WWE: The Changes I Want To See
WWE: The Changes I Want To See

Change is a natural progression in life. It doesn’t mean something is good or bad. It doesn’t mean we have to be scared of it. It just means that, at the end of the day, change is an inevitability.
Change is rampant throughout Sports today. The Cavaliers brought home the first championship to Cleveland in over 60 years, the Cubs just won the World Series for the first time in 108 years, and some of the biggest names in sports have called it a career; David Ortiz, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Peyton Manning, etc.
The WWE is no exception, we have 2 indie darlings as champions of Raw and Smackdown, John Cena has been putting over people, and two women just main evented a pay per view for the first time ever. Change, to some, is a scary undertaking. In reality, change is a great thing. It allows for new and creativery opportunities. That’s basically the foundation of the WWE. In the 80s the changed and bought all the surrounding territories, becoming the first huge promotion. In the 90s, when WCW took over, they had to grow an attitude to stay relevant. And even in the 2000s they started the Ruthless Aggression era, generating new huge stars. Change will always haopen, as I said before it’s inevitable.
Lately, however it’s felt like the WWE is struggling to come to terms with this. You have Vince McMahon who still runs things in a very Vincent McMahon way. Kevin Dunn adds fire to the fuel, being a useless jack off who thinks Becky Lynch’s accent is annoying.
Hey, Kevin. Becky Lynch is wonderful. In every way. So go **** yourself, Kevin.
To be fair, I pointed out that the WWE HAS made drastic changes. I’m always one to give the benefit of the doubt to Vinny Mac and company (except you Kevin Dunn). Truly, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens at the top of the chain are things we probably thought we’d never see a year ago, much like a Women’s Main Event. So what are some other things WWE needs to do to help bring about this New Era?
1) Brock Lesnar
There’s only one reason to look forward to Brock Lesnar, and that’s Paul Heyman. Not even actual Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is boring in the ring, he performs only German Suplexes and then an F-5. It’s honestly embarrassing. Brock used to be great in the ring as not just a monster but a technical freak. Now he’s just this Brock Lesnar shell. He can’t even use a mic, there’s practically zero pluses to him anymore. he wastes time on our TV screens and provides insanely boring matches at PPVs. It’s time to move on.
2) Cesaro and Sami Zayn to Smackdown
RAW is crowded, very crowded. Cesaro is at least featured on it, but Zayn is an afterthought. If you move them both, however, to the significantly less crowded Smackdown; they can grow. Cesaro, right now is a solid Midcard guy. Put him on Smackdown and he moves up the ladder to lower main eventer. he could put on hugely memorable matches with AJ Styles. Sami Zayn is even worse off, put him on Smackdown and boom: he’s in the hunt for the IC Title again. There’s room to grow there, and those two desperately need to grow.
3) No More Wyatt Family
I love Bray Wyatt, but the Family has run its course. It’s been said over and over, but Bray has lost all his credibility with these losses. Why not let them fuel him? Let them drive him insane. Have him turn on his family. Have him betray them and ride solo, decimating everyone on the roster. Imagine if one day Bray just randomly started targeting everyone. No promos to explain why, just absolute distruction. Then one day Daniel Bryan is in the ring and Bray appears and demands a title match or he will cripple everyone. But instead of him failing, he actually does it. This Bray as champion could be scary, like Brock Lesnar, but with talent and mic ability.
4) Bayley v Sasha in the Main Event at Wrestlemania
OK, this is never going to happen. Bayley is too complex for the WWE right now. They don’t get why people love her. I can break it down for them right now and they still wouldn’t get it. Watch: Bayley is cute, and adorable, and by far the best female wrestler on the roster. See? They still don’t understand. Another reason this match wouldn’t happen is because the WWE clearly likes Charlotte more than anyone. Charlotte is great, she really is, but she just is not in the same league as Bayley or Sasha. Bayley and Sasha have an indefinable chemistry that can’t be matched. So let’s see Sasha v Bayley III at Wrestlemania, in the Main Event is just icing on the cake.
5) Longer Cruiserweight Matches
This is fairly simple, the matches are too short. RAW is 3 hours long, there is no need for this.
6) No More Wasted Time
It will be hard to get this to ever change but remove bad comedy acts, almost all back stage promos are useless, and we don’t need to see Steph and Foley so much.
7) Stop Scripting
We can basically just laugh at this, because it really won’t change. but scripting in WWE is just embarrassing at this point. Every good guy sounds the exact same, terrible one liners and pasty white bread personalities. Let them let loose, not too much, but enough to allow the superstars behind the character to come through and feel comfortable in their performances. Of course, no matter what, the story will be pre planned but let the wrestlers contribute to how they want to tell that story.
