Episode 5 & 6 [/header]
Hello everyone, my name is Claritza. I recently started watching the CWC tournament from the beginning again, so I asked Justin if I could review the event for the website before the live “Final Four” event where the winner will be crowned. I thought it would be cool to watch and review the tournament since I’ll be attending the live show for final matches of the tournament. I hope this allows anyone who hasn’t watched any of the tournament a reason to watch it before the final show.
A little background on myself: Yes, I am a girl and no I didn’t just pick up on wrestling because of Total Divas or because of shirtless hot guys, the hot shirtless guys are just a major plus. My parents are avid WWE fans, so I’ve been watching wrestling my whole life Any-who, for me this is the very first time I am watching a lot of these wrestlers in action so this is my very first impression on every single one of these competitors, which I feel a lot of other people can relate to.
Episode 5
Gran Metalik – Lucha Libre Style
vs
Tajiri – Strong Style
Watching this match you’d think they’ve wrestled each other hundreds of times. These two men have such great chemistry with each other. It was counter after counter and them trying to one up each other. So many great moves were in this match and it’s just a match you have to watch if you like back and forth action. You just have to appreciate this match for both men’s performances. Gran Metalik did pick up the win with the Metalik screwdriver.
Match rating: 5/5
Kota Ibushi – Strong Style
vs
Cedric Alexander – High Flying Style
There are literally no words to describe how phenomenal this match was. Nothing I can say or explain can justify how amazing these two men wrestled. They both delivered and gave it their all. This two put on the perfect portrayal of what this tournament was all about. Ibushi makes everything look easy and is a machine in that ring. Cedric…I wouldn’t be surprised if we learned he actually has the ability or some superpower that allows him to fly, because he so graceful when he hits the air. The response they got following the match, mainly for Cedric, was well deserved. I just suggest you go watch it if you haven’t already.
Match rating: 6/5 basically
Episode 6
Akira Tozawa – Technical Style
vs
Jack Gallagher – Technical Style
This match was highly entertaining. They play off each other so well. Gallagher is so amazing by doing the simplest things, but yet he makes it so entertaining. The main body parts Gallagher focused on during this match were the legs of Tozawa. They went back and forth during the match. Tozawa has a beautiful snap German suplex. Though Jack worked on Akira for a better part of the match Akira picked up the win with a German suplex.
Match rating: 4.5/5
Noam Dar – Technical Style
vs
Hoho Lun – High Flying Style
Most of this match Noam focused on Hoho legs. Noam went from kicks to submissions, but still attacking the leg of Lun. Hoho did a little bit of damage to Noam, but he was feeling the effects from his leg. Noam kept at it with the attack on Lun’s leg and eventually cinched in the knee bar to earn him the victory.
Match rating: 3.8/5
Brian Kendrick – High Flying Style
vs
Tony Nese – Technical Style
Right off the bat Nese brought it to Kendrick with his technical style and strength. Nese kept Brian grounded for the beginning of the match, until the veteran prowess of Kendrick kicked in. What’s nice about Nese is he can hit like a heavyweight, but move like a featherweight. Brian did many moves in the match that you just develop over time in you lengthy career. They went back and forth for a while as Nese showcased his power and athleticism. It took one wrong move by Nese, for Kendrick to put on the bully choke and he picked up the win.
Match rating: 4/5
Thats my quick review of these two episodes of the CWC tournament. Expect reviews for the rest of the tournament before next weeks final show. Leave your opinions on these matches below and let me know which match was your favourite.
