WWE 205 LIVE REVIEW 01/31/2017
WWE brings 205 Live to you from the American Bank Center at Corpus Christi, Texas.
The show opens up with a video recap of Neville’s return and his win over Rich Swann at the Royal Rumble for the Cruiserweight Title.
The announce team announce that Rich Swann is unable to compete tonight and they hype Akira Tozawa’s debut tonight.
1) Tony Nese vs. Lince Dorado.
In a match where you need to be impressed with Nese every time he wrestles, Nese defeated Lince Dorado by pinfall with his Running Knee.
After the match, Nese kept attacking Dorado until TJ Perkins came out to make the save.
Opinion: Like I said, Nese is awesome and it’s awesome to see him actually get some wins and this feud with TJP must be awesome…Awesome.
Backstage, Tom Phillips interviews Rich Swann who is in crutches. Swann said he injured his ankle kicking the crown off Neville’s head, Neville showed up and asked Swann when was he going to learn his place. Swann said he would never keep him down and Neville shaved him down.
A Gran Metalik hype video is shown.
Opinion: Holy Motherfucking Shit Yes! Yes! Yes! This is awesome!
Brian Kendrick made his way to the ring to join the broadcast team.
2) Akira Tozawa vs. Aaron Solow.
In a match where I expected to see more from Tozawa, Tozawa defeated Solow in 3 minutes by pinfall with a German Suplex.
After the match, Austin Aries interviewed Tozawa and Tozawa spoke in Japanese.
Opinion: Great debut for Tozawa but I expected a longer match after the weeks of hype videos.
Backstage Noam Dar and Alicia Fox approach Neville with Dar trying to suck up to Neville but Neville was having none of it and said he didn’t care about his love life.
3) Neville & Noam Dar vs. Cedric Alexander & Jack Gallagher.
In a seriously strong main event, Alexander and Gallagher defeated Dar and Neville in 13 minutes when Alexander pinned Dar with the Lumbar Check.
Final Thoughts:
That’s 205 Live! Solid, solid show. We finally saw the debut of Akira Tozawa, we finally got some hype videos for Gran Metalik, and Tony Nese is just plain awesome but the main event pretty much sold the show as it was really good with pretty much the 4 most popular guys on the roster.
Final Rating: 8.1 out of 10.
