This Week in NXT 07/17/19
I’m starting off this week’s chat with the Street Profits because I simply can’t get enough of these two. They’ve been getting more air time and deservingly so! They have personality, charisma and a pure entertainment factor that can’t be taught. Though their segments have been funny, I assure you they should be taken seriously, especially in the ring. I can’t wait for what’s next for them!
The women’s division is still disoriented until further notice, but I have high hopes that by the next TakeOver, everything is going to get settled in the ring. I’m loving Io Shirai’s new attitude. Most women in this industry have this sort of breakthrough to let their independence thrive. Does Io really not need anyone though? I guess we’ll find out!
Next, according to Adam Cole, there’s an undisputed power switch happening in NXT…then Johnny Wrestling came out and reminded him he’s still around. As Mauro Ranallo so eloquently stated (well, screamed): “Johnny Wrestling is Johnny pissed off.” I love this dynamic feud and storyline; so much so, I don’t want it to end. Any rivalry that has the crowd split and cheering for both are the ones that have always stood the test of time for me.
When I watch NXT, my imagination is super stimulated and focused. I think about what’s ahead and what’s next; most importantly, where do they all end up? Does the magic they’ve created transcend on the main roster? There will always be periods of low ratings and dissatisfaction from the WWE Universe, but I truly feel like NXT has made a difference in how we view our favourite superstars and the overall product. I stand by that with conviction. Back in the day, we never really got to see wrestlers in their development stages and now that we have that opportunity now, it adds value to us, the fans. There’s this compelling energy that comes from that and I hope it never goes away. Triple H is doing a superb job, ladies and gentlemen.
Now that I’ve expressed my deepest emotions (that was therapeutic by the way), I hope you are riding for NXT as much as I am as of late. Let us know what you’re enjoying most about it in the comments!
