RAW REVIEW 05/04/2020
Tonight is the Go-Home Edition of Monday Night Raw before this Sunday’s Money In The Bank PPV! Before defending his WWE Championship against Seth Rollins at MITB can Drew McIntyre defeat Rollins disciple Murphy and send an important message to the “Monday Night Messiah”? Plus, can the Viking Raiders inch closer to the Raw Tag Team Championships as they face off against the champion Street Profits in a non-title match? Speaking of tag teams, can the impressive duo of Ricochet and Cedric Alexander stay on a roll as they take on Brendan Vink and Shane Thorne? Finally, who will win the Last Chance Gauntlet Match and qualify for the men’s Money In The Bank Match?
Raw comes to us from the WWE Performance Center.
Raw kicks off with us being introduced by Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, and Samoa Joe.
In-Ring Segment: The VIP Lounge: Hosted By MVP
MVP welcomes everyone to Raw and back to the VIP Lounge. He tells that last week things went a little sideways last week. He tells about the brawl on his show last week and then says we are going to go back to style and class this week. He then says that this week he will have the women participants in the MITB. He then shows what happened last week when these three women meet where they brawled it out and Nia Jax was the one who stood tall. MVP then brings out the first competitor, Asuka. MVP then brings out Shayna Baszler. Finally, here comes Nia Jax.
MVP thanks them for being here and tells them to make themselves comfortable because this Sunday they will be way out of their comfort zones in the MITB match. MVP then says Nia you are the most dominant one in this match but do you have the skillset to get to the top floor and get the briefcase. Nia asks if he has seen Raw and then tells him she dominates her opponents and that’s the only skill set she needs. MVP then asks Asuka to respond. Asuka yells and then says big booty. He then turns to Shayna and asks how her skill set will help her to win the MITB match. Shayna says opera nonverba. Shayna says what’s unique is she does all her talking with her actions and that is the biggest difference between her and every competitor in this match, isn’t that right Asuka? Asuka then yells at Shayna. Shayna doesn’t take Asuka lightly. Asuka and Shayna standoff but then join in as they knock Nia out of the ring. MVP gets in between as the two then try to step at each other.
My Opinion:
Tensions are high between these three women and it seems to me it will be one of these Raw Superstars who win the MITB. Between Asuka, Shayna, and Nia there is such a history of dominance and they just seem more ready than the other three on SmackDown. Nia definitely won’t take what happened to her lightly but there is no doubt she will be the target when this match starts on Sunday. Shayna is the one who I see as crafty and one way or another I can see her being one of the last ones standing and fighting for the briefcase at the top. Whoever does win though they are going to have to go through a lot and on the other side of it The Man will be waiting.
Backstage Segment: Bobby Lashley & Lana
Bobby Lashley prepares backstage for the Last Chance Gauntlet Match as Lana cheers him on.

He tells that he is winning the contract and finally
Mr. Money In The Bank is going to be Phenomenal.
Winner: AJ Styles: Qualifies For MITB
My Opinion:
A very entertaining match, with a huge return of AJ Styles! This should have been Lashley’s match to win but obviously the emotions got the best of him. I still want to see Lashley do something big soon but it just doesn’t seem like things are going his way. I give a lot of credit to Humberto for hanging in this match until the end. He has a huge heart and I do think he is destined for big things. It’s a shame he hasn’t been used that much lately but it’s tough with the circumstances of today. He has a ton of potential and once again he showed he can go out and put on some very physical matches. Obviously, AJ Styles is the winner of this and I love it. Styles is back and from his words, he seems more determined than ever to win this match. Styles is a main event player and the tables have shifted into who will win this match. If you know AJ Styles history you know he isn’t afraid of heights and a ladder match especially a unique one is right up his alley. Styles has to be a favorite to win this now and I do think you will see him pull out anything he has to in order to do so.
In-Ring Segment: Seth Rollins Interview w/ Charly Caruso
Charly thanks Seth for his time and then reminds how his disciple Murphy will face Drew McIntyre tonight. She then asks him for any last-minute predictions. Rollins says whatever is meant to be will be but with that being said he has the utmost confidence in his disciple Murphy. She then asks him to prepare for the WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. He tells her that McIntyre is not a leader and it is not McIntyre’s destiny to lead them into the future, it is his own destiny to do so. He says he is meeting his destiny. He tells that McIntyre will put up a hell of a fight but he will sacrifice himself for the greater good. He says being a champion is being a leader in this ring and representing those who come before and after you. He says Drew is not ready for the agony or despair of what comes with being a champion. He says he is not trying to crush Drew’s dreams or take anything from him but he is trying to save him for the burden. He is trying to save Drew McIntyre and that is the truth. He says he will see his destiny when he stands in this ring with his handheld high the announcement says and New WWE Champion the Monday Night Messiah Seth Rollins!
My Opinion:
Rollins spoke some truth tonight but it seems it might only be his truth. Obviously, there is a lot of meaning behind this for Rollins and maybe that is what he needs to be able to stand toe to toe with McIntyre. Rollins has been some of the best this sport has ever had to offer but he’s facing someone who is on another level right now. Rollins has been the face of Raw before and I think he can be again but it’s going to take more than trying to brainwash everyone to do so. It will be interesting to see Rollins this Sunday and see if he mentally gets in his own way of what he can physically do in the ring.
Backstage Segment: MVP & Shane Thorne & Brendan Vink
MVP comes up to Throne and Vink. he tells them he knows their match is up next but he couldn’t resist one more moment of encouragement. He says great opportunities are made out of great opportunities. Thorne says that’s the scene out of Miracle. They tell they know it’s like to lose to them but they have nothing to lose and they will feel Shane Thorne and all 6’ 5” of Brendan Vink.

They need each other and now he has learned and developed. He says hopefully one day he is on the same level as Seth Rollins or maybe even better. He says they both know that day will come but that’s later, let’s focus on now. He tells how McIntyre almost broke his jaw last week. He finishes by saying he knows Rollins can beat McIntyre and he knows he can beat McIntyre.
Match 2: Cedric Alexander & Ricochet vs Brendan Vink & Shane Thorne

Ricochet now takes it to Thorne. Vink comes in and off of that, he is able to hit Ricochet with a huge boot. He covers and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: Brendan Vink & Shane Thorne
My Opinion:
Wow, what a win for Vink and Thorne! They looked impressive in all their appearances they’ve had so far and tonight they have finally broken through. They definitely did their homework and they were able to keep up with Alexander and Ricochet. This slows the momentum of Alexander and Ricochet and now Vink and Thorne seem to have the momentum. They say you’re only as good as your last match and right now for Vink and Thorne that match will be a huge win. We will see if they can keep this up but they are a good addition to the tag division.
Match 3: The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Ford side-steps Erik to start. The two continue to be at a standoff. Erik then knocks Dawkins off the apron. Ford then is able to take it to Erik in the corner. Ford comes out and goes after Ivar. Ivar then hits the splash. He covers but Ford is able to kick out. Ivar now brings him to his feet but Ford is able to hang him up. Ford looks for a tag and is able to get it even after getting caught. Dawkins comes in heavy with big right hands. He then hits a dropkick. Ford comes in and they try a double team but Ivar is able to fight them off. Erik now tags in and Ivar gets driven into Ford. Erik tries a cover but Ford is able to kick out. Ivar tags in and hits Ford with a knee to the gut.
He lands a snap mare and then another knee to the face. He covers again but Ford stays in it. Ivar now goes to a submission hold and keeps Ford at bay. Ivar backs him into the corner and tags Erik. Erik drives his shoulder into Ford’s gut. Erik now looks for a suplex but Ford fights out. He works a cover but Erik kicks out. Dawkins now tags in. Dawkins hits the exploder and then knocks Ivar out the outside. Dawkins lands a splash and then hits a bulldog. Dawkins now on the outside hits Erik with a jab as he tries to fly to the outside. Dawkins then takes down Ivar on the outside as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Dawkins has Erik in a chin lock on the match. Erik works to his feet and hits Dawkins in the gut. Dawkins is able to back him to the ropes and tag Ford. He then avoids Ford and is able to take him down and send him out of the ring. Ivar covers Dawkins but he is able to kick out. Ivar lifts Dawkins and hits him with a knee. Erik tags in and throws Dawkins into the knee of Ivar. Erik covers but Dawkins kicks out after the knee strikes. Erik goes to a front face lock. Dawkins works to his feet. He is able to fight off Erik and slam him to the mat with a gut wrench suplex. Ford tags in and so does Ivar.
Ford throws everything he has at Ivar. Ivar hangs in there but Ford is able to connect with a kick. Ford tries to lift him but can’t. Ford stays on him and lands an enziguri. Dawkins tags in and they work a double team on Ivar. Dawkins covers but Ivar is able to kick out. Ivar fights back and lands a double back elbow to take down both of the Street Profits. Erik now takes control of Ford. Ford fights back but is met with a forearm. Ivar now tagged in. Dawkins takes down Erik. Ford hits a DDT. Dawkins sets up for the Cash Out. Ford connects. Dawkins covers but then is hit with a huge knee. Erik tags in now. Dawkins tries to fight off Ivar but now he is caught in a two on one. They hit the Viking Experience on Dawkins. Erik covers and gets the 1 2 3 on the cover.
Winners: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
My Opinion:
First off, one heck of a back and forth match between these two teams. Both worked to their strengths and surprisingly Ford and Dawkins made it very tough on such a dominant team. This, however, was a statement for Erik and Ivar. they backed up everything they said and now it seems they are poised for a shot at the titles. I think they lost a little bit of their edge at times in this because they did struggle but ultimately they got the win. Ford and Dawkins will bounce back from this but the question is can they ever prove they have what it takes to beat Erik and Ivar?
Backstage Segment: Drew McIntyre
Charly asks for Drew’s reactions to Murphy’s comments from early saying he knows Seth Rollins can beat him and so can he. Drew says it seems I may have Claymore’d him a little too hard. He tells that Rollins preys on the weak and he picks up Murphy to do his bidding. He says if Rollins is willing to sacrifice his disciple then who am I to deny the people a good old fashioned slaughtering.
Backstage Segment: The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Charly congratulates The Viking Raiders and asks what they owe their success to over the Street Profits. Erik says this isn’t success, this is dominance. Ivar says they have a ton of respect for the Street Profits and he would even say they like them but they are the better team. Erik says the raid was on and they distinguished the smoke.
Backstage Segment: Aleister Black
Black says tell me how it felt AJ, tell all of us how it felt to be buried 6 feet deep all alone in that darkness clawing for a way out being in that darkness. He says it didn’t humble you because you’re talking about throwing me off a building this Sunday. Black says if you somehow manage to throw me off a building this Sunday pray I don’t get up. He says he will climb that ladder and take that Money In The Bank contract and then you will wish you were buried deeper than 6 feet deep.
Backstage Segment: Rey Mysterio
Mysterio says he has been a WWE Superstar long enough to know what to expect before any match with the exception of this Sunday’s MITB ladder match. He tells how it will be at the WWE Headquarters and they will fight from the ground floor to get to the roof and get the briefcase. He says yeah I said roof, one wrong decision, one wrong move and that’s it. He says this is the riskiest match of his career but it’s for a contract for a championship match at any time, anyplace. He says it tells him his career is closer to the end and he doesn’t know how many more championship opportunities he has. He says that the risk is worth the reward.
In-Ring Segment: Charlotte Flair
Flair says she is the hardest working woman in any industry. She tells that ever since she won the NXT Championship for the second time she has been pulling double duty working Mondays and Wednesdays she tells how she will face Io Shirai this Wednesday. She tells how Io won the right to fight her for the title. She then tells how Io said Charlotte Flair was her dream opponent. She says she will be a champion one day. Flair says she is proud of being born with a silver spoon. She says I thought you’d come out here and say I was your dream opponent. She tells Liv that just like Io she will make her bow down to The Queen.

Morgan fights back and works to the ropes. Morgan now lands a drop toe hold and sends Flair into the middle rope. Flair fights back and hits her in the back. Flair now goes up top but Morgan meets her with a shot to the face. Morgan now hits double knees from the top. She covers but Flair kicks out. Morgan tries another cover but again Flair kicks out. Morgan now gets caught looking for oblivion. Flair now works the Figure 4 and turns it into the Figure 8. Morgan taps out.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
My Opinion:
What a fight brought by Liv tonight but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. You can definitely see there is a change in Liv and she is working to be that main event competitor but she has some things to learn. She got caught by Charlotte far too many times and that was her ultimate downfall. Charlotte is a champion over 10 times over and to beat her you have to give more than your best. She showed she is not easy to beat no matter what you throw at her. Liv proved a lot to herself in this one but Charlotte gains the most. Not only does she get this win but she has all the momentum now heading into Wednesday. Io is going to bring one heck of a fight but Charlotte is and has been for a long time on a different level.
Match 5: Drew McIntyre vs Murphy w/ Seth Rollins
The two lock-up and McIntyre is able to push him down. Murphy goes to the outside but quickly comes back in. Murphy tries to fight back but McIntyre runs right through him. He then drives him into the apron and keeps up the attack. McIntyre then throws him over the barricade and onto the concrete floor. McIntyre lifts Murphy and dumps him on the stage. He hits Murphy and then grabs him to hit him in the face once again.
McIntyre sends him into the ring. McIntyre looks at Rollins and this allows Murphy to kick him through the ropes. Murphy sends him into the barricade and then into the ring post. Back in the ring, Murphy hits the Meteora off the top rope. He covers but McIntyre is out at one. Murphy kicks McIntyre in the back. McIntyre gets right up and drops Murphy with a chop. He hits him with another chop as he gets to his feet. Murphy fights back with a quick striking attack. McIntyre comes back with the Glasgow Kiss. McIntyre then taunts Murphy. Murphy gets up and lands a big kick. He then kicks McIntyre in the face. Murphy goes up top but he is hit by McIntyre and he flies to the floor hitting the barricade. McIntyre goes up top and flies off hitting a clothesline. McIntyre now grabs Murphy and brings him up to the second rope. Murphy is able to fight off. He then hits McIntyre with a kick to the face. Murphy then hits a powerbomb. He covers but McIntyre kicks out at 1. Murphy measures McIntyre in the corner. He looks for a Claymore but instead, he is hit with a Claymore by McIntyre. McIntyre covers and gets the 1 2 3.
*** After the match, Rollins comes up to the ring post. McIntyre tells him, let’s do this right now. Rollins stares at him as McIntyre tells him to fight him right now. Rollins drops off the steps and heads up the ramp. McIntyre says what a shock. Rollins then comes out of nowhere as McIntyre is turned around and hits him with a superkick. Rollins tells Drew it is not about him, it is bigger than both of them. Rollins walks over to the championship and picks it up. He then drops it in the corner and looks for a stomp. McIntyre catches him and drops him with a Glasgow Kiss. McIntyre now looks for a Claymore Kick but Rollins sees and is able to retreat out of the ring.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
My Opinion:
McIntyre has proved a point tonight. Even when Murphy thought he had a shot McIntyre took it all on the chin and just kept moving forward. He is in such a state of domination right now that I’m not sure McIntyre can be stopped. He just doesn’t even seem to be affected by anything and is just about dishing punishment. Rollins has done everything to get in the head of McIntyre. He has tried the sneak attacks and tried to put him down but McIntyre won’t stay down. McIntyre clearly is ready for this fight on Sunday and as for Rollins he better change the game plan. McIntyre just doesn’t seem like he can be beaten but I’m very curious to see how far Rollins will go to do so.
Final Thoughts:
Another enjoyable night of Raw! I loved that gauntlet match we saw at the beginning of the show. The return of AJ Styles was awesome and I think he is going to make a huge impact on this MITB Match! It didn’t seem that Aleister or Rey was intimidated by Styles’ comments but Styles will definitely be one to do whatever it takes to win this match. It seems with both the men’s and women’s MITB Matches the time for talking is about over and we are all ready for whatever is to come this Sunday. It will be such a unique match and I cannot wait to see how this plays out for both sides!!! I loved the tag team matches we had tonight as well. We saw a huge win for Vink and Thorne tonight and it was great to see. I loved that fight we saw from Liv Morgan as well. She didn’t win but she is proving to be a key player and hopefully, sometime she will be able to beat a bigger opponent like Charlotte.
Charlotte though is on a wave of momentum and I can’t wait to see her championship match this Wednesday! As I’ve said this Raw Tag Division is getting better and better and there is a ton of competition now! Finally, I loved the dominance of McIntyre in the main event. Rollins has tried to get in his head but nothing works. McIntyre isn’t scared, he isn’t intimidated and ss I said it doesn’t seem like he can be beaten. Rollins is going to have to bring everything he has to have a shot on Sunday. We have watched Rollins work miracles before and I cannot wait to see how he tries to work this one. It is going to be a fight between these two!!! I’m super excited for MITB this Sunday, it sounds so unique and there are a lot of great matches to look forward to! It is going to be something special and one to remember! As Always I wish everyone all the best, stay safe and healthy, and enjoy NXT, SmackDown, and Money In The Bank!!!!!!!
Overall Rating: 7/10
