This week I am going to start by addressing the entire Ric Flair situation. Ric went into hospital earlier this week and had bowel surgery. During this time he was put into a medically induced coma. He also is suffering from a few other negative things which haven’t directly been released. The facts are things are very bad and I’m praying for Flair and his family during this time. Someone made a very good point this week when they said ‘Wrestling without Flair is like a day without sun’.
Last Sunday the G1 came to a close with Omega defeating Naito in an unbelievable match which ended what was probably the greatest G1 of all time. On the Friday of that weekend Naito defeated Tanahashi in a great match which was more of a realistic type of fight where they both focussed on a specific injury and then worked on it the entire match. I scored the match 9/10. If any of you had previously not known about my match ratings they are out of 10 and there has only been a handful of matches which I have scored a perfect 10 ever. On the Saturday Omega faced Okada in their third match. For me it was the worst out of the three and Okada should not have been able to kick out of everything he did because looking at it from a realistic view he should have been completely knocked out but except for that I thought it was a perfect match so I have given it a 9.5/10. Naito vs Omega in the final was defiantly match of the tournament and also got 9.5/10 but I do stress that this match was better than Omega vs Okada 3 despite the same rating. Such a great tournament from NJPW and there is no doubting this is their best year ever.
The winner of the fatal 4 way at SummerSlam might have been revealed on Barclays Centre’s twitter this week after they have announced that Lesnar will be appearing on the Raw after SummerSlam.
Brie Bella has announced this week that she is certain that Daniel Bryan will return to wrestling whether it’s with WWE or not. Bryan has teased a Ring of Honour return several times recently and they would defiantly love to have him return. Brie also said she wants to return to wrestling next year.
Adam Cole has now signed with WWE after speculation of him coming to the company for almost a year now. He is expected to join the NXT brand and could show up at Takeover in the crowd but it is very unlikely he will actually have a surprise match on the show.
This week GFW announced that they have stripped Alberto El Patron of the GFW world title due to the entire airport situation in which he was found innocent last month. In the statement they mentioned that Alberto was not to blame but they were not happy with how he dealt with the situation. They also said he was still suspended. From that it sounds like it was the company GFW who had made the decision but Alberto on Instagram seemed to have a different view. He stated that he along with his company had made the decision and said he can’t wait to return to the company soon. There is a good chance GFW will actually not want Alberto to return because of the high chance of him getting into more trouble in the future.
GFW have their latest set of tapings later this month which will cover 12 weeks of programing which is the biggest set of tapings in GFW (TNA) history! Johnny Mundo (Formally known in WWE as John Morrison) and Taya will be at the tapings and there is a big chance he could be the next GFW world champion because they undoubtedly need a big name to lead the company as things are still as ever aren’t looking good.
Finally this week I want to talk about Baron Corbin cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on SDLive this week. There are two reasons why this may have happened. The first is that WWE might have been very unhappy with how irresponsible he has been acting on social media recently. The second and the one I personally believe and had previously reported is that Vince doesn’t feel Corbin is ready to become a world champion yet and they believe him not winning the title will actually turn him into an even more aggressive heel and they feel that this could be how he could become a huge star in the company in the future. There is no need for WWE to rush Corbin being pushed now and this defiantly increases the chances of him becoming a big star within the company. This also suggests that Corbin will beat Cena at Summerslam and do so very aggressively however as Cena will be moving to the Raw brand after Summerslam it is very unlikely it will end in a DQ because normally that would mean they would have another match.
Personally I feel the best way to book Corbin would be for him to beat Cena at Summerslam the go onto have rivalry with Dolph Ziggler (Who is rumoured to be getting repackaged) and defeating Ziggler. Then after the Ziggler feud he should feud with Nakamura again presuming he is champion up to the Rumble and come so close to winning the title but the failing controversially ever time which will make him even madder. He should then win the title between any time after Mania but before the end of 2018.
