, he got his and this is the Rey from a time ago who found how o beat down his bigger opponents. I think it was really smart to have him get one up on Lesnar and now The Beast will be coming back for him!
Backstage Segment:
Mysterio tells Lesnar he tried to take everything from him and attacked his family. He said it’s an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Fight fire with fire. He says Lesnar came after what’s most important to him and now he is coming after what’s most important to Lesnar and that’s the WWE Championship. He then asks Lesnar if he will be man enough to come after him at Survivor Series like he came after him tonight.
Match 2: Buddy Murphy vs Cedric Alexander
Murphy is in control early and takes Alexander down to the mat. Alexander fights back and sends Murphy to the outside. Murphy retakes control on the floor and slaps Alexander hard. He then tries another chop but misses and hits the ring post. Alexander drags him in the ring but Murphy hits him with a kick to the face. He then sends Alexander into the ring post. Murphy tries a cover but Alexander kicks out. He tries again but gets the same result. Alexander hits him with shots to the gut but Murphy rips him down to the mat. Murphy works the arm of Alexander and stays on the offensive. Murphy keeps him on the mat but Alexandr is able t get to a vertical base and break the hold. Alexander hits him with a forearm and then a big chop. He now hits him with another chop before Murphy counters. Alexander catches him and rocks him with an elbow. Alexander hits the paralyzer and then flies through the ropes to hit Murphy on the floor. He then flies over the ropes to take him out on the floor. Back in the ring, he hits the flat liner and goes for the cover but Murphy kicks out. Murphy looks for Murphy’s Law but he is countered and Alexander works a pin. Murphy kicks out. Alexander hits the Michinoku driver and goes for the cover but again Murphy kicks out. Murphy fights back and hits a big knee to the spine of Alexander. He then hits Murphy’s LAw and goes for the cover. Murphy gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Buddy Murphy
My Opinion:
Another big win for Murphy as he continues to prove time and time again what he is capable of. Alexander is a very formidable opponent and gave him a run for his money in this back and forth contest but Murphy stayed the course and picked his spot That’s the most important thing to learn and it seems Murphy is really getting how to get the job done and not just trying to be flashy. There is a bright future for Murphy if he continues to pick up small but ultimately huge victories in the long run.
*** We then get a look back at NXT’s takeover of SmackDown from Friday.
Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins heads to ring to discuss his future, next!
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins
Rollins questions what’s next for him. He says it’s been a rough week and a rough couple of months. He says he knows plenty of people are thrilled he lost to The Fiend at Crown Jewel. He says he doesn’t give a damn because what concerns him is The Fiend took the Universal Champion to SmackDown and now Brock Lesnar is back on top with the WWE Championships. He says all he worked for is a wash and now he feels they are starting all over again. He says he knows his thing is redesign, rebuild, reclaim but he doesn’t know if he has the energy for it this time. He asks again what’s next for Seth Rollins and says for the first time in a long time, he doesn’t know. Out comes Triple H!
Triple H questions him for not knowing what’s next. Triple H says it’s funny how history repeats itself and says when Rollins doesn’t seem to know what’s next their paths cross. He says maybe Rollins past is his future. He goes over their history, how Rollins became the first NXT Champion and put that brand on the map. He then tells how The Shield was born, and then Rollins came to him again and he was the WWE Champion. He says it’s that way over and over again. Rollins asks him that was for his own benefit for his benefit. Triple H says does it matter because every time you walked away as a champion. Triple H says you don’t know what’s next but I do. He then reminds him of how NXT took over on Friday. Rollins says you took over when we were stuck overseas. Triple H says they made a statement that NXT is here and it’s real. He says everyone wants to know what is NXT going to do next. He says he is here to know what Seth Rollins is going to do next because what Seth Rollins does next will affect what he does next. He says Survivor Series is Raw versus SmackDown and for the first time ever versus NXT and they have something to prove. Triple H tells him he knows how to get him there and tells Rollins he is either with him at this moment. Here comes the Undisputed Era!!! Triple H then tells him again he is either with him or he’s against him. Out comes The O.C.!!!!
The O.C. runs after Undisputed Era but they retreat. More NXT stars come and attack The O.C. the Undisputed Era now jumps in. Here comes some of the Raw roster and NXT retreats.
My Opinion:
That was awesome!!!! This NXT takeover is one of the best things I have seen in a while and for the first time in a long time, it really feels like a war between the brands just like the old days! I absolutely love this and I can not wait to see what NXT does next and what Seth Rollins will do. This has to get people excited for NXT if they weren’t before and there is no doubt they are making a statement. This is becoming a very exciting time in WWE and it was genius how they capitalized on Friday night and now are doing the same here. The Brand War is back and it’s amazing!!!
Backstage Segment:
Rollins stops Triple H and tells him he came here and wanted to light a fire under his ass and mission accomplished. Rollins says if he is coming to NXT he isn’t coming as a former Universal Champion, he is coming as a top guy. He tells him Daniel Bryan couldn’t get the job done but he can and says give him Adam Cole and an NXT Championship match tonight. Triple H tells him, challenge accepted.
Match 3: Andrade & Zelina Vega vs Sin Cara & Carolina
Andrade attacks Sin Cara early but Sin Cara comes right back and sends Andrade to the floor. Veg gets involved but this allows Carolina to take out Andrade as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, both Andrade and Sin Cara are down. Andrade gets to his feet first and delivers an ax handle to Sin Cara’s back. Andrade puts him on the top rope and meets him up there. Sin Cara fights back and the two trade blows. Andrade grabs his maks and knocks him to the apron with a forearm. Sin Cara hits Andrade and is able to get back up to send Andrade to the mat. Carolina and Vega get the tags. Vega is hit with two big dropkicks. Vega is then hit with a high crossbody. Vega is able to reverse in the corner and then lands a big kick. Vega gets caught and is planted in the ring. Andrade breaks up the cover. Sin Cara comes in to take out Andrade. Vega steps to Sin Cara but Carolina assists to take her out. Vega comes back and lands a basementranna after a big counter. She goes for the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: Andrade and Zelina Vega
My Opinion:
Vega and Andrade pick up the big win and continue to prove how well they work together. They know how to get it done and tonight Vega proved again how great of a wrestler she can be. Vega never gets the shots she deserves but she is a heck of an athlete and I hope her and Andrade can rise to the top and run their respective divisions for a time. They’re a mixed tag team but no doubt they are one successful team. For Sin Cara, he may have to go back to the drawing board if he is ever gonna get over on Andrade.
Backstage Segment: Rusev
Rusev heads to the ring to issue a challenge to Bobby Lashley, next!
In-Ring Segment: Rusev
Rusev says he is sure everyone is going to agree with him when he says tonight is the night to end all the stupid drama. He says he isn’t out here to bicker with his soon to be ex-wife Lana or call her names even though he is sure he can. He says he is here for Bob Lashley, he tells him if he wants Lana she is all his but Lashley’s ass is his. Out comes Bobby Lashley.
Lashley is on crutches as he comes out on the stage. Lashley tells him as much as he would love to come down to the ring and beat him up around this entire arena he is not medically cleared to compete tonight. He says over the weekend he tore his groin. He says he didn’t tear it at Crown Jewel or training to beat Rusev up but he did it doing things and performing in ways Rsuev could only fantasize about. Lana says Rusev isn’t interested in there happy life or sex. He says Rusev is interested in a different kind of fight and someone has volunteered to fight Rusve and he is going to kick his ass. Out comes Drew Mcintyre.
Match 4: Drew Mcintyre vs Rusev
Mcintyre lands a big headbutt and then bounces him off the turnbuckle. Mcintyre brings him to the other corner and does the same before stomping on him. Rusev is launched into the corner but he explodes out and turns things around. He hits Mcintyre with shoulder shots to the gut. He then hits a big right hand and continues beating down Mcintyre in the corner. Mcintyre turns things around and shoves his boot into the face of Rusev. Rusev fires back and lands a right hand a boot. Mcintyre comes right back and knocks him down. He gets on top and lands vicious right hands. Mcintyre continues to beat on him but here comes Rusev. He catches him and lands a big fallaway slam. Rusev is in control as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Mcintyre works the arm of Rusev. Rusev tries to muscle out and does. Rusve hits him with a right hand and another shot to follow. Mcintyre comes back with a spine buster and goes for the cover but Rusev kicks out at 2. Rusev fights back and hits Mcintyre with a clothesline. Rusev continues to hit him and is able to land a spinning heel kick. Rusev misses on the kick and Mcintyre hits him with a double chop to the throat. Rusev fights out of the corner and both men go off the ropes and collide. Both are down. Back to a vertical base both men trade right hands. Rusev gets the advantage with a huge kick that knocks Mcintyre to the outside. Rusev meets him out there and bounces him off the steps. Lashley comes from behind and hits Rusev with the crutch. He then drives Rusev into the barricade. Rusev is bounced off the apron and then thrown in the ring. Rusev gets up and hits him with big right hands. Lashley is then sent into the ring post. Rusev picks up the crutch but from out of nowhere Rusev is hit with the RKO from Randy Orton! Lashley then stomps on Rusev and Orton assists. Out comes Ricochet!
Ricochet hits the ring and sends Lashley to the floor. Orton tries an RKO but Ricochet counters and hits a big kick. Ricochet then hits Lashley and Lashley falls and takes out Lana with them, both crash to the floor.
Winner: Rusev: Via DQ
My Opinion:
First off, what a hard-hitting match between Rusev and Mcintyre. I mean those guys hit hard and really that was anyone’s ballgame before Lashley got involved. Rusev is out for revenge and it showed tonight. Even though he was taken down by a setup there is no doubt he will get his hands on Lashley. As I’ve been saying this isn’t my favorite story of all time but in the end, I hope it leads to a big brawl between Rusev and Lashley and then takes Rusev to the top where he belongs.
Backstage Segment: Becky Lynch

She says the only thing she will have to think about from now until Survivor Series is, which one of her limbs will belong to her. Lynch says she doesn’t know her so she doesn’t know whether to respect her or slap her head off. She says warring with her will change her like it did the rest of them. She says she won’t be taking her eyes off of Bayley either but she is coming from her. Baszler tells her she is really glad she met her. Lynch tells her to bring her best because she will show her who the real Baddest Women on the Planet is.
My Opinion:
That was a really cool and tense interaction between these two. Both Lynch and Baszler are brawlers and you can see this match is going to be about them testing each other. You can see that Bayley is kind of written off but I love that, that sets up for Bayley come and bring more fire and really be the best heel Bayley she can be. There is so much on the line in this match just from the beginning called the baddest women and I can’t wait to see this one, it will be a dream match up to see Baszler and Lynch got at it!
In-Ring Segment: The O.C. & The Street Profits w/ Humberto Carrillo
Styles says he isn’t in the mood tonight. He tells that Gallows and Anderson are the Best Tag Team in the World and there is the trophy to prove it. Styles stays with Carrillo and takes him down to the mat. He rolls him up and uses the ropes for leverage. Styles gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: The O.C. (AJ Styles & Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)
My Opinion:
A big win for The O.C. tonight and I think the way Styles pulled off that win was an important lesson for their younger opponents and that is win at all costs. The Street Profits and Humberto Carrillo have promising futures and have gotten big wins but they have to learn they have to fight fire with fire. This is a match I’d love to see again and if it does happen, hopefully they learn to play a little dirty. Being how prestigious The O.C. truly is with their rich history it is still a big accomplishment for The Street Profits and Carrillo to hang in there and hold their own, I’m excited for what’s next for these guys!
Backstage Segment: Adam Cole & Triple H

Erik takes control early and takes one of the polo boys down. Ivar goes to the outside and lays the other one out. Erik still in the ring lands big backbreakers and tags in Ivar. Erik slams him and Ivar lands a huge splash. 1 2 3, it’s over.

He tells them to enjoy their trophy. Ivar says oftentimes victory is no more than survival. He tells them to thank the gods because they may have won a battle but nothing can stop the raid.
Winners: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
My Opinion:
A very quick and dominating win from the tag champs again. Still as tag champs I want to see them do more than this because it isn’t proving much about them. I think they would benefit more from facing teams on the roster but the good news is they have a huge opportunity at Survivor Series to do just that. They definitely have to be the favorites in that match and like every night they will bring the raid!

It sees evened up now and the brawl is still on! Ricochet flies over the ropes and takes everyone out! Brawl continues on as Raw goes off the air!
Winner: Seth Rollins: Via DQ: Adam Cole Still NXT Champion
My Opinion:
First what an awesome contest between Cole and Rollins to end the night. These are two of the best and they delivered and even though we didn’t get the clean finish we got something better and that was the huge brawl! If you have to excited about Survivor Series after that. This is a real war between the brands and I can’t wait to see what happens on NXT on Wednesday! This is amazing and I’m very hyped up for this!!!
Final Thoughts:
What a Monday Night Raw! That is how it’s done and I loved tonight so much, I really feel like they hit this one out of the park. First, I loved two things kicked off with an irate Brock Lesnar. Heyman did well in hyping this up and then we got see once again what The Beast is all about. Rey Mysterio got the better of him and now we have a big WWE Championship match at Survivor Series! Throughout the night we had a lot of competitive matchups which was awesome! I love all the guys getting opportunities and it is a nice change in the landscape of Raw. Murphy and Alexander did well in their match, Carrillo and The Street Profits continue to kill it, and Mcintyre and Rusev had a very hard-hitting battle! The big thing tonight was the takeover by NXT. This continues to build to what is such a special and exciting time in WWE. We have this brand war back and I love every second of it. The O.C. coming out to defend Raw was awesome first off. Then I loved the face-off between Becky Lynch and Shayna Baszler, they look like they are out to get one another and when they lock up in a few weeks it is going to be a brawl! Plus, with Bayley in that match you never know how it will go but whoever wins will definitely be the Baddest Women in WWE! Finally we got to see this amazing main event tonight, I mean Seth Rollins facing Adam Cole is something I’ve wanted to see in WWE for a long time! They had an awesome match and then the brawl to end the night was perfect! This is a very exciting time in WWE and the war is just getting started!!!!
Overall Rating: 8/10
