WWE Survivor Series 2017 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s Survivor Series. Its one of the WWE big four PPV’s that has been an annual tradition since its inception in 1987. It’s also the night that has become the battleground for the brand supremacy war between Raw and Smackdown. This year every match on the main show is a Raw vs Smackdown battle besides the Cruiserweight Championship match. There are three champion vs champion matches, a six man tag and two traditional Survivor Series matches. There were many last minute changes to the matches in the last two weeks leading to this event such as championship changes and who would be representing the Raw and Smackdown teams. I’ll talk about those changes as I give my predictions. Overall, this even has all the potential to be memorable.
Kick-Off Show Match
Cruiserweight Championship
Enzo Amore (C) vs. Kalisto

Well this Enzo Amore and Kalisto feud is still going on. Enzo will try his best to make anything he’s apart of entertaining. Hell I still credit him for getting more eyes on 205 Live again these past few months. The thing is I dont think the WWE realizes that not as many people as they would like to believe, really care about Kalisto. It not because there is anything wrong with Kalisto but they havent creatively written his character to feel important. He just looks cool, can sell masks and randomly wins championships. Kalisto is a former United States and Cruiserweight Champion but it just doesn’t feel right for him to win the championship again here. Enzo Amore, whether people like him or hate him has people talking about him and the majority of the fanbase have an opinion on him. Build someone up for the fans to get behind to get the championship off Enzo. They just had Kalisto win and lose the title to Enzo and theres no reason to go down that route again. This is a great opportunity to build a new star and have a champion everyone talks about while doing so. The strap stays on Amore.
Prediction – Enzo Amore
Raw vs. Smackdown
The Bar vs. The Usos
Image via WWE.com
This was originally Ambrose and Rollins vs the Usos until they lost the tag team titles to the Bar a couple of weeks back on Raw, This match is going to be a banger. I’m a big fan of both teams so for me to choose who I wanted to walk out victorious in this match was difficult. Both teams have had a tremendous 2017 with putting on classic tag matches all throughout the year. The Shield/Bar and the Usos/New Day rivalries alone gave us some of the best matches of 2017. I expect them to put on a classic for us here with us sitting on the edge of our seats because its too close to call. Both teams are technically heels so I wouldn’t be surprised to see either one of them trying to sneak a victory by bending the rules or cheating. I would be happy with this match either way but with consideration of my other picks, I’m going to say The Usos pick up the victory here. I don’t how but I feel like they just do.
Prediction – The Usos
Raw vs. Smackdown
The Miz vs. Baron Corbin
Image via WWE.com
This match has been so poorly focused on creatively. The most attention this match got was when Corbin and Miz went into business for themselves, taking shots at each other on social media. Other than that, Miz has spent weeks running from Braun Strowman and Corbin has been feuding with Sin Cara. There is a chance that the numbers game with the Miztourage get the best of Corbin allowing Miz to steal the win. Honestly to me that would be the ideal scenario because Im a big fan of The Miz character. However, Corbin has more to gain from winning here. Win or lose the Miz will find a way to stay relevant and important on Raw. A loss doesn’t hurt the The Miz but it does for Corbin who has had a very hot and cold 2017 where he just can never fully catch a break.
Prediction – Baron Corbin
Raw vs. Smackdown
Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte Flair
Image via WWE.com
The Queen and The Goddess meet for the first time ever. Two of the most dominant women in the WWE in the last couple of years are going head to head to defend their respective brand. They are also the only two women to have held both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championship titles. Both of these blonde bombshells have a history of doing whatever it takes to too win, prove that they are the best female wrestler in the WWE and to do whatever it takes to be called champion. In many ways this is a dream match for some fans and a match that could have been made into a bigger deal if there was a proper build up but we’re getting it early here similar to how we got Styles/Balor last month. Alexa is being prepared to feud with Asuka after this event and has more of a reason to look strong moving forward. Charlotte had just won the women’s championship from Natalya whom she beat on Smackdown Live taking her place in this match which means Natalya is entitled to rematch. I can totally see Natalya being the cause of Charlotte losing here to Alexa Bliss. This will give Alexa that momentum before being challenged by the dominant Asuka and creates more tension between Charlotte and Natalya before their rematch.
Prediction – Alexa Bliss
Raw vs. Smackdown
The Shield vs. The New Day
Image via WWE.com
It’s two of the most dominant trios of the WWE in the past 5 years going toe to toe to defend their respective brand. Both teams are extremely over with the fans and also been involved in some of the best PPV matches of 2017. Both teams have reached a ton of success which includes a handful of championship runs, including all three Shield members being former WWE Champions. The difference between the two teams is one of them has broken up while the other one has stayed together as a cohesive group the entire time. Thus showing there are more ego than brotherhood in The Shield compared to the unbreakable brotherhood of the New Day. Although, this is the Shield’s first big PPV match since their reunion because Reigns had to miss out on TLC to illness. Therefore, I find it hard to believe any of that drama I just stirred up above will mean anything because Raw must have bigger plans for the Shield in the upcoming months and they aren’t breaking up anytime soon. I do think this match would have been the perfect catalyst for it to happen though. I do think The Shield doesn’t lose anything by losing here and will be able to pick up the pieces of a loss here and turn it positive. I think this will be a competitive and fun match but The Shield walk out victorious.
Prediction – The Shield
Raw vs. Smackdown
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match
Becky Lynch (C), Tamina, Naomi, Carmella & TBA vs. Alicia Fox (C), Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax & Asuka
Image via WWE.com
This is a traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 elimination tag match for brand supremacy. It’s the Raw team led by Alicia Fox against the Smackdown team led by Becky Lynch. This is one of two of the 5-on-5 Raw vs. Smackdown matches, with the other being the mens match. Charlotte beating Natalya for the Women’s Championship on Smackdown Live has left an open spot on the blue brands women’s team. This had led to a lot of speculation of who the fifth member could be. The obvious prediction is that Natalya would take that spot since she lost the championship to Charlotte who took her spot. This may very much be thecae and not a bad substitution at all. Other rumours are that it could be Lana who has dabbed in wrestling a bit this past year and currently managing Tamina. Lana is a part of the blue brand and definitely could take that spot. The final and most intriguing rumour is that Paige makes the jump to the blue brand and returns at Survivor Series as a part of the Smackdown Live Women’s team. That would be huge. In the end though I see Team Raw walking out victorious here with the final two most likely being Asuka and Paige. The Smackdown girls can go on for weeks fighting about who caused them to lose while the Raw girls who aren’t a part of the title picture can celebrate their victory because they might not have much else to do.
Prediction – Team RAW
Raw vs. Smackdown
Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman vs. AJ Styles
Image via WWE.com
This was supposed to be “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal going toe-to-toe with “The Beast” Brock Lesnar until “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles beat Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship in Manchester. This now gave AJ Styles the responsibility of being the defending World Champion of Smackdown Live having to face off with Raw’s World Champion Brock Lesnar. It was a weird turn of events since WWE really put time and effort into the promos leading to a Jinder Mahal and Brock Lesnar match. They even had video packages made and the Singh Brothers imitating Paul Heyman at live shows to garner heat. Then during the European tour something happened when the WWE decided to go in an entirely different direction in AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar. I will agree that this might be the more crowd pleasing match and seemed even easier for Heyman to sell compared to the original match but I felt like Jinder having this match with Lesnar was a big deal for him and its unfortunate that its not taking place. On the other hand, I couldnt be happier than AJ Styles in the champion over the likes of anyone else on the Smackdown roster because he’s arguably the best in ring performer in the WWE today. This match is going to be different but fun. In recent history we’ve seen Lesnar take on giants, big men and monsters but its been a while since we’ve seen Lesnar face someone like AJ Styles. I think this is going to be one of those matches where they make us feel like Styles might actually be able to beat Lesnar only to be caught off guard and lose. I also would’t be surprised if Jinder Mahal or the Singh Brothers were the reason Styles does lose here causing some sort of interruption out anger and jealousy. Im sure we’re moving forward to Styles vs Mahal at Clash of Champions and Lesnar remains undefeated.
Prediction – Brock Lesnar
Raw vs. Smackdown
Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match
Shane McMahon (C), Bobby Roode, Randy Orton, John Cena & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kurt Angle (C), Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman & Triple H
Image via WWE.com
This is a traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 elimination tag match for brand supremacy. It’s the Raw team led by Kurt Angle against the Smackdown team led by Shane McMahon. This is one of two of the 5-on-5 Raw vs. Smackdown matches, with the other being the women’s match. This one is going to be entertaining as hell with so many layers. For one this is the first time we’re seeing Shane McMahon and Triple H interact on television since Shane-O returned last year. They have had zero segments together or any interactions which I find weird for two guys who are brother-in-laws in real-life and share history with each other than spans back 18 years on television. We’ll also get to see Triple H work a handful of his NXT kids by teaming with Joe and Balor and facing off against Nakamura and Roode. Also we get to see Angle and Triple H both tango with two of the past eras legends in John Cena and Randy Orton. Angle and Triple H both have storied histories with Cena and Orton. It’ll also be cool to see Angle working with newer talent like Nakamura and locking up with his old TNA co-worker Bobby Roode. Also, on that note Angle is teaming with his old TNA co-worker Samoa Joe. Throw in the elements of Shane being a dare-devil and Braun being a monster, this match similar to many of the main events of shows this year has the potential to be a total chaotic demolition derby but fun as hell to watch. 5 of the guys in this match have already had Hall of Fame worthy WWE careers in Triple H, Angle, Orton, Cena and Shane-O but the other five of these guys are hungry to build their legacy in this company. Considering the Smackdown team is basically all babyfaces and the Raw team is a mesh of good guys and bad guys, I can see the Raw team falling apart causing them to lose. Plant seeds to a Triple H and Kurt Angle match down the road as well as many other scenarios. I do predict that Owens and Zayn may interfere to cause an elimination for Smackdown putting them in a tough situation which they will ultimately overcome. I can’t guess who the survivors or sole survivor is going to be but I feel the night is going to end up being blue due to tension within the Raw team.
Prediction – Team Smackdown
What do you think about my predictions for the Survivor Series? What are your predictions? Do you agree or disagree with my thoughts and ideas of what might happen on the show? Leave your comments and opinions below.
I want to see Raw defeat SmackDown on men’s Elimination match and Finn Balor and Samoa Joe the survivors then after the match I want to see a in ring brawl between these two leading the whole locker room involve in it
I agree with most of your predictions except the last one. Because if team raw loses, Kurt Angle loses his job as GM. This isn’t going to happen that soon. Moreover, I can see tension building up between Roode and Orton or Roode and Cena or probably Orton and Cena. This could lead to a heel turn for Roode which I think has been planned for him. So yeah, I predict Team Raw to be victorious at Sunday night.
