Wayback Wednesday #1: 2012 G1 Climax Final
So there is no NJPW show this week so I thought let’s start a new segment called Wayback Wednesday where I review old Puro. With NJPW’s annual G1 Climax ever approaching I thought I would do a classic G1 Final. The fans voted and the winner was the 2012 G1 Climax final between “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada and “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson. Hope you enjoy!
Karl Anderson vs Kazuchika Okada
This match starts off with Okada not taking Anderson too seriously as he feels he is not on his level because Karl for most of his career in NJPW has been known primarily as a tag team worker up to this point with tag teams with Albert and of course Luke Gallows as a part of The Bullet Club. Okada continued to toy with Karl and looked to end it quickly with a Rainmaker but Anderson reversed and looked for his signature maneuver the Gun Stun which was also reversed. Okada cracks a smile as to show he recognizes that Anderson will not be as easy to overcome as he thought. Okada works over Karl until they reach the outside where Anderson starts working over Okada’s arm. Okada attempts to reclaim control by smashing Anderson’s head in the metal railing. This leaves Karl dazed and he barely makes the 20 count. From here on out it is a sprint with many high impact moves such as a Gun Stun off the top rope from Anderson and amazing exchange where both wrestlers try to hit their respective finishers until Okada finally overcomes the worthy adversary with a Tombstone/Rainmaker combo.
