In-Ring Segment: Kevin Owens
Owens says yesterday marked 5 years since he signed his WWE contract. He tells how in those 5 years he has created memories he will never forget and has gotten to face off against guys he has looked up to. He talks about how special SummerSlam was having his whole family there watching him kick Shane McMahon’s ass. He says he remembers hitting Shane with the Stunner for the rest of his life. He then turns his attention to The King of the Ring Tournament and says winning that would be as great as winning any title he has won in the WWE. he then reminds of the list of legends who have won this prestigious tournament. Shane McMahon comes out and the two go back and forth about SummerSlam. Shane shows how Owens hit him with a low blow and questions Owens as a man. Owens says with his career on the line a man wins any way he has to. Shane then brings up how Owens took out Elias and reminds that during this Elias was an official. He then tells Owens he is going to be fined 100,000 dollars. Owens asks him to reconsider and Shane says no. it is also announced that Owens will have a match later tonight.
My Opinion:
Unfortunately for, Owens he just can’t shake Shane just yet. You’d think with him getting the victory and saving his career Shane would be gone for a little bit and then come back to haunt Owens. It seems Owens isn’t finished with him and is going to have to continue fighting this uphill battle. Hopefully, in a month or two Owens can actually shake him and get out of this authority power saga.
Backstage Segment:
Charlotte and Ember Moon head to the ring for their match.
Backstage Segment:
Kevin Owens confronts Shane in his office but Shane says he’s here as an official not as a competitor. Shane says he will fine and sue Owens for everything he has if he lays a hand on him. Shane tells him he won’t change his mind on the fine. Owens says let’s make it $105,000. Owens then picks up a stool and slams it through Shane’s TV. Owens walks off as Shane smirks.
Match 1: Charlotte Flair vs Ember Moon
Charlotte is able to get Moon down and starts the match off hot. Charlotte stays on the attack of Moon and doesn’ let her to her feet. Flair hits her with a shoulder but Moon stays in it. Moon and Flair trade strikes before Moon is taken down with a big boot. Flair locks in the Figure Four and bridges into the Figure 8. Moon taps out.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
My Opinion:
This is another big win for Charlotte and even though she has spent some time away from the title picture you have to believe she is getting back into it. Ember was doing great but after two touhg losses, it seems she has to go back to the drawing board. There is no question Charlotte is the hottest women’s competitor on SmackDown right now.
Backstage Segment:
Rowan and Daniel Bryan are walking around.
On Stage Segment: Daniel Bryan and Rowan
Bryan says someone is out to get Roman Reigns but he and Rowan had nothing to do with it despite Murphy accusing them. He then calls Murphy a liar but says he doesn’t blame him cause every fan would do the same if they were pinned up against the wall by Roman Reigns. Bryan says Murphy had to give a name but tells he gave the wrong name. He goes on about how this is the problem with society that someone will tell a lie and it spreads on social media and it becomes the truth. He says he hates to disappoint but they had nothing to do with it and they are going to prove it tonight.
My Opinion:
Bryan seemed convincing but it seems odd that Murphy would pick them if they didn’t do it. Murphy could have picked anyone and it would have made more sense for him to pick one man and a man that he could beat rather than two men. We will see if Bryan and Rowan can convincingly actually clear their names.
Backstage Segment:
Shane McMahon is asked about Roman Reigns opponent tonight. Samoa Joe comes up and says he’s heard Owens has been walking around like a badass but the only badass around here is him. Shane likes this and says Joe will teach Owens a lesson tonight and show him you have to respect authority.

He is then hit with a serious of knees before a brainbuster. Murphy goes for the cover and just barely Reigns kicks out. Murphy goes up top but Reigns stops him. He hits him with a right that sends Murphy to the floor. Reigns meets him out there and hits the Superman Punch off the steps. Back in the ring, Reigns hits the spear and gets the 1 2 3 on the cover.
Winner: Roman Reigns
My Opinion:
What a match between these two! Murphy went out there and made the most of his opportunity. He gave all he had and just came up short against Reigns. This though is why Reigns is who he is because it doesn’t take much for him to get the win. Murphy has made a name for himself tonight but Reigns also made his statement that if he suspects you know anything or did anything he will take you out. Nonetheless, this is a match I’d love to see again and Murphy has big things in his future if he keeps this up!

Owens comes back and Joe goes to the outside. Owens goes to the apron and Joe knocks him off. Back in the ring, Joe continues to beat him down with kicks to the body. Owens gets to a vertical base and hits him with big rights. Joe fights back and turns him inside out with a clothesline. Joe then uses the ropes to choke Owens. Owens fights back again with right hands but is pushed down into the corner. Owens comes with a right and Joe comes with a forearm. Joe hits a snap mare and works the neck of Owens. Owens hits with the dropkick and then hits a senton. Owens goes for the cover but Joe kicks out. Joe is sent off the ropes but he stops Owens and hits him. He then spikes Owens into the mat and goes for the cover but Owens kicks out. Owens is placed on the top rope and Joe looks for a suplex from the second rope. Owens knocks him off and hits the senton. Owens goes for the cover but Joe gets the shoulder up. Owens looks for the Stunner but Joe fights out and gets the Coquina Clutch locked in. Owens hits the pop up powerbomb and goes for the cover but Elias pulls the ref out. Joe rolls up Owens and Elias counts the quick 1 2 3.
Winner: Samoa Joe
My Opinion:
The saga continues for Owens as he has a victory stolen from him tonight. He has to imagine this is going to continue on so he is going to have to find some way to fight off power of Shane. Joe gets the cheap victory but a victory nonetheless. Owens needs to bounce back especially with The King of the Ring being right around the corner.
Backstage Segment:
Bryan and Rowan kick everyone out of the locker room and then tell Murphy they know he lied and know why he did lie. Bryan tells him to tell everyone that he lied. Match 4: The New Day vs The Revival & Randy Orton
*** Before the match, Orton comes out and asks Kofi how he can come out here and cheerlead for his boys when he ran away from a fight at SummerSlam. Orton says he knows why he ran away and he knows why because he knows he can’t beat him. He says 11 years again he couldn’t beat him and can’t now. He tells Kofi worst of al he ran away in front of his wife and his two sons. He tells him years from now his sons will asks him why he took the easy way out and ran away from that big scary man. He says Kofi will look them in the eyes and say he can’t beat Randy Orton. He tells Kofi he will give him one more chance to prove hm wrong, how about you and I join in and have a 6 man tag.

Dawson then goes after the arm of Woods. Wilder tags in and stomps on the arm of Woods. Wilder then goes back to the submission hold on Woods. Woods tosses Wilder and is able to hit him with a rolling elbow. Dawson tags in and stops Woods form getting the tag. Woods tries to fight off Dawson but can’t Woods is sent to the outside and the newly tagged Orton bounces Woods off the announce desk as SmackDown Live goes to break.
As SmackDown Live returns, Dawson hits Woods with a northern lights suplex. Dawson goes for the cover but Woods kicks out. Dawson then taunts Woods. Dawson pulls him by the hair and then goes back to work on his arm. Woods gets to his feet but again Dawson slows him down. Woods shift momentum and sends Dawson off the ring post. The Revival then pick up Big E and Orton hits him with one too. Orton then hits one more on Kofi.
Winners: The Revival & Randy Orton
My Opinion:
Randy Orton strikes tonight laying out the whole New Day. The Revival come out the real winners destroying Woods and showing they can beat them clean. This was a good match to end the night but it is clear Orton is not done with Kofi and he is out to get the title. For The Revival it is clear they want the tag titles and after tonight even though they are Raw guys you have to think they are in consideration.
Backstage Segment:
Bryan tells Reigns they have been waiting for him. Bryan tells him to go ahead and apologize. He reminds him he apologized to Samoa Joe last week when he thought he was invovled. He tells him again to go ahead and apologize. Bryan tells him before this turns into a melee and someone gets hurt they want him to know they have been conducting their own investigation and next week they will bring him the culprit.
Final Thoughts:
This was a good show but a lot of the same thing going on but we did see some good matches throughout. Kevin Owens had his huge match at SummerSlam but we get back to tonight and he deals with the same things he already was. I think it would’ve been smart to have Shane stay away for a while but hopefully, this will end up with a greater ending. Charlotte was impressive taking down Ember tonight. Charlotte is fighting her way back to the top and no doubt she is getting into the title picture. Randy Orton seems to have some unfinished business and definitely made a statement laying out all of The New Day. The Revival got the win for their team in that 6 man tag so you have to believe they will be showing up on SmackDown again. I was very impressed with Buddy Murphy tonight, he took Reigns to the limit and made a statement that he is a competitor. It’ll be interesting to see the opportunities he will get following this. Finally, the Roman Reigns story continues and I hope we get more answers next week. It will be very interesting to see where this pay off goes!
