NJPW Best of Super Juniors Day 7 Review 5/25/17

After a short one day break of tournament shows we’re back with Day 7. Looks like a solid lineup let’s see if they lived up to my expectations.

Tiger Mask vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru

This match was slow towards the beginning and tried to turn it up towards the the end but with the time they were given it wasn’t really able to get to that second gear.
I applaud the effort but neither one of these guys has the ability to carry a great match but it’s whatever. Kanemaru picks up a victory which at the moment ties El Desperado for the #1 spot of the B Block.

Volador Jr. vs El Desperado

This match was pretty fun and started off hot. Volador’s tope is still so damn beautiful. Has got to be one of my favorites doing it right now. Other than that I was surprised by the winner as Volador gets a big win here, giving Desperado his first loss of the tournament. This keeps the first place as a tie between fellow Suzuki-Gun members, Kanemaru and Desperado.

Ryusuke Taguchi vs BUSHI

They did the comedy stuff a bit too much here for it to be anything other than ok. BUSHI tried his best to get serious Taguchi and he did towards the end and it was good. The other half was eh. BUSHI does end up with his first win of the tournament here so that’s a good thing. He still might have a shot if he can win his remaining matches so you BUSHI fans have some hope.

ACH vs KUSHIDA

If i’m being honest here I was a bit disappointed in this match. It was like most matches on this card, boring beginning but fired up towards the end but it was too late. I expected this to be a banger but it seemed they were on cruise control which makes sense as it is a smaller show. They did do a slick sequence into the Midnight Driver which gave ACH the win but not enough for me to really get into it.

Overall this show is very skippable. Usually there is at least one must watch shows but can’t really say there is one on here. Don’t go out of you way to watch this, nothing worth your time.
