Raw comes to us from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
Raw kicks off with us being welcomed by Jerry “The King” Lawler, Samoa Joe, and Vic Joseph.
In-Ring Segment: Divorce Court w/ Jerry “The King” Lawler
King tells how we’ve been witness to the demise of the marriage of Lana and Rusev. He says he was hoping he could reconcile it but he couldn’t so tonight he is here to oversee the signing of the divorce contract. He then introduces Lana. King tells how Lana waived the distance portion of the protection but everything else will be enforced to the fullest extent of the law. He then brings out Rusev.
Rusev says hello to the crowd. Lana tells him not to interrupt her and Rusev says you weren’t even talking. Lana tells him that she used to love him so much even when the WWE Universe didn’t love him. Lana tells how Rusev always tries to make it about him. She tells how Rusev became another statistic. She says clearly no one loved him but her but when Rusev Day supports came it got to his head. She says he and the entire WWE Universe made their marriage fail. Rusev tells her to calm down. Rusev then shows a video of what happened last week where Lashley and Lana got arrested. Lana then calls him the most selfish monster. She tells how no one will ever compare to her and no one will love Rusev like she did. She tells him he will never find someone like her again. Rusev says he can barely stand her so why does he need another one like her. She tells that he should of picked her and it’s his fault and it’s the WWE universe’s fault their marriage failed. Rusev says this is getting ridiculous and we should get to the point and sign the divorce papers. Rusev says he will sign first. Lana snatches the papers and says she is going to sign first. Rusev tells that it’s always a competition in their household. Lana tells how she wants to get their dog. They then argue about this. She calls him a Bulgarian son of a bitch and he tells her to shut up. Ruseb then says before he signs one more thing. She asks what and asks if he wants sex again, she then calls him sick. Rusev says no, what I want is a match with your hot hot boyfriend Bobby Lashley. Out comes Lashley.
Lashley says this is ridiculous and you think this is a big joke. He tells that this is his Lana and when this is over he is going to ask her to marry him. Rusev says she is all yours, runaway and get married. He says she is just bad and he wants to live happily on Rusev Day. Rusev says he will sign this and he will see Lashley anytime in any kind of match because that is going to happen on Rusev Day. Lashley then strikes him and gets the better of him. Rusev fights back and lands a huge kick. He then sends Lashley through the table.
My Opinion:
This was definitely an interesting way to start the night and it does seem like this story is going to continue on. Hopefully, Rusev and Lashley will have their big blow out and they will kill it when they do. It’s been quite the story but as I’ve said I hope it makes sense in the end. It hasn’t been my favorite thing I’ve seen but at least ending it well will give this some closure.
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Charly welcomes Kevin Owens and asks if he figured out why he was attacked by AOP. he says yeah it was because of Seth Rollins and they are doing everything he says. He tells how he was the only one who stood up to Rollins and he thinks that why they are attacking him. He says he was lucky he got away but he did get away and that is going to be a problem for AOP so he is going to go look for them. He walks away and comes across Rey Mysterio. Mysterio asks how it’s going and Owens says he’s going to look for AOP. Mysterio offers to watch his back. Owens says he appreciates that but he can’t let him do that. Mysterio says oh my homie has got you and gives Owens the steel pipe he used on Lesnar. Owens thanks him.
Match 1: Drew Mcintyre vs Matt Hardy
*** Before the match Mcintrye tells how the show started depressing but here we are about making people smile. He then says he has some good news and tells how Hardy just had a new baby boy. He then makes fun of Hardy and his newborn and asks because of Hardy’s past outside of the ring if it is a good idea for him to be reproducing in case one of the kids follows in his footsteps. He then gives Hardy the chance to leave the ring and fight another day but instead Hardy attacks Mcintyre as he enters the ring and hits him with the Twist Of Fate as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Mcintyre goes after Hardy but Hardy turns it around and works Mcintyre in the corner. Hardy is able to send him to the floor and he is in control. Hardy looks for the Twist Of Fate on the floor but Mcintyre counters and sends him into the steps. Back in the ring, he hits Hardy with vicious strikes. He then gets him in the corner and hits him in the gut. Hardy fights back and sends him into the ring post. Hardy hits the Side Effect and goes for the cover but Mcintyre kicks out. Mcintyre counters the Twist Of Fate but Hardy stays with it. Mcintyre works out of a cover and hits the future shock DDT. Mcintyre then hits the Claymore kick and gets the 1 2 3 on the cover.
Winner: Drew Mcintyre
My Opinion:
Once again Mcintyre gets the job done and this time he did it against the legendary Matt Hardy. Mcintyre finished this match off pretty quick and showed how resilient he is considering Hardy started off the match hot. Mcintyre has been on a roll but it needs to be capitalized on. Mcintyre has all the tools to be a champion and if he keeps winning like this where else or what else can he do besides go for the gold.
Backstage Segment: Earlier Today: Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair
Charlotte tells Lynch she doesn’t like her, Lynch says the feeling is mutual. Charlotte says but right now she doesn’t like the Kabuki Warriors even more. She then asked Lynch if she wants to be Becky 2 Belts again. She says she has but would rather take them on herself and collect an old debt. Charlotte questions her and tells her good luck with that.
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens walks around and asks some people if they’ve seen AOP. He then asks Mojo if he’s seen them and Mojo jokes with him and says they went that way, no they went that way, no that way. He then slaps Mojo and says and you went that way, idiot.
In-Ring Segment: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Erik says for weeks they have been searching for worthy opponents but all they’ve encountered are victims so tonight they issue an open challenge to any team who thinks they can take their gold. Ivar says now let the raid begin.
Match 2: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) (c) vs The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins): Raw Tag Team Championship Match
Ford jumps over Erik and Erik crashes into the corner. Dawkins comes in and hits a big spear will Ford takes out Ivar. Dawkins plants Erik. *** After the match Erik and Ivar show respect to The Street Profits for their efforts. Out comes Seth Rollins. Rollins says he hates to interrupt but there is something he has to take care of right now and says they’re more than welcome to stay out here while he does. Both teams leave the ring.
Winners: the Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar): Still Raw Tag Team Champions
My Opinion:
The Street Profits came out hot but the problem is if The Viking Raiders weather the storm they are almost impossible to beat. They did get tested tonight but they fought back and showed why they are the champions. This was the kind of match they need because who they have been facing hasn’t shown much but this one reminded everyone of who they are. I hope they keep having open challenges like this as it will really help the tag titles and for that matter, I hope Ford and Dawkins get another shot at them.
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins
Rollins says he has something to take care of and that is the unfinished business of the AOP. he says he doesn’t care if he has to do it 2 on 1 but he wants to fight them right now. Out comes Kevin Owens.
Rollins tells him this doesn’t concern him and this is between him and the AOP and there is no need for the steel pipe. Owens says AOP isn’t here so that’s why you’re calling them out. He says the pipe is for them and not Rollins, yet. Owens asks him when they are going to get here. On the titantron AOP are shown arriving at the arena as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Rollins tells Owens that AOP is going to come down here and kick his ass but it has nothing to do with him. He says that’s fine but it won’t be with Rollins in their corner because he can take him out right now. Owens says that it’s convenient that AOP shows up as soon as they are out here in the ring. Rollins says he’s going to leave because he is going to show he has nothing to do with this. Owens tells Rollins when he is done with them he is coming for them. He then tells AOP to come and find him, he isn’t hard to find. AOP comes on the screen and talk in the native language. Owens says all strong points he can’t argue with any of them. He calls them out and tells them to get this over with. Out comes Sami Zayn and Mojo.
Zayn says he knows he knows he isn’t supposed to be here but he got around this by getting a managerial license so he can go back and forth. He says he is a liberator and he sets people free. Zayn tells Owens he knows he has a lot on his plate. He says he doesn’t judge him but what he did to Mojo backstage was way out of line. He tells Owens he humiliated him. He tells he knows better than anyone how dangerous Owens can be when he is in his own head. He says he would love to help him but he has to admit he was wrong, He asks Owens to apologize. Mojo tells Owens he is not going to disrespect Zayn too. Zayn tells him not to take that tone when he has that look on his face and steel pipe on his hand. Mojo says everyone is tough with a steel pipe in their hand. Owens says let’s test that theory. He throws it to Mojo and then hits him with a Stunner. He unloads on Mojo hitting him with the pipe as Raw goes to break.
My Opinion:
This story continues to build and it is amazing. I love how we still don’t know where Rollins stands and he continues to toe the line. For Owens, each week it keeps getting better and better. He is everything that people have wanted him to be and there is no doubt this is going to lead to huge things for him. Hopefully, he gets his hands on AOP and continues to be the rebel of Raw!
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens walks around and continues to ask people if they’ve seen AOP. He continues the hunt for them.
Backstage Segment: Earlier Today: Buddy Murphy
Murphy says he is better than Aleister Black and he will prove that to Black and the entire WWE Universe when he beats him at the TLC PPV.
Match 3: Aleister Black vs Akira Tozawa
Tozawa and Black start off the match slow and trade counters. Black is able to get the advantage and send Tozawa down in the corner. Black works his arm again and lands a kick. Tozawa comes back with two arm drag takedowns. Tozawa is stopped in his tracks and now Black gets back in control with a series of strikes. Tozawa is able to come back and send Black to the outside. Tozawa flies but is hit with a jumping knee. Black sends him back into the ring. Black hits Black Mass and covers for the 1 2 3.
Winner: Aleister Black
My Opinion:
I really loved the slower pace to this match and the way both guys were able to make their moves count. Tozawa messed up once and that’s all it took. That is something you have to look for with Black because he is always one move away from turning someone’s lights out. I would love to see this match again but with more time. I think Black can have an amazing match with anyone and this Sunday when he faces Buddy Murphy don’t miss that match, it is going to be good!
Backstage Segment: Humberto Carrillo
Charly welcomes Humberto Carrillo. She goes to ask him a question but Zelina interrupts. Carrillo tells her ladies first. Andrade comes up and the two shove each other and yell at each other in Spanish. Zelina then says tonight?
Match 4: Andrade w/ Zelina Vega vs Humberto Carrillo
Andrade attacks Carrillo and takes him down easily unloading with strikes. He hits him with a chop in the corner and continues to work him. He lands a huge backdrop and drives a cover but Carrillo kicks out. Carrillo tries to fight back and does for a moment but he comes off the ropes and is hit with a huge elbow. Andrade gets him in the corner and hits him with an uppercut. Andrade lands a huge kick and tries a cover but Carrillo again kicks out. Andrade lands a right hand and follows with a chop. Carrillo fights back and finally creates offense with a high crossbody. He then lands an arm drag and sends Andrade to the outside. Carrillo goes up top and lands a moonsault to the outside as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Carrillo lands another high crossbody. He lands a kick to the face. A moonsault and then a cover but Andrade just kicks out. Carrillo lands a clothesline in the corner and follows with a chop. Andrade is placed up top and Carrillo meets him. Andrade hangs him up and lands a double stomp. He goes for the cover but Carrillo kicks out. Andrade lands a kick in the corner and then looks for double knees but Carrillo moves out of the way. Carrillo looks to fly and connects with the missile dropkick. Carrillo its the Aztec Press and goes for the cover but again Andrade kicks out. Carrillo connects with an elbow and looks for a kick but misses. Andrade now hits with an elbow and goes for the cover but Carrillo now kicks out. Andrade goes up top and flies but has to land on his feet. Andrade stays with it and hits double knees. Carrilo comes back and takes out Andrade in the corner with a dropkick. Carrillo is sent towards the ropes but stops himself so he doesn’t hit Vega. Andrade then accidentally knocks her out the floor. Carrillo rolls him up and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Humberto Carrillo
My Opinion:
Wow, what a match between these two! They went back and forth and hit each other with all that they had. That was a beautiful piece of wrestling right there and I hope this only the start of a longer series of matches. For once Vega got Andrade tripped up but I think they will figure things out, Vga is too important to Andrade and what he does for them to lose that business relationship. For Carrillo, this is a huge win for him and he needs to ride this wave of momentum and get back one a roll.
Backstage Segment: Rey Mysterio
Mysterio says tonight he has the honor of defending his U.S. title against the former champion AJ Styles. He says the title was there when he lost his confidence but his son reminded him what the Mysterio name means. He tells Styles if he beats him, he will be the first to congratulate him. He says he promises he will do everything in his power to prove to his family, the WWE Universe and himself that he is worthy of being called Rey Mysterio and still the United States Champion.
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens continues the hunt and is told AOP just headed to their van down to the right.
Backstage Segment: Aleister Black
Black tells Murphy his words better be fighting words because if their not than Murphy’s biggest mistake he’s ever made was to knock on his door and pick a fight with him.
Match 5: Buddy Murphy vs Zack Ryder w/ Curt Hawkins
Murphy goes right after Ryder and gets the upper hand. He mocks Aleister Black and this allows Ryder to get back into it. Murphy fights him off and tries a cover but Ryder kicks out. Ryder comes back and plants him face first. He lands a dropkick and then a kick in the corner. Ryder hits the Broski boot and sends Murphy to the floor. Murphy then takes a cheap shot on Hawkins. Ryder lands a dropkick and sends him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Murphy lands a jumping knee and then connects with Murphy’s Law. He goes for the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
Winner: Buddy Murphy
My Opinion:
Murphy picks up a quick victory against a game Zack Ryder and although impressive Murphy showed that he was a little overconfident and thinking ahead too much. He may be able to get away with that with Ryder but he for sure won’t when it comes to Aleister Black. Black seems more focused than ever and Murphy will have to put his cockiness aside if he plans on walking out with a victory.
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens stands in front of the van and hits the windshield. He then breaks some of the windows and ass if they’re in there. He continues to hammer on the van. He hits the back doors and opens it up but they’re not there. AOP grabs him from behind and attacks him. Then beat Owens down and then hit him with the backdoor of the van. In the back of the van is Seth Rollins. Rollins tells Owens it has come to this, it’s a shame. He then curb stomps Owens into the concrete. Rollins and AOP then walk away.
Seth Rollins Promo
Rollins comes out to the stage and asks the crowd what they want from him. He says he has been asking himself for a long time now. He says they use to get along and see things eye to eye but it all went wrong and now he is trying to figure out why. He says he does things right and lays it on the line for everyone. He says he sticks his neck out for the fans and he gets spit on and gets disrespected and he is sick of it. He says last week he said he had nothing to do with AOP and that was the truth but it wasn’t good enough and he was called a liar. He says why because some idiot who couldn’t lace his boots called him a liar. He says he came out this week and said he had nothing to do with AOP and it was the truth and but it wasn’t good enough. He then asks what’s good enough for you people, he questions if he has to go in the ring and kill himself. He tells how he beat Lesnar twice and brought the title back. He says if you want to push me then it’s time for me to push back. He says his self-fulfilling prophecy has turned fiction into fact and it has turned him to stand side by side with AOP. Out comes AOP to stand side by side with Rollins.
My Opinion:
That was pretty awesome right there. Now it seems Rollins is truely with AOP and you wonder what this means, if Rollins is with them they can run Raw and they will be unstoppable. Owens has to realize now this fight may be too big for him to fight but then again I think Owens can find ways to fight back. He may be down but never count out KO!
Backstage Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens is put on a stretcher and placed into the ambulance.
Match 6: Becky Lynch vs The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane): 2 On 1 Handicap Match
Lynch starts the match off hot taking it to Asuka. Asuka has to regroup but off the distraction, Asuka takes advantage and takes it to Lynch off the cheap shot. Lynch counters Asuka and grabs both she and Sane. she takes them both down and covers but Sane kicks out. Lynch goes up top but she is hit with a right hand. She then takes a nasty landing to the mat. Sane looks for the elbow ut crashes and burns. Asuka tagged in but Lynch sees it and lands a becksploder on Asuka. She then misses on the leg drop and Asuka puts on the Asuka Lock. Lynch looks to get to the ropes but can’t she works to her feet and she puts the Asuka Lock on Asuka. Sane on the outside pulls Asuka to the outside. Sane hits Lynch and brings Asuka into the ring. Sane grabs Lynch but Lynch fights back and sends her into the barricade Lynch then plants Asuka on the outside. Asuka comes back and catches Lynch with a knee as Lynch tried to fly off the apron. Lynch is able to get back into the ring but she gets caught with a shining wizard. Asuka covers but Lynch kicks out. Asuka and Lynch trade blows and both work back up to their feet. Lynch is shaved into the corner and now Sane comes in to help out Asuka. Sane tags in and flies off the top to take down Lynch with the help of Asuka. She covers but Lynch kicks out. *** After the match Sane then brings out a table. Asuka hits Lynch and brings her over to the table. Sane goes up top and hits the Insane Elbow to put Lynch through the table.
Winner: Becky Lynch: Via DQ
My Opinion:
Lynch put up one heck of a fight in this one and if not for the numbers game constantly catching up I think she really could have beaten them both. I like what Asuka and Sane are doing though because they don’t always care about winning and instead about proving a point. This makes them very dangerous and a team is really going to have to step up to beat them. Now if this tonight sets up to a tables match on Sunday for the tag titles I think that’ll be awesome. Not only will it be a great match but it will give a huge spotlight to the tag titles which will be awesome!
Backstage Segment: The O.C.
Styles tells it’s time for O.C. business and he is with the best tag team in the world. He tells the Viking Raiders they can run but sooner or later, sooner his boys are taking the tag titles from them and they are going to celebrate with him after he takes the U.S. title from Rey Mysterio tonight. He tells Orton if he tries to stick his nose in this tonight they might end his career forever, or for life.
*** The NWO and Batista have been named to the 2020 Hall Of Fame Class
Backstage Segment: Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair
Charlotte asks Lynch how that went. She says fine if it means she got her shot at Asuka. Charlotte then walks out of the trainers and she is attacked by Sane and Asuka.
Match 7: Erick Rowan vs Local Competitor
The local competitor grabs Rowan’s cage and brings it up the ramp. He then drops it and runs back through the crowd to the ring. Rowan runs up there and the local competitor tells the ref to start the count trying to get a count-out victory. Rowan runs down to the ring and plants the guy twice. He continues to yell at him and finally plants him for a third time. The ref then stops the match. Rowan lifts him again and plants him once more. Rowan goes back up the ramp and grabs the cage.
Winner: No Contest
My Opinion:
Erick Rowan destroyed his opponent once again and what he has in that cage continues to be a mystery. I’m still not sure where this will go or what could be in there but hopefully, we find out sooner than later and this doesn’t go down as one of those unanswered questions.
Backstage Segment:
Charly asks Asuka and Sane what’s next for them. They speak in Japanese and Charly doesn’t understand. Charly says she is beginning to see she needs to learn more languages but then asks if they can translate. Asuka says they challenge Lynch and Flair to challenge them on Sunday for their titles.

Dawkins then talks about Corbin and Reigns and says Corbin has Napoleon Complex. Ford tells him that Corbin is bigger than both of them. Dawkins says not where it counts. Ford says we want the smoke. Dawkins says he can have the smoke, he’s gonna need an ice pick.

Styles then picks him up and drops him to the mat. Out of nowhere comes Randy Orton but he doesn’t hit the RKO and just looks at him. Mysterio works an inside cradle and gets the 1 2 3 as Raw goes off the air.
Winner: Rey Mysterio: United States Champion
My Opinion:
What a match to end the night. Mysterio showed the heart of a champion tonight and fought through so much. Styles gave him a fight for sure but just couldn’t get it done. It almost seemed like Styles felt this was easy and didn’t take it as seriously as he should have. Mysterio did what he had to do and with a little help from the mind games of Orton, he was able to retain the title. I think there is a lot of great things Mysterio can do with the title and for Styles, he can go on and have a great match or matches with Orton!
Final Thoughts:
Tonight was a decent Raw, I loved the Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens story that went on throughout the night. It had a big payoff in the end and that’s the kind of thing we need more of at times. It’ll be interesting to see Owens next move but right now Rollins is in good company and when he and Owens finally do meet it’s going to be a huge match! I thought the match between Andrade and Humberto Carrillo was amazing, those two went at it and gave all they had. This is a match I’d love to see again because those guys deliver! I was excited to see both Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy pick up victories, I think with both guys having momentum going into Sunday, we could see a classic match between the two. I was also super excited to see that the Women’s Tag Team Championships will be defended in a TLC Match! This is huge for all four women involved and the titles. They will bring their A-Game and it is going to be one to watch for on Sunday. Also, a big congrats to the NWO and Batista for being announced to the Hall Of Fame, it is well deserved and I can’t wait to see their inductions! Finally, to end the night Mysterio hung in there and pulled off the huge title defense. It was an awesome match and now I can’t wait to see who challenges Mysterio next. I’m always very excited to see a clash between Orton and Styles! Overall I cannot wait for this Sunday, I truly believe if done right there are some big matches that can really deliver and it’s slated to be a great show!
Overall Rating: 6/10
