WWE TLC 2017 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for tonights TLC. I know its very last minute but better late than never right? Also, the card did have few big changes itself since superstars such as Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns among others have fallen to ill to meningitis. Therefore, its quite fitting that the week I write my prediction super late it worked in my benefit because of last minute card changes. Raw will be hosting TLC this year as last year they hosted Hell in a Cell. This year Smackdown hosted Hell in a Cell and Raw took the ladders. Lets move on to my predictions.
Kick-Off Show Match
Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox
Image via WWE.com
Word is originally Sasha Banks was supposed to go back to working with Nia Jax but Nia Jax took a leave of absence for personal reasons which ignited this random rivalry with Alica Fox. Everything with Banks this year has felt so weird. The feud with Nia early in the year and feuding with Fox and Dar while teaming with Swann. The never turning on Bayley when everyone wants her too and the short but exciting feud with Alexa that saw the title switch hands but never truly having a payoff or feeling complete. I also think it would have been awesome to see her be Asuka’s first contender because it would have had that big match feel rather than the expected squash match we’re getting with her facing Emma. I’m sure they will cross paths soon. I don’t see Sasha losing this but if she does they better have big plans for Alicia which I feel like they don’t. The Boss takes this wins and confront Asuka before she moves on to Bliss. I’m glad Bayley is no where around this.
Prediction – Sasha Banks
Rich Swann & Cedric Alexander vs. Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher
Image via WWE.com
This is a cruiserweight kick off match is two babyfaces taking on two heels. It’s a pretty straight forward concept but its missing that thing that makes you super interested in the match. All four guys are super talented so I suppose the match will be great and entertaining. I dig this new heel Jack Gallagher who wrestles in a suit. Rich Swann is full of charisma but I have to agree with Enzo Amore. Cedric Alexander is a super talented dude and I love his ability to do things in that ring that others can’t, but he’s the most forgettable guy in this match. I think this rivalry needs to be to Cedric Alexanders coming out party as a star and it starts here. These guys need to tear down the house to continue that push to get people to tune into 205 Live.
Prediction – Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander
Asuka vs. Emma
Image via WWE.com
This is Asuka’s main roster and main roster PPV debut. Emma is playing the Dolph Ziggler role in getting the opportunity to be the first rival to a NXT call up. I mean does anyone really think Emma is going to beat Asuka on her debut night. Raw has been pretty brutal when it comes to booking their women. Aside from Charlotte and currently Alexa Bliss, they’ve basically botched the booking in my opinion for everyone else including Bayley, Banks and Nia Jax. I doubt they’ll drop the ball with Asuka. I just realized in a conversation I was having with someone that we’re not aware if the Empress is a heel or babyface coming to the main roster. I automatically assume with the hardcore marks that she’s a babyface but the transition from NXT to the main roster is always an interesting one. I dont think anyone sees Emma going over here but I hope we get a competitive match where Emma at least looks like she could. I dont think we’ve been able to see Emma shine on the main roster to her full potential and this could be it.
Prediction – Asuka
Cruiserweight Championship
Kalisto (C) vs. Enzo Amore
Image via WWE.com
Enzo Amore is the hottest thing to happen to the cruiserweight division since Neville returned and became the King of the Cruiserweights. He injected a new life into the show and made 205 Live a bit more entertaining to watch. He was the hottest topic of discussion whether it was people praising him or talking shit about him. At the end of the day Enzo Amore had people talking. The WWE had something good going on with Enzo Amore as the champion and Neville as his foe. Instead, Kalisto won the belt because you know…lucha things. I dont dislike Kalisto but I’m not alone when I say he’s the most forgettable United States champion of the past 5 years. There was no reason for him to win the championship in my mind unless it was just for exciting television and shock factor. I say the strap goes back on the franchise player of 205 Live in Enzo Amore. Ya know, because he’s got the sauce whether you like it or not.
Prediction – Enzo Amore
Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (C) vs. Mickie James
Image via WWE.com
I’m a fan of this feud. It was sort of random and definitely different. These two have a history dating back to Alexa being involved in bringing Mickie James to the WWE back to help her defeat Becky Lynch to remain Smackdown Women’s Champion. They’ve had their ups and downs but never a full on rivalry. I dig the entire old-timer from the past against this present young trailblazer angle but I dont think it’ll pay off the way fans expect it too. The fairytale ending would be Mickie James winning and becoming a 7-time women’s champion but I just dont see that happening. The championship has changed hands this year 4-5 times this year and I dont want to see it happen again for a happy-go-lucky moment. Let the Alexa keep stealing wins similar to how Jinder Mahal is on Smackdown to the point where when she actually loses, it means something. I say Alexa goes over so she can gloat and either continue this rivalry with Mickie or be forced to go face to face with Asuka.
Prediction – Alexa Bliss
Finn Balor vs. AJ Styles
Image via WWE.com
This was supposed to be Demon Balor vs Sister Abigail but Bray being one of those who is suffering from viral meningitis lead to a last minute audible. AJ Styles is stepping in to take on the Demon in what many would consider a dream match between two prominent Bullet Club members who never crossed paths before. I’m shocked we’re getting this match with a lack of anticipation and build up but Im truly looking forward to it. It might even be a match where the seeds are planted for a Raw vs Smackdown match at Survivor Series. I was looking forward to how this Sister Abigail scenario was going to play out with this orange and black Demon. The battle of altere-egos was going to be the most interesting thing about this very non interesting rivalry between Bray and Finn so I guess they knew they had to pull out something the fans could still look forward too. I heard that this match was also going to get quite a bit of time as well. I’m shocked they didn’t just take someone from the main event to fill this spot since 5 against 3 when its not against the actual Shield seems kind of ludicrous. This is a Raw PPV and I dont think Styles loses anything here with a loss since he’s currently not really doing anything on Smackdown besides just planting seeds for a feud with Jinder Mahal post Survivor Series. Finn Balor losing as the Demon here would be a loss. Balor goes over in a really good match.
Prediction – Finn Balor
5-on-3 TLC Match
Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Braun Strowman & Kane
Image via WWE.com
What was to be the Shield reunion at the PPV they first had a match as team is now the return of Kurt Angle. There is a lack of story or build up here for such a big historic moment but blame it on viral meningitis which took Roman Reigns out. Its crazy to think many say this Shield reunion happened to get the fans to cheer Reigns but the universe isn’t a Roman Reigns fan either LOL. I dig Reigns but I just found the coincidence hysterical. Considering Angle is the GM who allowed Miz to get his team to five people, it’s also quite funny that he has to face them all alongside Seth and Dean. I mean I’m sure they’ll build a story and we’ll get all the explanations throughout tonights show. As far as we know they could add people to their team tonight because Kurt is the GM for fuck sakes. I think it also would have been cool to have Kane face Demon Balor and have Styles join Dean and Seth to have it be 3 against 4. At least that way you save a dream match and epic return for another night, but they needed to give the people who paid for tickets a show to look forward too. It’ll be great to see Angle in there against the likes of Cesaro, Sheamus, Strowman and Miz. It’ll also be cool to see angle tear it up with Kane again. Heck, they worked a Wrestlemania together. This will be great and entertaining but just feels like a giant mess storyline-wise but its not the WWE’s or anyones fault. They did what they had to do to keep us excited for the event and it worked. I dont see the heels going over but it suck to see a team with such amazing talent be taken down by any three men. It is what it is though. Angle, Rollins and Ambrose overcome the odds.
Prediction – Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose
