Raw comes to us from the WWE Performance Center.
Raw kicks off with us being introduced by Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and Samoa Joe.
In-Ring Segment: Randy Orton
Orton says 20 years he has been here in the WWE and for 20 years he has been called many different names, The Viper, The Apex Predator, The Legend Killer. He then talks about being the youngest world champion and the groups he has been in like Legacy, The Authority, and Evolution. He talks about how Stone Cold and The Rock are legends but they couldn’t hold a candle to his longevity and what he has done in WWE. He then says something is missing, he says he has a desire to be WWE Champion again. He talks about bringing Drew McIntyre into the conversation but comparing resumes would be a short conversation.
He says 10 years ago Drew McIntyre had his head so far up his own ass he got himself fired. He then talks about Drew’s comeback and how he has respect for him and for him beating Brock Lesnar. He then tells Drew he has a problem and that problem is that Drew has what he wants. He then says he has a tendency to take things from people that he wants in the grandest of atmospheres. He then tells Drew he wants a WWE Championship Match at SummerSlam. Orton tells him when he RKO’s him and puts the WWE title over his shoulder, he will never see it coming. Orton then heads up the ramp and Nia Jax comes out as Orton exits.
My Opinion:
I love the idea of Orton taking on McIntyre! I think these two can tell an amazing story and I think McIntyre will bring the aggressive side out of Orton and make him have a very hard-hitting match instead of a classic longer style of Orton matches. There is no doubt that McIntyre will accept this and the only question will be if McIntyre can do what few have and that is stopping Orton before Orton gets what he wants. We have seen Orton on another level as of late but at the same time, McIntyre has also been unstoppable. This is definitely going to be an intriguing matchup where anything could happen!
In-Ring Segment: Nia Jax
Nia says she heard Randy talking just now, waking up and wanting to be WWE Champion. She says she knows exactly how Randy Feels because she woke up wanting to be WWE Champion. She talks about how she was screwed by a referee and then Charlotte Flair took her spot. She says she knows Sasha Banks has a match against Asuka tonight but… she is then cut off by Shayna Baszler.
Baszler tells Nia no one gives a damn what she wants. Nia then knocks Baszler down. Nia continues the attack but here comes Baszler battling back. Referees make their way to the ring to separate them as Raw goes to break!
My Opinion:
A matchup between these two women would be awesome. They’re both very hard-hitting and they have to be considered the most dominant women on Raw. Both obviously feel they should be in the title picture so there is no better way to decide who rightfully should be than to let them fight. This would be a match that won’t be pretty but we will see who is the truly unstoppable force on Raw!
In-Ring Segment: The Street Profits
Ford says they are very excited to join everyone tonight as the winner of this next contest will face them at SummerSlam. Ford then tells how he woke up today and thought that there was one thing he always wanted to do. They then both agree on ring announcing. They first bring out The Viking Raiders. Next out are Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. Last out is Garza and Andrade!
Match 1: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs Angel Garza & Andrade vs Ricochet & Cedric Alexander
Winner’s Receive A Raw Tag Team Championship Match At SummerSlam
Garza and Andrade jump Erik and Ivar before the match begins. They then turn to Alexander and Ricochet. Garza and Andrade hold the ring and taunt the Street Profits as Raw goes to break!
As Raw returns, Ivar takes control of Alexander. Alexander uses his quickness to work away from Ivar. Ivar finally catches him and takes him down to the mat. Ricochet comes in now and together he and Alexander are able to wear down Ivar. Erik tags in now and the two teams have a standoff. The two teams then team up and attack Garza and Andrade. Back in the ring, Ricochet and Alexander take it to Garza. Erik and Ivar continue to beat down Andrade on the floor. Alexander and Ricochet continue to hold their own in the ring.
The two teams keep Garza and Andrade down. Ivar then gets hit with a dropkick from Ricochet. Andrade gets back into the match and he works with Ricochet to wear down Erik in the corner. Andrade lands a knee and then Ricochet does the same. Ricochet covers but Andrade breaks it up. Andrade now takes it to Ricochet Ivar comes and takes it to Andrade. He plants him on the mat and hits a big splash. Ivar takes him down in the corner. Garza then hits a superkick on Ivar. Erik is back in the ring and hits double knees on Garza as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Garza and Andrade work on Ivar on the floor. They pick up Ivar and send him into the barricade. Garza then hits Alexander and takes him down. In the ring, Andrade hits the double knees on Erik. He covers but Erik kicks out. Erik hits Andrade with a big right now. Ricochet and Garza now tag in. Ricochet hits Garza with big strikes in the corner. Ricochet then hits a flying clothesline. He follows up with the standing moonsault but it is not enough to put Garza away. Alexander comes in hitting Garza with big knees. Erik takes it to Andrade now with a big knee. Erik then looks to fly to the outside but he is stopped in his tracks with a big kick from Garza. Ivar now goes up top and takes down Ricochet, Alexander, and Erik on the floor. Garza now looks for the Wing Clipper on Alexander. He hits it and gets the 1 2 3 on the cover. Andrade and Garza are headed to SummerSlam!
*** After the match, Garza and Andrade trade words with Ford and Dawkins. Garza and Andrade then attack Ford and Dawkins. Garza and Andrade then run away quickly after Ford and Dawkins come to.
Winners: Angel Garza & Andrade
Will Face The Street Profits for the Championships At SummerSlam
My Opinion:
A solid and exciting match between these three teams. You could tell each team wanted that opportunity and they really left it all out there. I thought Ricochet and Cedric broke their alliance with Erik and Ivar too early though. It was a mistake for them as Andrade and Garza were the hottest team going into it. It would have been smart to eliminate them off the jump. Instead, Garza and Andrade showed exactly why they are one of the most impressive teams on Raw. Although they have their issues at times there is no denying their talent. If they can get on the same page on the road to SummerSlam I think they could have a good shot at winning the Raw Tag Team Championships!
Backstage Segment: Nia Jax
Nia Jax talks things over with referee John Cone. The two have had problems in the past so you have to believe Nia is making a case here to keep things fair and down the middle out there, next!
Match 2: Nia Jax vs Shayna Baszler
Baszler goes right after Jax. The bell rings and Baszler continues the attack. Jax overpowers her and dumps her to the floor. Jax meets her out there and keeps continuing. Baszler tries to fight back but instead, she is driven face-first into the barricade. The two continue to brawl and get counted out by the referee. Security now comes out to separate them but they continue to fight. They finally get them separated but Shayna now puts a security guard in the Kirifuda Clutch. Nia then shoves an official and continues the beatdown on him. Baszler tries to get back in the ring but she is stopped. Officials finally drag Baszler away.
Winner: Double Count Out
My Opinion:
I’m not shocked by how this ended being that these you are true fighters and they weren’t going to play by the rules of having a clean match. I don’t think this is the last time we will see them meet though as both seemed ready to tear each other’s head off. You have to believe this match will happen soon but hopefully next time WWE will play by their rules so we get a true winner. A no DQ match between them seems like the likely option but eventually, we will find out who is superior between the two!
Backstage Segment: Seth Rollins & Murphy
Rollins asks Murphy if he is with him. Murphy asks Rollins if he thinks Dominik will show up tonight. Rollins says he thinks he will because people like Dominik can’t seem to get out of their own way. Rollins tells Murphy not to worry as the greater good will move forward. He then tells Murphy tonight will be blood, just trust him.
Backstage Segment: Mark Henry & Ruby Riott & Bianca Belair
Ruby Riott and Bianca Belair catch up with WWE Hall OF Famer, Mark Henry!
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins & Murphy
Rollins tells how at Extreme Rules he defeated the legend Rey Mysterio and last week on Raw he defeated Aleister Black. He says the Monday Night Messiah is on a roll and he should be in a great mood but he is not. He says he is not in a great mood because Dominik Mysterio is here tonight and he plans to confront the Monday Night Messiah. He says this seems to be a recurring theme as every time the greater good takes a step forward something gets in the way and makes it take a step backward. He says the worst part is that every time someone does this they end up getting hurt. He tells of Owens’ broken ankle. Mysterio’s eye, and Black’s injured arm. He says he doesn’t want to be the one to hurt people. He says the last time Dominik was here Dominik jumped him from behind and things got more violent than he preferred. He says tonight will be different. He says he has a soft spot for the Mysterio family. He says to keep this from getting violent he wants to invite Dominik out here to confront him man to man. He tells him to come to the ring and do this the right way. Dominik then appears on the stage.
He walks slowly to the ring and Rollins tells him to come to the ring. He tells him to come in the ring and say what he has to say. He tells him this doesn’t have to be how it has been. Dominik makes his way to the ring. Rollins says he understands why Dominik came to Raw. He tells him to talk about how he is feeling. He says he is here for him and if he needs any guidance or any help at all… Dominik then spears Rollins. He then goes after Murphy. Murphy and Rollins then double team, Dominik. They get him out on the floor and continue the attack. They then throw him into the barricade. They continue to stomp out Dominik. They throw him into the barricade again. Rollins asks Dominik what is wrong with him and his whole family. They then send Dominik into the side of the announce desk. Rollins then says this isn’t his fault and that Dominik asked for this. He says he didn’t want it to come to this.
Aleister Black now appears and attacks Rollins. Murphy takes him down. Rollins and Murphy now team up and go after the arm of Black. They then send him into the barricade. They pick him up and do it again. Black tries to fight back but Murphy kicks him and takes him down again continuing the attack. Rollins then hits Black with the stomp. Rollins then tells Murphy he knows what he has to do. He tells him this is for the greater good and aks if he is in this. He then slaps Murphy. He tells him he knows what he has to do. Murphy grabs Black and brings him to the steps pressing the eye of Black into it. Rollins then says find the kid. Dominik comes out of nowhere with a kendo stick. He unloads on Murphy and then Rollins. Rollins and Murphy go running away from him.
My Opinion:
Another segment with Rollins where I’m left wanting more. There is something about this that is very intriguing to me. I love how again Rollins and Murphy get the upper hand and they completely take over but then they get chased away and the sides look even. When they beat down Dominik I really thought they would keep him down but Dominik was able to fight back. You have to wonder what Rollins and Murphy will do now especially since Murphy showed tonight he is all in to do whatever Rollins tells him to do. I hope this leads to something big at SummerSlam because it has been a great story so far!
Backstage Segment: Ali & R-Truth
Truth tells Ali he heard he is a guest on the MVP Lounge. Ali says he thinks it’s the VIP Lounge. Truth asks him if he is going after the 24/7 Championship. Ali says he isn’t and his focus is on his match with Bobby Lashley. Truth says he is going back after his baby. Ali likes the idea. Truth then says I have my eye on you Mufasa.
In-Ring Segment: MVP Lounge
Hosted By MVP w/ Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin
MVP says he is in the ring so that means big things are Poppin, little things are stopping. He tells everyone to sit back and enjoy the VIP Lounge done by people better than you. He talks about how last week he thought he would be able to celebrate his victory at Extreme Rules where he became the real united States Champion but it didn’t go down like that. He says that last week he was introduced to a man that he would like to help. He says this man chases the light and he would like to show this man the light. He then brings out his guest Mustafa Ali.
Ali gets in the ring and MVP welcomes him to the MVP Lounge. MVP tells him this is where made men congregate. He says this is where you make the right decisions and when you make wrong ones you become unpleasant to the hurt business. Ali talks about how he and his friends put the hurt business out of business. He then says he is happy to have the opportunity to climb the ladder and become a real champion. MVP tells him all the things he said could happen. MVP says when you hang out with the right people good things happen.
Ali says he won’t be brainwashed. He says he thinks for himself and always will. MVP tells Ali that Apollo Crews thought a lot like he is and now Apollo is on the couch watching them. He tells him he could party like a rockstar or sit on the couch with Apollo. He tells Ali he could be champion or chum in the water for predators. Ali says no he said no. Truth comes out of nowhere and goes after Benjamin. He takes him to the floor and tries to pin him for the 24/7 Championship but he kicks out. Truth then has to get out of the way as Lashley and MVP come to help Benjamin as Raw goes to break.
My Opinion:
I get where Ali is coming from but then again I think being with MVP could have been good for him. Either way, though this is a great opportunity for Ali as working with MVP, Lashley, and Shelton will really show him what he can do. Ali is very talented and has a lot to give so hopefully this is the time he can show it. Of course, Ali isn’t this larger than life superstar but he has a big heart and he can do a lot of amazing things in the ring. At the end of this, I hope Ali gets the respect that he deserves!
Match 3: Ali vs Bobby Lashley w/ MVP & Shelton Benjamin
Ali tries to take it to Lashley early but Lashley takes control and works him in the corner. Lashley throws Ali. he then hits a spear in the corner. Lashley hits him with big elbows. He continues the attack and Ali drops to the mat. Lashley brings Ali to his feet and throws him off the ropes. Lashley grabs him and slams him down to the mat. He then tees off with a series of strikes. Lashley grabs Ali and hits a stalling suplex. On the floor, Tozawa tries to pin Benjamin but he kicks out. Benjamin grabs him and throws him into the barricade. MVP then takes out another ninja. Lashley then takes the ninja out on the floor. He lifts the ninja now and drives him into the ring post. Lashley grabs him again but this allows Ali to hit him from behind and take him down on the floor as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Lashley stomps on Ali in the ring. Ali gets to his feet but Lashley now uses the ropes to help him choke Ali. Lashley sends him off the ropes now. Ali tries to fight back but Lashley hits him in the throat. Ali again tries to fight back but Lashley catches him on the ropes and plants him on the apron sending Ali to the floor. Lashley then sends Ali off the ring post. Lashley keeps the beating on. He rolls back in the ring and breaks the count. Lashley grabs Ali and brings him in the ring.
He covers but Ali kicks out. Lashley now hammers on him with big elbows. Lashley then puts Ali in a vice grip. Ali gets to his feet and fights back. Lashley catches him again and hits an elevated Flatliner. Lashley covers but again Ali kicks out. Ali climbs to his feet. Lashley now lifts him but Ali slips off of him. Ali continues to try to fight back as Lashey tries for the dominator. Ali hits him with a boot and then a DDT. Ali now goes up top and goes for the 450 but he has to roll through as Lashley moves. Lashley now locks in the full nelson. Ali taps out.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
My Opinion:
Another dominating win for Bobby Lashley. Although I loved the heart that Ali showed, it just wasn’t enough to overcome the power of Lashley. Lately, Lashley has just run through his opponents. They show some fight but ultimately he is just too much. I wonder if Lashley will be built up to be the champion again. I feel like this group would be so much better with a crowd because they would really be able to show how much of heels they are. They are making the most of it but I hope the Hurt Business gets on top at some point.
Backstage Segment: Dolph Ziggler
Charly asks Dolph if he has possibly learned the stipulation that Drew has picked. Dolph says no and he doesn’t care. He then says Randy can keep waiting because he is going to be going to SummerSlam to face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship.

Banks and Bayley now celebrate in the ring.
Winner: Sasha Banks: New Raw Women’s Champion
My Opinion:
Another competitive match between these two. I really love every time they are in the ring as they bring out the best in each other. They also slow down the match and focus on one body part which is something that gets lost a lot. I love the psychology that they use and they tell a great story. Banks wins and now she and Bayley are officially in control. I don’t think this will be the end of Asuka though as she lost in a cheap way. I’m very curious to see how this will play out but in the near future one thing is for sure, there will be a lot of celebrating for Banks and Bayley!
Backstage Segment:
Charly stands outside of the trainer’s room. She says there is no word on Kairi Sane right now. Bayley and Sasha then come up and celebrate. Sasha yells that she did it. Winner: Murphy
My Opinion:
Quite the hard-hitting fight between these two. I really wished that one could have gone longer. I think Carrillo and Murphy create magic together as they both give everything they have and you can see there is a will to win. This was a big win for Murphy though as it clearly shows she can stand on his own. Now that he is showing the same actions as Rollins and constantly getting it done in the ring, Murphy could become a very dangerous competitor on Raw.
Backstage Segment:
Drew McIntyre catches up with Mark Henry ahead of McIntyre’s match with Dolph Ziggler, next!
In-Ring Segment: Drew McIntyre
Drew says before he gets to Dolph Ziggler and the stipulation for tonight, he guesses he has to address the comments from Randy Orton. Drew says it officially that at SummerSlam it will be Drew McIntyre versus Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. Drew says he isn’t going to try to compare resumes because no one has one like Randy. McIntyre says Randy is hotter than ever right now. He says he knows he is looked at as the underdog and he hopes Randy looks at him like that because Brock Lesnar did and he kicked his ass in 5 minutes. McIntyre says he might now see the RKO coming but Randy will certainly see the Claymore coming.
Ziggler comes out and says no one cares about your threats Drew. He then calls out Drew for talking about someone other than him. Ziggler then asks for the stipulation. Drew says he is going to pick an Extreme Rules Match just like Ziggler did. He tells Ziggler he can use whatever he wants only this time he can. He then drops Ziggler with a big right as Raw goes to break. !

He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
*** After the match, Orton comes out of nowhere with the RKO! He then bends down and grabs the WWE Championship. Orton holds up the title as Raw goes off the air.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
My Opinion:
A great match to end the night. Drew showed again how dominant he can be but I have to give props to Dolph for showing that kind of fight and really testing Dre at some points. I think this rivalry may be over now since Orton is next in line but if it is, Dolph did his job as always and continues to be one of the most underrated guys. He was a great opponent for Drew and in every way, this has brought out the best in Drew. I loved the surprise attack from Randy at the end and I can’t wait for this story to unfold!
Final Thoughts:
Tonight had a good pace to it and we got to see some hard-hitting matches where there was a true will to win which I loved. I think there are some very good stories developing and there’s a lot I’m excited about! I really enjoyed the Triple Threat Tag Team Match. Those three teams really put on a good match and it was refreshing to see some fight in teams for the prestige of the Raw Tag Team Championships. I think Andrade and Garza present an intriguing matchup for The Street Profits and this match could definitely show the importance of tag team wrestling and why it needs to be highlighted more and better on Raw. Once again I was a big fan of Seth Rollins tonight. I thought again he told a great story and this week made me want even more. He and Murphy beat down Dominik but Dominik fought back just enough to show that there is a fight to be had here, I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I loved the match between Banks and Asuka. Again, we got one of those matches that tells a true story and you see these two scratching and clawing for that victory. This match ended in a less than exciting way but I hope we get to see them face at least once more! Finally, I loved the main event. Ziggler and McIntyre told the perfect story and it was a great way to end the night. These two have had a great rivalry over the past month but now we are onto Orton and McIntyre. This is going to be an interesting one, to say the least. It should be very hard-hitting with not much gray area. I can’t wait to see more! Overall I think Raw will pick up here soon as SummerSlam is inching closer. I’m excited to see how things play out as we are finally leading to another big show! I hope everyone stays safe and healthy this week and enjoys NXT and SmackDown!
Overall Rating: 6/10
