WWE 205 LIVE REVIEW 12/13/2016
Heading into this episode, we know have minor feuds in this cruiserweight division with Jack Gallagher feuding with Ariya Daivari, plus we have the triangle feud between TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick and Rich Swann. These two feuds make this week’s show a must see to see if these stories develop anymore. Will we see a new superstar debuting? Will TJ Perkins turn heel on Rich Swann? Probably not but let’s find out!
The show starts with a video recap of last week’s events between Brian Kendrick and Rich Swann and the Superkick TJ Perkins gave Rich Swann accidently.
1) Jack Gallagher vs. Drew Gulak.
In a match where both men actually looked really good considering the time given, Jack Gallagher defeated Drew Gulak by pinfall after his corner dropkick which looks f’ing brutal by the way.
Opinion: Gulak pretty much just sold Gallagher’s offense the whole match but when he got some offense in, he looked aggressive and inpatient which I think is a great fit for him. Also, Gallagher continues to carry the Cruiserweight division apart from Swann-Kendrick-Perkins.
Backstage TJ Perkins is telling Rich Swann that he isn’t his friend, he is the guy that eliminated him from the Cruiserweight Classic and tonight when he kicks Swann’s ass, it’ll be on purpose. He finished by saying the thing about luck is that it always runs out.
A Tajiri hype video is played and says he is “Coming Soon”.
Opinion: I’m really lost about Perkins’ character, I mean, is he turning heel or is he just a dick to Swann? Also, I’m super hyped for Tajiri and you should be too.
Backstage, Tom Phillips is talking to Gallagher about his recent win until Ariya Daivari shows up: Gallagher says he understand if he is mad after what he did to him on Raw and talked about what he did to his knee but he was willing to shake hands and call it even but Daivari refused and said they are not even but they will be.
Mustafa Ali and Lince Dorado make their entrances with pre-recorded promos airing over their entrances.
2) Mustafa Ali vs. Lince Dorado.
In a 4 minute high-flying match, Ali and Dorado ended in a draw when neither man could beat the ten count after a springboard moonsault from Dorado to Ali to the outside.
After the match, Dorado offered a handshake but Ali refused and sucker punched him but Dorado got the upper hand and got Ali out of the ring with a spinning heel kick.
Opinion: Good match, even if it only lasted 4 or 5 minutes. Ali doesn’t really have a character or motivation which makes it hard to get behind but Dorado looked really good on his debut.
Backstage, Noam Dar tells Alicia Fox that he is surprised she didn’t say nothing to him after he dedicated his match to her last week. Alicia said she has a boyfriend and Dar replied “Of course you do”.
TJ Perkins and Rich Swann make their entrances for the main event. Brian Kendrick joined the commentary team.
3) Rich Swann vs. TJ Perkins.
In a really enjoyable bout, TJP defeated Rich Swann by submission when TJP locked his kneebar on Swann.
After the match, Brian Kendrick headed to the ring to congratulate both men, helped Swann to get to his feet but Swann shoved his hand away and when he turned around, TJP hit Kendrick with a Superkick and then teased kicking Swann too.
205 Live goes off the air with Corey Graves hyping their triple threat match at Roadblock.
Final Thoughts:
Really solid episode, Jack Gallagher continues to be entertaining as hell, another wrestler debuted in Lince Dorado and apparently TJ Perkins isn’t a dick, he is just playing mind games. Really looking forward to the triple threat at Roadblock and when is Gran Metalik debuting for fuck sakes?
Final Rating: 8.9 out of 10.
