NJPW Best of Super Juniors Day 11 Review
We are back to the long shows but since the site was down for maintenance the other day and I didn’t want to delay this any longer I skipped what didn’t interest me (The first two matches) so I hope that isn’t a problem with you guys.
David Finlay and War Machine vs Yujiro Takahashi and G.o.D (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa)
I don’t know what the hell it is but War Machine is on fire in Japan. They never disappoint me in their matches and David Finlay really benefits from working from them. G.o.D’s flaws are hidden well in these 6-man matches so it makes for a fun time. Rowe gets the win for his team, keeping War Machine’s momentum going into the title match.
Match Rating: ***
CHAOS (Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, and Gedo) vs Bullet Club (Marty Scurll, Kenny Omega, Bad Luck Fale)
This was another good little tag match and helps build towards perhaps the biggest rematch in a while in Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada. Their little interaction in this match really got me excited as it gave just enough to get you hype but not too much to spoil the match. All around a dope ass match that I think is worth checking out just of it is to hype you for Omega/Okada II. Scurll takes the win for BC here.
Match Rating: ***3/4
Tiger Mask IV vs El Desperado
This match was a really good storytelling one. It tells the story of the veteran that is trying to show he can hang and a dirty Desperado just keeps taking him out and attacking his legs. Tiger Mask keeps fighting back until he is able to get a victory. Tiger Mask even shows a sign of weakness at the end when he attempts to unmask Desperado until he realizes that he is a face.
Match Rating: ***3/4
Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs BUSHI
This match was just a huge brawl. BUSHI and Kanemaru go out it outside the ring, including a beautiful cross body from the entrance way. It was very enjoyable and very different from the other matches in the tournament. BUSHI takes the win here which completes his comeback as he is now tied for first place with a huge list of others.
Match Rating: ***3/4
Volador Jr. vs ACH
When the matches were announced THIS was the match I was excited to see the most. Not Ospreay/Ricochet, not Takahashi/Dragon Lee, Takahashi/Liger, this was the one and it more than lived up at least to me. Volador really killed it in his match and ACH has been his regular self and they put on one of my favorite matches of the tournament. Defintley something that is worth the watch as well.
Match Rating: ****
Rysuke Taguchi vs KUSHIDA
This match i’ll admit didn’t hook me on paper but man when they went in there they put on a damn good match. Taguchi did not mess around in this match and it showed as he put on one of the best matches of his entire career and KUSHIDA one of his best performances in recent memory. I might be alone in this opinion but it might be better than Ricochet/Ospreay. You definitely need to watch this, especially for those who think Taguchi can’t wrestle.
Match Rating: ****1/2
They always pull out good stuff for these live shows and they certainly did here. Can’t say I was dissapointed with anything that I watched to be honest. If you haven’t checked it out yet I recommend it, phenomenal matches as long as you skip the first two and if you aren’t a tag match guy then the first 4 and you are good.
