WWE Super Show-Down 2018 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Saturday’s “Super Show-Down.” Similar to the “Greatest Royal Rumble” earlier this year, this is a huge overseas event taking place in a stadium so it will be aired on the WWE Network. However, this time instead of taking place in Saudi Arabia – where they will return to in November – this show will take place in Melbourne, Australia. The card is stacked and although this has big PPV feel, I am a tad bit worried about this becoming like a glorified house show similar to how the “Greatest Royal Rumble” felt like. The problem with that is that nothing really happens. There won’t be many title changes and most of the matches will be booking decisions will be geared towards sending the fans home happy rather than towards progressing storylines with decisions that really alter them or are big pinnacle moments in them. Once again, hopefully this isn’t anything like that. There are five titles being defended on this show. Raw brings us a couple of six person tag matches as well as the last time ever match between Undertaker and Triple H. Smackdown Live brings more personal rivalries to the card. Lets get to my predictions.
Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship
The New Day (C) vs. The Bar

It’s about damn time that The Bar gets back into the tag team title picture. I’ve stated in almost every prediction blog or review when The New Day is involved in the tag team title picture my feelings about them being tag team champions. I don’t hate it, but they definitely don’t need to be champions to stay relevant. The tag titles dont elevate them at all because they’re always finding unique ways creatively to elevate themselves. I would love to see The Bar as tag team champions because I feel like they can elevate the tag division on Smackdown and open the door to fresh new feuds that we haven’t got to see a lot of because The Bar were on Raw since 2016. The Bar has had all the momentum leading to this event which makes me feel that it would shocking to see them walk out the winners this Saturday. I feel like these two teams will wrestle again at the next event but as for Melbourne, The New Day find a way to retain the tag team titles.
Prediction – The New Day
Naomi & Asuka vs. The IIconics

The IIconics are coming home to Australia to wrestle on the big event in front of their hometown crowd. Asuka and Naomi have recently become BFFS and picking up win after win against the IIconics. The ideal thing here would be Asuka and Naomi to win but what is wrestling with drama. How would you make this continue with some drama? I would have the IIconics steal a win especially by cheating like good heels do. It being in their hometown might even get them a babyface reaction and be a moment for them. Of course I do see them insulting Melbourne in a pre-match promo.
Prediction – The IIconics
Cruiserweight Championship
Cedric Alexander (C) vs. Buddy Murphy

The cruiserweight championship and 205 Live gets a spotlight on this super card. If there was a good time to for Cedric Alexander to lose the championship, this would be it. Personally, as a fan of Cedric Alexander, his championship run hasn’t been that exciting. He’s still lacking that character development that makes you feel connected and more invested in him. Buddy Murphy has been putting on great matches since he’s been apart of 205 Live and has more of a character than Alexander. The fact that this show is taking place in Australia as well, makes it ideal for him to win the championship here.
Prediction – Buddy Murphy
John Cena & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Elias

John Cena makes a special appearance to team up with Bobby Lashley to face off against Kevin Owens and Elias. Its crazy to think we’re finally at a time where Cena is a part-timer and his appearances in the ring are scarce. It’ll be great hearing Owens trash-taking to Cena again during the match. Elias and Owens are two of the most over and entertaining heels the WWE has to offer. I’ve always considered Owens as Mr. Entertainment and Elias is just as entertaining as him. The two of them were booed loudly and for six minutes straight this past Monday after a joke about the Seattle Supersonics for cheap heat. I would love to see Owens and Elias go over but I think this one will definitely be one of those matches that sends the fans home happy with Cena and Lashley standing tall.
Prediction – John Cena and Bobby Lashley
Six-Woman Tag
Ronda Rousey & The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad
Image via WWE.com
Ronda Rousey and Bella Twins face off against the Riott Squad in a six woman tag match to showcase the Raw Women’s Division. Ronda Rousey and the Bella Twins are the attraction here for the casual fans so I see them going over. Plus, I’m not sure if we’re ready to see “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey take a L yet. It’s great to see that Liv is healthy and fine enough to be involved in this match considering we thought she might have got hurt by Brie’s “Yes Kicks” a couple of weeks ago. Regardless, I think its great for the Riott Squad to get this spotlight but Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins are walking out victorious.
Prediction – Ronda Rousey and The Bella Twins
Number One Contenders Match
Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Daniel Bryan and The Miz go toe-to-toe one more time in their personal rivalry but this time it is for the number one contender spot for the WWE Champion. Personally, I would love to see The Miz win and get put back into the WWE Championship picture as he’s been killing it the last 5 years. However, The Miz has been able to get the better of Daniel Bryan since Summerslam stealing victory after victory from him so if these guys are going to move on from this feud after this match for the time being, I don’t see it ending with Miz beating Bryan every single time. Now with that in mind, I have to predict that Daniel Bryan picks up the W and becomes the number one contender for the WWE Championship.
Prediction – Daniel Bryan
Smackdown Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (C) vs. Charlotte
Image via WWE.com
Its round two in one of the best feuds on Smackdown Live this year between two former best friends. Charlotte Flair gets her Women’s Championship rematch against Becky Lynch in Australia at the Super Show-Down. Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair last month at Hell in the Cell clean. Although, I’m sure they’ll have a rematch at Evolution meaning that Charlotte could potentially win here only to drop it back to Becky, I don’t see that happening. I feel like the focus here is to build Becky Lynch as strong champion who will do whatever it takes to be on the top of the Women’s Division. I predict that Becky retains whether its clean again, she cheats to win or this match ends in DQ.
Prediction – Becky Lycnh
Six-Man Tag
The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIyntre
Image via WWE.com
The rivalry between these six men has been chaotic and violent. All of the major male championships on Raw are involved in this match, hence why none of them are on the line on the show. Braun, Ziggler and McIntyre stood tall this past Monday on Raw after beating up all three Shield members. That only leaves me to believe that The Shield will stand tall in Australia. I know they have been teasing Ambrose turning on his comrades but I dont think we’ll see anything like that until after Super Show-Down. If they want to make the Aussie crowd happy, they’ll allow them to celebrate with The Shield in victory.
Prediction – The Shield
WWE Championship
AJ Styles (C) vs. Samoa Joe
Image via WWE.com
Business has picked up and gotten even more personal between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. This feud has gotten so personal between these two that the championship almost feels like an afterthought. Two weeks ago, Samoa Joe showed up at Styles home. This week Styles begged for WWE officials not to fire Joe but to let him hand Joe his punishment courtesy of an old-school ass-whooping. It was a little bit more intense than that though. My gut is telling me that this match will either end in a no contest or with Styles retaining. However, I really think this could be the second big title change on the show and we finally see Joe become the WWE Champion. It would have the Australian crowd shook and make this show unforgettable.
Prediction – Samoa Joe
The Undertaker w/ Kane vs. Triple H w/ Shawn Michaels
Image via WWE.com
In 2012 at Wrestlemania 28, the Undertaker defeated Triple H in what was dubbed as an “End of an Era” match as these two were never to cross paths again. Coincidently, Shawn Michaels was the special referee for that match. Following the match, all three guys walked up the ramp together and embraced for the fans as if it was saying farewell to an era. Of course, we’ve seen a lot of both Triple H and Undertaker since then but they never again crossed paths. When looking to make this Super Show-Down a bigger attraction, they announced that Triple H and Undertaker will be facing each other one last time. To elevate it even more, Shawn Michaels will be in the corner of Triple H and Kane will be in the corner of his brother The Undertaker. Its D-Generation X and the Brothers of Destruction, over 20 years after both of those unions became a thing. Initially, I thought The Undertaker was going to win this no question. The Phenom has only had two matches this year and he won both of them in quick fashion. However, with all the rumours of Shawn Michaels potentially making an in-ring return to either be featured in a tag match including the four guys involved in this match or one last singles match with The Undertaker, I feel like The Undertaker will lose, only due to Shawn Michaels getting involved. It’s not Wrestlemania and there isn’t no streak so there is no reason why anyone should get upset with The Game picking up the victory to further develop this potential feud.
Prediction – Triple H
