In-Ring Segment: The VIP Lounge Hosted By MVP
MVP welcomes everyone to the VIP Lounge and then talks about how much better his guest is than everyone. He tells that his guest’s heart is so huge that when Drew McIntyre was an unemployed bum he took him in and made him into the man he is today. He then tells how McIntyre is so rude and disrespectful he won’t even say thank you to the man who made him. He then says his guest will show off and show out at Extreme Rules. He then compliments Ziggler once more before bringing him out.
Ziggler compliments MVP on the VIP Lounge set and then says he loves the new United States Championship and jokes about changing the WWE Championship. MVP tells Ziggler everyone knows Drew is legit but you made him so you know what makes him tick. Ziggler tells him he knows what it takes to turn him into the same Drew McIntyre that sent him out of the door in the first place. He then asks MVP how many times he thinks Drew McIntyre has mentioned his name. He then proclaims that’s zero. He says that McIntyre doesn’t beat Brock Lesnar without him, without him he would be an absolute zero that doesn’t add up. MVP then thanks Ziggler for all the selflessness he gives to the people. Ziggler says it is the lack of gratitude and lack of thanks that is the reason Drew McIntyre will lose the WWE title. Here comes Drew McIntyre!
McIntyre apologizes for interpreting this ass-kissing session. MVP tells him he has real class. McIntyre then tells MVP tonight this is about Ziggler. McIntyre tells he has been doing a lot of soul searching since last week. He then tells that Ziggler uses people. He tells how he was the muscle for Ziggler and did all the dirty work. McIntyre tells Ziggler he may be one of the best performers this industry has seen but this Sunday. Ziggler cuts him off and sarcastically says he knows he’s gonna get taken to Claymore country. McIntyre tells him they are beyond that. He says he will hurt, maim, and torture Ziggler this Sunday. He then says he thinks he can’t wait until Sunday and needs a little bit of this action right now. McIntyre then hits Ziggler with a straight right and drops him.
My Opinion:
Ziggler seems as confident as ever but the issue is he always is this way before big matches but the results aren’t always great. Being this confident especially against someone on as big of a role as Drew McIntyre is a mistake. Ziggler should have some sense of desperation and some sense of need to win but he just seems too nonchalant. I hope Ziggler has a good stipulation picked out because he will need it to win this match. McIntyre on the other hand seems ready to hurt and for this whole year we have seen nothing but McIntyre follows through on his promises. I expect this Sunday to be the same but I’m very curious to see how Ziggler will try to pull this one off!
Backstage Segment: Andrade & Angel Garza & Zelina Vega & The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Charly welcomes Angel Garza, Andrade, and Zelina Vega. Charly asks Angel and Andrade how they get on the same page for their match tonight against the Viking Raiders. Vega jumps in and asks Charly why she feeds this false narrative that they aren’t on the same page. She says Charly can’t face the facts that they have already beaten the Viking Raiders, helped Randy Orton topple Big Show, and have the Street Profits running scared. Vega then makes fun of Charly. Garza jumps in and says the beauty of the elimination match he could be both of the Viking Raiders. Andrade then says if they have each other’s backs they will win the tag team titles. The Viking Raiders come up and Erik says for over a year they have the most dominant team on Raw. Erik tells Andrade and Garza they have dishonored the tag division by attacking their friends the Street Profits. Erik then tells them tonight they will run through them. Ivar then gives Charly a rose as the two share a moment.
Match 1: Elimination Tag Team Match:
The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs Andrade & Angel Garza w/ Zelina Vega
Garza and Andrade go right after Erik and Ivar as the match begins. Andrade now in with Ivar continues to wear him down. He goes after the knee of Ivar and takes him to the ground. Garza tags in and looks to continue the offense but stops to take off his pants. This allows Erik to tag in. Erik takes out Andrade and now focuses on Garza. He takes Garza down and hits him with a huge chop. Ivar tags in and dominates Garza. He tries to put him away but he kicks out. Erik gets Garza in the corner. He tries to throw him into the other but Garza hangs on and is able to outsmart Erik. Garza then hits a superkick. Andrade tags in and he hits double knees. He then hits the Hammerlock DDT. He covers and gets the 1 2 3. Erik is eliminated as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Andrade controls Ivar in the corner and tags Garza. Ivar fights back and is able to send Andrade to the floor. Then goes after Garza but he is hit by Garza instead and now he drops to the floor. Ivar comes too and is able to take out both Garza and Andrade on the floor. Back in the ring, Andrade saves Garza. Garza tries to steal one but Ivar kicks out. Garza sends Ivar into the corner but Ivar catches himself. He then hits Garza with a huge right hand. Ivar is able to avoid Garza and then knock him down to the mat. Andrade tags in now but Ivar is able to knock him down quickly with a spin kick after Andrade saves Garza. Ivar covers and is able to get the 1 2 3. Andrade is eliminated. Ivar now controls Garza. He lays out Garza with a spin kick and covers but Andrade cheats and puts Garza’s foot on the rope. Garza stays with it and is able to fight back. Garza now counters Ivar into a powerbomb. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: Andrade & Angel Garza
My Opinion:
This wasn’t as competitive of a match as I thought it would be. I’m fine with Andrade and Garza becoming a successful tag team but to do it at the expense of the Viking raiders just doesn’t seem right. I mean the Viking Raiders just don’t look dominant anymore and no matter how good they were it’s hard to believe in them now. I think the mission of getting Garza and Andrade over as this dominant team could have been handled in a better way or a way that made both teams look better and not so easily beaten. Hopefully, this won’t be in vain and this leads to something big for Garza and Andrade.
Backstage Segment: the IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay) & Ruby Riott
Sara welcomes Ruby Riott. She tells how Riott has been involved with drama with the IIconics. So goes to take a look but the IIconics come up and say they will take it from here. They then mock Riott again and then go over how they have both beaten Riott individually. They then say this tag team match seems like it will be a handicap match because you don’t have any friends. Here comes Bianca Belair. Belair goes over how she is going to be the greatest tag team partner because she doesn’t like how the IIconics think. Riott and Belair both proclaim to beat the IIconics and head to the ring.
Match 2: Bianca Belair & Ruby Riott vs The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)
Riott is able to hit Royce with an elbow and then take a shot at Kay on the apron. Riott tries to put Royce away early but can’t. Hse tries again but still no luck. Riott hits the standing STO but still it is not enough to put Royce away. Royce prevents a tag for Riott but makes one of her own. Kay hits a big boot. She stays on Riott and tries to put her away but Riott kicks out. Royce tags in now and continues to wear down Riott with big strikes. Royce now hits a big spin kick. Riott fights back with a big jawbreaker. Belair now gets the tag and so does Kay. Belair takes it to Kay and is able to take her down on the mat. She hits a spear in the corner and drives her shoulder over and over into Kay’s midsection. She now takes a shot at Royce and then lands a handspring on Kay. she covers but Royce breaks it up. Riott helps out Belair with Royce now. Belair then hits the KOD on Kay. She covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: Ruby Riott & Bianca Belair
My Opinion:
Finally, the odds were even and Ruby Riott got some much-needed revenge thanks to her partner tonight. It was great to see Bianca Belair tonight and I hope we see her more. Although I think Belair has every tool to stand just fine on her own, I do think her and Riott as a tag team could be interesting going forward. Either way, I’m glad Riott has some backup because it was much needed after a few tough losses.
Backstage Segment: R-Truth & Cedric Alexander & Ricochet
Truth comes up to Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. Truth says he heard Ricochet won MVP for Raw. Ricochet tells him he is wrestling Bobby Lashey with MVP on Raw. Cedric then asks Truth if he should be more concerned for his match against Randy Orton. Truth tells them he was challenged by Ric Flair. Cedric then clues him in that he was challenged by Ric Flair on behalf of Randy Orton. Ricochet then explains to Truth who Randy Orton is. Truth says he’s gotta go. Truth then comes up to Tozawa and asks him to teach him how to be a black belt. Tozawa says no and tries to cover Truth but he kicks out. The ninjas then come up but Ricochet and Cedric stand by Truth. As Raw goes to break Truth tells Tozawa to meet him in the ring right now.
In-Ring Segment: R-Ruth & Akira Tozawa & Shayna Baszler
Truth makes his way to the ring and then counts the ninjas around Tozawa. Truth is then cut off as Shayna Baszler appears! Baszler comes in the ring and takes out all the ninjas with various moves. Tozawa then says he’s out and exits the ring. Truth tells Tozawa he better leave and don’t come back. Truth then says he will let himself out and leaves the ring. Baszler takes the mic and says she has been so patient. She says she has allowed everyone here to have their fun but she is done. She then tells how the women are running around her thinking they are in control. She then says she is here to hit them with a hard dose of reality and she is that reality.
My Opinion:
What an awesome surprise to see Shayna Baszler back! I think the Women’s Division needs her back as she can be a great foe for anyone on the roster. Baszler is a proven champion and has shown she can go out and have great matches. There’s no doubt she should be in the mix for the Raw Women’s Championship again and probably should already have it. She is believable in the ring and on the mic and if they allow her to be herself she will be one of the best heels in WWE today.
Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins & Murphy
Rollins asks Murphy what’s troubling him. Murphy asks Rollins if eye for an eye means they will literally go out there and try to blind each other. Rollins tells him nothing of significance happens without sacrifice and that Rey Mysterio asked for this. Rollins tells Murphy to stay here and focus on his match with Aleister Black. He then says he has a message to deliver.
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins
Rollins says an eye for an eye, an eye for an eye, an eye for an eye, an eye for an eye. He says it over and over and says he knows what it means. He says he thought last week Rey Mysterio meant it as a metaphor for revenge but he has come to understand that Rey Mysterio meant it literally. He says he is trying to comprehend and understand how we got to this point because all he is trying to do is lead Monday Night Raw into a great future. He then tells how Rey Mysterio has gotten in the way of that. He says now we are at a point where he is in a match where you must win by plucking your opponent’s eyeball from its socket. Rollins tells how a match like this has never been sanctioned in this company. Rollins says he will keep saying this because it is the truth but again he never meant to hurt Rey Mysterio.
He says he has done everything to fulfill the prophecy for the greater good. He tells that the WWE Universe asked for him to do this and be this leader leading Raw into the future. Rollins says this year Extreme Rules is called the Horror Show and that’s exactly what it’s going to be. He says Rey Mysterio has forced his hand so he will be forced to rip and gauge until he is completely blind. Rollins tells that Mysterio won’t see his son get married or see his wife’s face or see a sunrise or sunset. He says Extreme Rules will be the end of Rey Mysterio but in many ways, it will be a new beginning, a new beginning for Monday Night Raw. Here comes Kevin Owens.
Owens says last week he expected Rey Mysterio to pick a Last Man Standing match or a Steel Cage Match but instead Rey picked an eye for an eye match. Owens says as much as he thinks this match is disturbing he thinks its more disturbing that Rollins is such a scumbag that he made someone as nice as Rey Mysterio go to a point he wants to gauge Rollins’ eye out. He says he does get where Rey is coming from but he does have Rollins covered because he knows a pirate named Jean Pierre Lafitte. He then pulls out an eye patch. Rollins then tells Owens he won’t make it to their match tonight and calls out Murphy. Aleister Black then comes out and stops Murphy as Raw goes to break.
My Opinion:
It’s crazy to me how comfortable Rollins seems to be with this stipulation. There doesn’t seem to be any hesitation inside of him but inside he seems excited by the wonders of what he can do to Mysterio. This match definitely won’t be for the faint of heart.
Match 3: Murphy w/ Seth Rollins vs Aleister Black w/ Kevin Owens
Murphy goes right after Black. Black comes back and hits Murphy with a big kick. Murphy comes back and hits Black with a dropkick to the knees. Black goes to the apron and Murphy meets him. Murphy grabs the leg of Black and is able to knock Black down to the mat. Back in the ring, Murphy hits Black with an elbow. Murphy tries to fly but he is hit with a big kick. Black hits Murphy with a big forearm. Black fights back but he is hit with a huge knee. Black then goes low and knocks Murphy down at the ankles. After more back and forth Aleister Black tries a suplex off the ropes. Black then hits a devastating Black Mass to Murphy was still on the ropes. Black now covers Murphy but the pin is broken up by Rollins. Rollins attacks Black but here comes Rey and Dominik Mysterio to stop Rollins attack.
Winner: Aleister Black: Via DQ
My Opinion:
Although this match is mixed into a much bigger story I was still impressed as always with these two. Murphy and Black create magic in the ring and I love every chance we get to see them together. It was a great reminder of how lucky we are to see the number of matches we did between them months ago. I hope someday we get another 20-30 minute classic between them because they always deliver!
Match 4: Seth Rollins vs Kevin Owens w/ Aleister Black & Rey & Dominik Mysterio
Owens hammers on Rollins early in this match. He controls him in the corner as Rollins struggles to fight back. Owens now knocks him down to the mat. Rollins begs Owens to show mercy but Owens doesn’t listen and continues the beat down. Rollins still can’t mount any offense. Owens has Rollins in the cover and hits him with the cannonball. He covers but Rollins kicks out. Owens now drives his knee into the back of Rollins as he stretches his arms.
Rollins now tries to kick Owens but Owens stays with it and sends him to the outside. Rolins comes up to the apron after being surrounded three on one. Owens then knocks him down. Rollins gets in the ring now and sends Owens to the floor. Rollins now gets distracted and Owens attacks him. Rollins now tries to escape but Owens grabs him and brings him back in the ring. Rollins keeps trying to escape but can’t. On the floor, Owens bounces him off the plexiglass. Owens keeps him down as he goes and resets the 10 count. Owens gets Rollins on the apron but Rollins slips off. He tries to choke Owens but Owens hits him with a headbutt. Rollins fights back again and sends Owens into the barricade as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Rollins has turned things around. Now on the outside, Owens hits Rollins with a chop. Rollins stays with it and sends him into the plexiglass. Rollins now brings him back into the ring. Rollins hits Owens in the face. He covers but Owens kicks out. Rollins now stretches the back of Owens. Owens fights back but Rollins hits him right back. He then uses the ropes to choke Owens before putting him in a chin lock. Owens again fights back with strikes but Rollins gets back on the offensive. Rollins hits him with a big forearm. Owens though catches Rollins with a superkick. Owens and Rollins get up and Owens now hits a huge DDT. Owens covers but Rollins kicks out. Owens gets Rollins in the corner. Rollins fights out with a big kick. He then sends Owens into the turnbuckle. Rollins hits him with a blockbuster.
He covers but Owens kicks out. Rollins now looks for the superkick but Owens catches him. Owens rolls him up and hits him with a superkick. Owens looks for the powerbomb but Rollins stops him with a series of kicks. Rollins covers but again Owens kicks out. Rollins misses on the Stomp. Owens misses on the Stunner. Rollins goes up top but Owens is able to stop him. Owens meets him up there and looks for a suplex. Rollins hangs on and rakes the eye of Kevin Owens. Owens then falls to the mat. Rollins now fights Black off the apron. He then fights Dominik off and then Rey off. The three then get back on the apron. This allows Owens to hit a big Stunner. Owens covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Mysterio tells Rollins he crossed every line there is to cross and now it’s his turn. Mysterio says this Sunday he is going to make a sacrifice of his own. He tells Rollins he is walking into this match with two eyes but walking out with only one.
Winner: Kevin Owens
My Opinion:
A very good match between these two even though it was unfair for Rollins but, given his actions, it was deserved. Owens gets a win here and although that’s good for Owens, I don’t think it’s good for Rey Mysterio. Mysterio has never proven to be someone who will take it to the limit and really hurt someone. However, Rollins has shown he will go to any length to get what he wants. I really think this loss will only make Rollins madder and this Sunday it will be unleashed. I have no idea what to expect but it will be interesting, to say the least.
Backstage Segment: Big Show & Ric Flair
Flair talks things over with Big Show. he goes over how much time they have spent together. Flair talks about the big guys in wrestling and tells Big Show he thinks about him the most. Flair tells him he is separate and always has been. Flair tells him he is picking a fight he can’t win. Flair tells Show he left this business and needs to look at Edge as an example when you try to come back after walking away. Flair tells him to go into the Hall Of Fame healthy and not with an injury from Randy Orton. Flair tells Show Orton is on top of the wrestling world right now. Flair then tells him to give this some thought. Show tells Flair he knows what he just tried to do. Show says he has never seen Randy Orton so dangerous. He says he knows what Orton has done. He then says Orton has a match with their friend R-Truth tonight. He then asks Flair if he is willing to sacrifice his friendships to allow Orton to be the Legend Killer.
Backstage Segment: Randy Orton
Randy Orton tells he had a handful of friends like Edge, Christian, Big Show, and Ric Flair. He tells that when Edge came back he just had to step in the ring and be Rated RKO but Edge didn’t trust him. Orton tells how he sent Edge back to be a father at home. He then brings up Christian who defended his friend’s honor and there’s nothing wrong with that but he had to do what he had to do in the unsanctioned match. He then brings up Big Show and talks about the relationship he had. He then asks why Big show would do this and fracture their friendship. He then says Ric Flair is family and it would be a shame if Ric did anything to jeopardize their friendship. He says as far as his match tonight goes, he has respect for Truth so it is going to be a shame when all R-Truth amounts to is one more chapter in the long history of the Legend Killer. Ric Flair comes up and tells him come on let’s do it. Orton says he will be right behind him.
Match 5: R-Truth vs Randy Orton w/ Ric Flair
***Before the match Ric Flair comes out and tells Truth he wants to be the first to congratulate him on the most illustrious career he has seen in a long time. He says Truth has been going for two decades and has been rocking and rolling. Flair tells him and Randy Orton both love R-Truth. He then says because of that Orton won’t punt his head off and instead will just hit him with the RKO.
As the match begins Truth tries to bait Orton and does. He is able to mount some offense before Orton hits him with a huge RKO. Orton covers and gets the 1 2 3 just like that.
***After the match, Flair and Orton go to leave the ring but Orton stops before exiting. Flair tries to plead with Orton but Orton walks over to Truth and sizes him up for the punt anyway. Here comes Big Show! Orton tells Show one more step and he will remove Truth’s head. Orton tells Show he knows he is angry but he has something that will put a smile on his face. He tells Truth when he punted Edge and Christian it hurt him more than him. He then asks Show to get together in this ring next Sunday in an unsanctioned match. Show says okay. He then slides in the ring but Orton leaves quickly.
Winner: Randy Orton
My Opinion:
As quick as that was Orton proved the point that he can pick his spot and act on it. It might not be as easy against someone like Big Show but you have to believe that Orton has a plan and will see it through to the best of his abilities. Big Show is ready to destroy Orton but he better go into the match with a clear head. Show wasn’t able to beat Drew McIntyre a few months ago so it’s not likely a match against the ultra dangerous Randy Orton will go smoothly.
Backstage Segment: MVP & Bobby Lashley & Ricochet & Cedric Alexander
MVP and Lashley come up to Cedric and Ricochet. MVP tells them they come in peace and asks Cedric about his offer. Cedric rejects and walks away with Ricochet. Lashley says they will never learn. Sara comes up and asks MVP about his match this Sunday. MVP says he has already beaten the champ and his win is a foregone conclusion and they will celebrate at an undisclosed VIP Lounge location. Sara then asks Lashley about his match tonight. Lashley says Ricochet will be injured tonight courtesy of the hurt business.
Backstage Segment: Drew McIntyre
Sara asks Drew about allowing Dolph to pick the stipulation this Sunday. McIntyre says he was trying to be nice but the psychopath is out now and he can pick any damn situation he wants. Dolph then attacks Drew and the two have to be broken up.
Match 6: Bobby Lashley w/ MVP vs Ricochet w/ Cedric Alexander
As the match begins, Ricochet runs away from Lashley and does his best to create space. Lashley catches him on the outside and knocks him down. He then slams him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Lashley chokes Ricochet with his boot in the corner. Ricochet tries to fight back but he gets caught and Lashley slams him into the mat. He covers but Ricochet kicks out. Lashley gets him in the corner again and continues to wear him down. Lashley now hits him with elbow strikes. Lashley hits a snap suplex and covers but Ricochet kicks out. Lashley takes him down again. Ricochet fights back with a big kick. Ricochet hits a standing shooting star. He covers but Lashley kicks out. Ricochet hits a suplex and now looks for a back elbow off the ropes. Lashley catches Ricochet and locks in the full nelson. Ricochet taps out. Alexander comes in to help but he eventually gets caught and put out by the full nelson as well.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
My Opinion:
Another dominant performance by Lashley and I’m hoping he keeps this up. I love the pairing of him and MVP and together I think they are doing a lot of great things in elevating the talent around them. This Sunday I think will be no different. I do think Apollo Crews will pull off this win but I believe MVP will give him one heck of a match. If MVP is going to win you’d have to believe that Lashley will be involved in some form.
Backstage Segment: Big Show
Charly asks Big Show about accepting the challenge of Randy Orton. Big Show says let me clarify everything for everybody, yes I accept.
Match 7: Sasha Banks & Bayley (c) vs The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane):

She covers but Asuka kicks out. Bayley tags in again and she tries to put Asuka away this time but can’t. Asuka fights back and finally gets a tag. Sane comes in strong, hitting Bayley with massive strikes. Sane then takes it to Banks, sending her across the ring. Sane takes them both down now.

Asuka brings Banks into the ring and hits her with big round kicks. She covers but Banks kicks out. Asuka now works the arm of Banks. Asuka then hits Banks with a hip attack in the corner. As Raw returns, Banks has Sane in a chin lock. Banks now works it into a cover but Sane kicks out. Bayley tags in now and they double team Sane in the corner. Bayley and Banks now double team Asuka and slam her into the mat. Bayley covers but Asuka kicks out. Bayley gets her in the corner and brings her up top. Banks tags in. Bayley hits the hurricanranna on Asuka. Bayley takes out Sane. Banks tries a cover but Asuka kicks out. Asuka fights back and works the Asuka Lock. Bayley tries to break it up but Sane stops her. Banks is able to counter Sane and work the Banks Statement. Sane taps out.
Winners: Sasha Banks & Bayley: Still WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
My Opinion:
Wow, one heck of a main event from these four tonight! I absolutely loved that one and that is exactly what the tag titles needed to help elevate them to where they should be! This got me super pumped for this weekend as well. I think Banks and Asuka will put on an amazing match and it very well could be a classic if given enough time. Bayley and Nikki Cross will also be a good one. I’ve been impressed with all the women in WWE as of late, minus that karaoke segment they’ve really put on great matches and are making the most of their opportunities.
Final Thoughts:
I enjoyed tonight’s show and I’m definitely ready for Extreme Rules as there is a lot to look forward to! I liked the opening tonight with how dominant Drew McIntyre is. With how obvious it seems that McIntyre will run through Ziggler you have to believe this Sunday Ziggler will bring a stipulation that is sure to awe people watching and give him a huge advantage that McIntyre will have overcome. I also loved the return of Shayna Baszler and seeing Bianca Belair once again. Both women have something to add to this roster on Raw and I think both of them could be in title contention very soon and run with the opportunity, maybe even as rivals down the road! I also really liked the continued build between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio.
Everyone has to be raking their minds to figure out what exactly we will see on Sunday. I’m not sure how it will turn out but it is going to be interesting to watch. I think right now Seth Rollins is more dangerous than ever and he’ll come out swinging after getting screwed over tonight. Also, a shout out to Aleister Black and Murphy for delivering once again! I’m excited about the unsanctioned match between Orton and Show. This should be a good one but I think the Legend Killer will rise again. Even though there was little build I’m very excited for Apollo Crews and MVP. I really think they’ll have one heck of a match on Sunday. Finally, the main event was a great one and I can’t wait to see these women kill it once again on Sunday! As always I hope everyone stays safe and healthy this week. Enjoy NXT, SmackDown, and Extreme Rules this Sunday!!!!
