9 Wrestlers Who Are Most Likely To Turn Heel In 2017
9 Wrestlers Who Are Most Likely To Turn Heel in 2017
9. Dolph Ziggler
For about 3 and a half years, Dolph’s career has had its ups and downs. He won the World Heavyweight Title but lost it in his first title defense back in 2013 and hasn’t been able to get back into the main event picture since then. Granted, he did main event Survivor Series in 2014, and competed as and with main event talent, but does that really count if his push got stopped for no reason? He has won a few intercontinental titles but was never seen as a “big guy” backstage, or at least that’s what we hear. Recently, winning the IC title was great for his career, he got the universe behind him and gained so much momentum, but then lost it before we could enjoy another Ziggler title reign. Whether or not he wins the title back, the only way to make and KEEP him relevant would be for him to turn him heel. He first debuted as a heel and was paired with Vickie Guerrero and that really kick started his career, but not for much. We all really want Ziggler to win the world title back again someday and i know that a lot of fans have not lost hope in that happening.
8. Naomi
Naomi currently, Naomi has one of the best and most recognizable gimmicks on the WWE roster. Her glow in the dark theme and excellent wrestling ability catch the eyes of the viewers each and every week however, Tamina still has yet to return from injury. This gives Naomi two options, if Tamina were to return to the Smackdown Live brand. Option one would be to start a rivalry with Tamina, and option two would be to have Naomi turn heel again and have her team up with Tamina. Tamina is a superstar that was made to be a heel so WWE wouldn’t turn her in a million years. If Naomi and Tamina would form a tag team, they would be a heel team and most likely start from where they left off before Tamina was injured, which was slowly becoming the top heels in the women’s division. The face gimmick works better for Naomi but if she does become a heel with Tamina, we will just have to sit back and wait to see where that will take her career.
7. Kane
Kane has always been one of those superstars who turns heel and face constantly. He is kind of involved in a storyline with the Wyatt family at the moment but that is mostly consisted of facing Luke Harper on the kickoff shows of PPVs. The best thing for Kane right now is to be involved in a storyline because with this “new era” of superstars coming from NXT and the indies, it’s only a matter of time before the fans forget about him. He can still be that monstrous devil if booked right. He currently serves as a face to the SmackDown Live roster but he can turn heel at any given moment. Maybe he could align himself with the Wyatt Family like Randy Orton did or maybe he can be a solo wrestler who just bulldozes through the division. There’s always a possibility of Kane winning a secondary title like the IC title or the tag titles again. Nobody knows what the creative direction is for Kane and that’s how it’s always been, that’s why his character is so intriguing. I can’t speak for everyone but I would be pretty excited if Kane went back to his roots and started basically murdering everyone in the division again.
6. Paige
Recently, Paige has played the part of a heel and a face in the past year. She arguably plays the heel role better, as we’ve seen from her rivalries with AJ Lee and Charlotte. When she left due to injury, she was a face, aligning herself with Team Total Divas to be a part of a 10 woman tag match at Wrestlemania. Since then, she has made a few TV appearances but was suspended twice while rehabbing from her surgery back in October. She will return in 2017 as a part of the Raw brand and she could be doing that under heel persona. The chances of that, however, are very unlikely. So far the heels on Raw are Charlotte, Dana, Nia, Summer, and most likely Emma and the faces are Alicia (kind of), Bayley, and Sasha. And if Lana starts to wrestle again she would wrestle as a heel. If all of that happens the heels would outnumber the faces 6-3 not including Paige. So the chances of Paige turning heel are slim to none but as long as there is a face champion, there’s always slots open for heels.
5. Dean Ambrose
Dean Ambrose is currently at the peak of his career. Currently involved in the WWE title picture with AJ Styles and James Ellsworth, he continues to entertain the fans on a weekly basis. However, many fans are questioning whether he does better as a face or a heel. There’s no question that his character when he was in the shield was spot on amazing. That angered crazy gimmick led to him being the longest reigning US champion of all time. Many members of the WWE Universe prefer Dean when he does his shield gimmick over his current one. Although now wouldn’t be the best time for him to turn heel, maybe this time next year will be a good time. He could do a whole lot of things as a heel, he could feud with John Cena if he wins the IC title next year, and he could really bring back that attitude that WWE doesn’t have right now. There is no doubt that if Dean does turn heel soon, he will make a quick climb to the top of WWE’s mountain once again.
4. Nikki Bella
Ever since returning from injury at Summerslam, Nikki has been on fire. She won her no DQ match against Carmella at TLC and will continue a feud with Natalya leading into the New Year. But, before Nikki left, she was the top heel in the then divas division along with her sister Brie and long time friend Alicia Fox. she played her heel gimmick perfectly. She made a fool out of Paige numerous times, spraying fake tan on her and defeating her with twin magic on Raw and MITB. Her heel run in 2014-2015 led to her becoming the longest reigning divas champion of all time. She became the most popular and influential WWE females in a long time. With only 7 women on the SmackdownLive women’s roster Nikki probably won’t turn heel unless they do another double turn and turns Nikki heel and Natalya face. However, there could be some call ups from the NXT roster including, Asuka and Liv Morgan who already started working Live Events. Nikki is currently killing it as a babyface but you can never say never in the WWE.
3. Seth Rollins
There’s a lot you can say about Seth Rollins. He is one of the best workers in the business and his amazing wrestling abilities don’t even come close to some of the other talents abilities on Raw. Almost everyone is enjoying his face run at the moment however, Seth as a face screams money for WWE. Looking back at 2015 PPVs, the year wasn’t so bad. The weekly booking for Raw and Smackdown might have been bad, but Seth’s storytelling as a heel is top-notch. We can only wait until Seth becomes a heel again but for now we will just wait until he wins his first championship on the main roster as a face… hopefully.
2. Roman Reigns
The WWE Universe have been waiting for the day that Roman turns heel for years. We were almost certain that Roman would have been a heel when he returned from his 30 day suspension at Battleground, but it never happened. Winning the US title was definitely great for his career and helped him gain a lot of the fans affection, but he’s not fully there, and probably never will be unless there is a shield reunion in the near future. He copped a new attitude when he returned from a kayfabe injury before Wrestlemania that took him from a clean babyface to a ruthless babyface. Him turning heel will definitely be best for business and maybe the fans won’t hate him as much if he wins another World title as a heel.
1. Sasha Banks
Let’s travel back to 2015 when Sasha showed her attitude and ruthlessness in the early days of her career which helped her win the NXT women’s champion in February 2015. She debuted on the main roster as the third member of Team B.A.D with Naomi and Tamina. She rocked the waves of the Women’s division and immediately got the fans to get behind her. She was taken off TV after TLC 2015 and returned from a minor injury at the Royal Rumble. Her return was as a face which made the fans happy because she was finally getting an opportunity at the Divas Championship. All was well and good until she started to become this sentimental babyface who cared about the fans. All of her promos were super cheesy, and they always included her childhood dream and Eddie Guerrero. By the time SummerSlam hit, the fans started to realize that her character was worn out and some fans started to turn against her. With a lot of fans still behind her, but some of them gone, Sasha became a 3x women’s champion defeating Charlotte on 3 separate occasions. A heel turn while women’s champion would be amazing to see, but we might need a face women’s champ after seeing a heel champion in Charlotte for a total of around 400 days.
