Jordan’s TNA One Night Only 1/6/17 Review
TNA One Night Only 1/6/17 Review
Decided last minute to order this show to watch with Brandon since we didn’t have anything else to do on this Friday night.
Davey Richards vs. Lashley
I tuned in a little late as we were trying to get the FITE app to connect to my smart TV but I caught most of the match. Pretty enjoyable back and forth action here. The dives to the outside from Richards were cool, the Powerslam on the apron was brutal, the finish was kinda random and I kinda wanted the match to keep going but it was a very solid performance from both men. Very good opener!

DJ Z vs. Braxton Sutter vs. Trevor Lee vs. Andrew Everett in an Elimination Match for the X-Division Championship
Hot start with some nice double team moves and dives. Andrew Everett is out first which sucks because he’s awesome. Braxton Sutter out second. The near falls at the end of this rules. Lee almost kicked DJ’s head off. DJ Z barely kicked out of a deadlift German and I was pretty sold he would win. Trevor Lee’s standing double stomp never gets old to watch, such a cool move. Lee’s selling of the ZDT was awesome. DJ Z retains. Trevor Lee was the star of this match. Tons of fun but nothing we’ve never seen before.

Robbie E vs. Bram
Robbie calls out any member of the DCC to fight. I kinda dig the DCC’s theme song. Bram’s accent got like even thicker since the last time I heard him speak. Bram tries to take the night off and looks to head to the back but Robbie dives on top of him. Robbie’s tights bother me, maybe because I’m not used to him wearing them. This is mainly just dominance from Bram. Robbie shows some fire in his comeback but gets stopped quickly. Bram nails a brutal pop-up powerbomb for a near fall. Bram hits another pop-up powerbomb followed by a lariat but Robbie kicked out again! Robbie is showing a lot of fight here, he’s sticking in it. Robbie hits the Boom Drop (a move I kinda hate) but can’t make the pin. It looked like Bram removed some turnbuckle padding or something which distracted the referee and then Bram low blowed Robbie and hit The Brighter Side of Suffering for the win. This was mostly Bram dominance even though Robbie showed some fight but it was a decent match overall.

Moose vs. Mike Bennett in a No Holds Barred Match
I hate hearing Maria talk, I’m sorry. She makes me cringe. I’m having so much buffering and I’m just trying to get past Bennett’s entrance. It ends up just skipping ahead and a ladder has already come into play. Moose misses an outside dive and lands brutally on the ladder! Ouch. The buffering is awful during this one. I’m missing a lot of this match thanks to buffering. It’s back and a table has come into play. Bennett throws two chairs in the ring. Bennett brings a chair to the top rope but Moose dropkicks him which was cool. Moose with a pop-up powerbomb, senton, and a fucking moonsault! This man is insane! Moose went for the Game Changer but Bennett hit a very nice superkick and not long after a piledriver followed by a piledriver on the chair and I was convinced that was it but Moose kicked out. Two handed chokeslam off the top from Moose but Bennett kicks out. This is enjoyable! More buffering, shiiiiit. We get back and Moose backdrops Bennett through a table! Moose grabs another table. I love me some tables. Moose went for a springboard to Mike through the table but Bennett countered with a sick cutter through the table! Bennett can’t make the pin quick enough though and Moose kicks out. Moose hits the Game Changer and almost wins but Maria interrupts the pin barely. Bennett goes for a spear but he accidentally spears his wife and Moose hits the Game Changer for the win. That match was really entertaining! I enjoyed the hell out of it!

Marshe Rockett vs. Mahabali Shera
I’ve never seen Marshe Rockett wrestle and I don’t really care. He calls everyone jive turkeys and I don’t know how I feel about that. Shera is his opponent so I already know this match will suck. Rockett does the Shera Shuffle which was hilarious. This match was okay but had no place on this show. Shera wins with the Sky High.

Rosemary vs. Sienna for the TNA Knockouts Championship
Slow start here, nothing much to talk about. The first notable moment was Sienna missing a senton from the second rope which couldn’t feel good at all. Rosemary honestly kinda scares me. Sienna hits the Silencer and Rosemary goes flying! As Sienna was still outside of the ring Earl Hebner shouts “get in here, dammit!” and I laughed so hard. Rosemary spits mist in Sienna’s face and hits her finisher for the win. Decent match.

James Storm vs. Jessie Godderz
Jessie cut a really good pre-match promo. That guy really has improved so much since he first came to TNA. Godderz did a hurricanrana while Storm was on the top rope which was sweet! Storm hits a sick Alabama Slam. Storm connects with the Eye of the Storm but Godderz kicks out. Godderz hits an impressive springboard forerarm and Storm barely kicks out! This match is good. Godderz threw Bram out of the ring and Bram lands on the steps which was brutal. Storm capitalizes with the Last Call. That match was really good! After the match The Decay attacks the DCC. So are they faces now?

The Broken Hardy’s vs. Eli Drake and Tyrus for the TNA World Tag Team Championship
We get some normal Jeff Hardy here which is nice. I love Eli Drake, he’s probably my favorite thing going in TNA right now. I forget Tyrus is in TNA honestly. Slow match thus far. Eli pulls off a really cool move as he leaps up to the top rope and nails a nice superplex. Eli Drake isn’t the best wrestler but he’s a joy to watch. Tyrus doesn’t do much while he’s in there. The best thing he did was an exploder suplex. Jeff was in the ring for a long ass time before finally tagging in Matt who is on fire with headbutts before getting his momentum stopped. Eli Drake goes for a Twist of Fate but Matt shoves Drake into Tyrus. Drake hits a clothesline on Matt as Jeff nails Twist of Fate on Tyrus on the outside of the ring. Drake then takes Twist of Fate from both Hardy’s followed by a Swanton Bomb from Jeff for the win. Pretty alright match, but Tyrus didn’t perform very well.

Eddie Edwards vs. EC3 for the TNA World Championship
Lashley is out here to watch this one. I didn’t watch much TNA in the second half of last year so I didn’t see the first encounter these two had so I’m heavily interested in this one. EC3 and Eddie chop the shit out of each other to start. Nice running dropkick from Eddie. EC3 hits a big missile dropkick and then hits one off the apron to the floor on Eddie before saying “Dropkick city bitch!” Brutal suplex from EC3 to Eddie on the floor. Lashley approaches the ring as Eddie and EC3 fight on the apron. Eddie hits a back suplex on the apron which looked like it really hurt. Edwards hits a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Eddie’s chops are so vicious. They look vicious and Donovan Dijak told me that they suck to take. Flapjack from EC3. Edwards counters the One Percenter but EC3 ends up hitting the TK3 for a near fall! Good back and forth sequence as this match picks up. I’m enjoying this very much. Diving Codebreaker from Edwards and EC3 just barely kicks out. Edwards hits the backpack stunner for another near fall. Eddie takes out Lashley and unintentionally takes out the referee as well with a suicide dive. EC3 hit the One Percenter and would have won the match had the referee not been taken out. EC3 HITS THE TK3 OFF THE TOP ROPE! Beautiful move. Lashley gets involved now aaaaand I get hit with buffering. We’re back and the match is still going with Davey out here now as he accidentally hits EC3 with the chair when he was aiming for Lashley and Eddie hits the Boston Knee Party on EC3 for the win. Great match but the shenanigans prevented it from being as good as it could’ve been.
Rating: ***3/4
Overall I really enjoyed this show. The only stinker match was Shera/Rockett. It was a very enjoyable show. Match of the night was Bennett/Moose.
