WWE Money in the Bank 2019 Predictions

Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s Money in the Bank. It’s one of the most fun and unpredictable events of the year. It might be one of the most anticipated PPV’s outside of the big four PPVs. There has been countless of memorable moments in the short history of this event. It also is the event where one male superstar and one female superstar win the opportunity to have a championship shot at any point in the next calendar year if they win their respective Money in the Bank ladder match. This event really changes the playing field for the next year putting every champion on notice. There are six championship titles being defended as well on this event. Becky Lynch will be playing double duty defending both of her women’s titles against two different opponents. There are scores being settled whether it is in singles combat or inside of a steel cage. There are two eight participant Money in the Bank ladder matches that will most likely steal the show. Lets see if I can predict the outcomes of these matches.

Tony Nese has been the Cruiserweight Champion since Wrestlemania where he won in his home state. Ariya Daivari has been on the rise and finally getting his opportunity to capture the Cruiserweight Championship. I am really rooting for Daivari because I think it would be shocking and fresh but I do think Tony Nese retains. I haven’t really jumped on the Nese bandwagon yet but it does feel too soon to take the championship off of him. I’ll be happy if Ariya wins though.

Considering that the Usos are technically Raw stars, I’m not surprised that Smackdown tag team titles aren’t on the line. Although, because of this never-ending shake up and new wildcard rule the Usos have been able to be a thorn in the side of the new Smackdown Live tag team champions. Bryan and Rowen have vow’d to make tag team wrestling important again by starting a tag team revolution and the Usos are one of the most decorated tag teams in the WWE so it’s fitting to kick things off against them. I do think it’s too soon to be seeing Bryan and Rowen pick up losses, especially with their purpose. I can definitely see The Revival getting involved here, costing The Usos the match since that’s who they are feuding with on Raw. Yeah, confusing times.

Samoa Joe picked up a quick victory over Rey Mysterio at Wrestlemania. Rey Mysterio stole a win from Samoa Joe weeks later on Raw. The United States championship is the only belt Rey Mysterio has never won in the WWE out of the major singles championship belts. The United States title is also the first major singles championship that Samoa Joe has won since he’s been in the WWE. There is a part of me that believes this will end in a no contest or in DQ or something. I’m also curious if the Rey Mysterio’s son, Domnic, who has resurfaced in the last couple of months will play a role in the finish. Regardless, how things go down, I see Samoa Joe continuing his reign as the United States Champion and think that’s more important that Rey Mysterio having a reign.

Elias and Shane McMahon have been a pain in the ass for Roman Reigns for the last few weeks. Both men were drafted to Smackdown Live in the superstar shake-up and immediately became rivals. Shane McMahon started having his own issues with Roman Reigns due to Reigns superman punching Vince McMahon the night he showed up on the blue brand. As much as I think win here for Elias would be massive and a good decision if they’re looking to continue this feud past Money in the Bank, I don’t think they’ll him get his rub over Roman Reigns. Elias has a better chance getting over on Braun Strowman or either of the current World Champions before he does on Reigns. I hope I am wrong though. If I had to put money on it, Roman does what he does best and overcomes all odds to stand tall in the end.

Becky two-belts will be working double duty this Sunday as she will be defending both of her championship’s in one night. This is very reminiscent to when Seth Rollins was both of the United States and WWE Champion and had two title defences at Night of Champions back in 2015. Lacey Evans is getting the opportunity of a life-time after spending months just randomly walking out on stage and then beating Natalya in a match to become the number one contender. I can definitely see Becky Lynch retaining both championships. However, with all this confusion with wildcard rules, never ending shake ups and everything else that is making WWE hard to watch, I do think I’d be fine with her losing one of her belts and I don’t think it’ll be this one. I think it would make a huge impact for Lacey to win the belt here but it just feels a bit too early. I feel like they could stretch this feud another month or so. Of course, the real wild card here is if the women’s Money in the Bank winner cashes in but for now, Becky retains.

Now referring back to my prediction for the last match, I think Becky Lynch has to drop one of her titles. Unless the winner of the Money in the Bank cashes in, I definitely see Charlotte regaining the Smackdown Women’s Championship. I know this would upset a lot of people because once again Charlotte wins and they might even argue that it kills Becky Lynch’s momentum. However, I wouldn’t have Charlotte win without some shady circumstances. Maybe Lacey Evans costs Becky the match after losing to her? Maybe someone teases a cash in to distract Becky long enough to allow Charlotte to steal a win? Either way I see Charlotte winning here. The Smackdown women’s roster is stacked and I think Becky making Raw her full-time home makes a lot of sense now that they have a void without Ronda and Sasha there. Also, Alexa continues to be kept out of the ring. I know the wildcard rule kind of makes all of them seem pointless but I hope that rule disappears soon.

The feud between former friends and former tag team champions continues. This time they meet inside of a steel cage. This means they can’t be wrestling all over the arena to have their match end with some crazy memorable spot like it did at Wrestlemania. I would imagine they would still find a way to make sure we get a memorable spot in this match. I’m curious if we get Elias coming out to help Shane-O since they’ve become close buddies in recent weeks. This also makes me wonder if this eventually brings out Roman Reigns to even the odds. He is rumoured to face to Shane McMahon at Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia next month. However, they might just let this finish with just The Miz and Shane going toe-to-toe and continuing the other feuds after thus Sunday. I think it’s only right that the Miz walks out victorious to blow off this feud in the good name and honour of Mr. Miz.

Its Kofi Kingston’s first big title defence since his amazing 11 year run with the WWE paid off at Wrestlemania where he won the WWE Championship. I know he’s defended the belt on a few Raws and Smackdown’s but this is the first big PPV match for him as champion. He’ll be facing Mr.Entertainment himself, Kevin Owens. Owens filled a void for the New Day for a couple of weeks, taking Big E’s spot as Big O. Of course in traditional KO style, he turned on Kofi and Xavier and let his intentions be known. Kevin Owens wants to be the WWE Champion. It would not be shocking if WWE chose to take the belt off of Kofi so soon after his big moment and putting it on Owens for heat. I do believe the babyface chasing the championship is a lot more fun than the babyface champion continuously defending the championship successfully. However, I feel like in this specific case they need to ride the Kofi wave for at least another couple of months. They invested in putting him in this spot and they need to make the most out of this investment by making Kofi one of the top players on Smackdown Live because I fear that if he loses the title too early, he might fall back down the card. I really want to see KO as WWE Champion but I’m okay with waiting to keep building Kofi Kingston.

It’s a dream match that we’ve wanted since AJ Styles made his debut in 2016. These two have wrestled once in the independents a long time ago and you can find it on YouTube if you’d like to watch it. However, they haven’t crossed paths as opponents in the WWE yet. They have teamed a handful of times since and its always left us thinking who would win between the two of them. Also, we anticipate the magic they could make together, as they’re both super athletic and talented. These two are definitely in my top five favourites on the current roster. I do not want to get too excited with my hopes high because I don’t want to be let down. I remember getting really excited for the Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles feud but it never led to a match better than the one they had at Wrestle Kingdom. It also started off in the same position this feud is starting, with both guys as baby-faces. One of these guys will have to turn and I think it’s going to be AJ Styles who has been the top babyface on Smackdown since 2017. As f0r my prediction, I think Seth Rollins retains but this feud is long from over or we’re going to visit again very soon.

Its the fourth ever women’s Money in the Bank match and its gonna be fun. Its crazy to think just five years ago, this would never even be considered as a thing. Its crazy how much the women’s division has grown in the past five years. This match is stacked with potential winners. Both of the former Mrs Money In the Banks are in the match as well with the first ever winner who had to win it twice, Carmella and the Goddess who cashed in on the same night, Alexa Bliss. There is word that Bliss may not be able to participate due to not being cleared by the doctors. The only suitable replacement I can think of is Nikki Cross as she was just helping Bliss this past Monday on Raw. Bayley, Natalya and Naomi are all former multi-time women’s champions and all have strong chances of winning this match. Ember Moon and Mandy Rose are two women have never won the women’s title yet but really looking to shine and win this match to start building on their own legacies. Dana Brooke is the biggest wildcard here who is finally getting the opportunties she’s wanted for the past 3 years.
In the end thought, its really difficult to predict who actually is going to win. I’d love to see Mella do it again but I dont think that’s going to happen. Natalya, Naomi and Bayley are former champions and dont really need a briefcase to get another shot. I’m always not a fan of over established guys or girls winning the case. Alexa potentially being replaced rules her out. This really just leaves me with Mandy, Ember and Dana. Unfortunately, I just dont see Dana winning it because I dont think the fans are behind her enough yet for the WWE to want to pull that trigger. Ember Moon would be amazing and finally get her in a position where she can shine because I for one would sometimes forget she was even on the Raw roster most of the time. Mandy Rose is my ultimate favourite to win this. I feel like they’ve established her as a self-conceited heel, there has already been character development with her and it almost seemed like she was going to be the number one contender for Wrestlemania until they swerved us by making the triple threat main event for both titles. I’m going to have to go with Mandy Rose here. The only way I see her not winning it is if Sonya Deville costs her the match. It might be too early for that though.

Nothing but workhorses and talent in this Money in the Bank match. The last two MITB winners from the mens match have failed to cash in. Baron Corbin attempted to cashed-in on Jinder Mahal only to lose and Braun Strowman cashed-in on Roman Reigns in form of a match in which there wasn’t a finish because Brock Lesnar showed up. Braun then got screwed by Corbin in his rematch against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. Braun has been trying to get a Universal Title shot since then but continuously gets screwed out of it. He was originally in this match until this past week on Raw where McIntyre and Corbin helped Sami Zayn beat him for his spot. On that note, I feel like there is a high chance we see Braun make an appearance during this match to kick some asses. Corbin, McIntyre and Zayn are all in this match. I am totally game with Zayn or Mcintyre winning but really dont want to see Corbin win. The scary part is I feel like the WWE would have Corbin win for the sake that they seem to really think he has that good heel heat when its more like go away and get off my TV heat. ALTHOUGH, I might feel less like that if he actually threw on some wrestling gear and put the TGIF Fridays manager outfit back in his closet…in the very back to never be seen again. Its weird how much that bothers me. Sami Zayn winning would be fun but I dont know why I can’t envision him carrying around a briefcase for any time being. McIntyre is a favourite of mine to win but for some reason I feel like Braun is going to ruin that for him.
I know all of these guys will be involved in some sweet ladder spots, there are a couple of guys in this match that are going to give us amazing moments and spots. Those two dudes are Mustafa Ali and Ricochet. I believe that these two highflying and talented guys are gonna go above and beyond to make sure this MITB match will be unforgettable. Its also going to be a cool moment seeing Ricochet and Ali make some magic against each other. I would be down with either one of them winning as well as they’re both huge underdogs and would feel like unexpected victories. Finn Balor is in the match too but he is one of those guys I dont think needs the briefcase to earn title shots. Plus he’s the current Intercontinental Champion and that should be his primary focus. I wouldn’t be against Finn winning at all but he’s just not my choice. Orton is the legend and veteran in this match. As I mentioned in my prediction for the women’s MITB match, Im not huge on already established superstars winning the briefcase because you know they dont really need it to get opportunities. I look at MITB briefcase as a way for a superstar who doesn’t always get those opportunties a chance to have one whenever it seems fit. That being said, I think Andrade would be an amazing Mr. MITB. I know it might not be the most popular prediction and I could be wrong, but I’m going with Andrade. I’ll be really excited if he does win.
