WWE 205 LIVE REVIEW 01/10/2017
Finally the Cruiserweights have some steam on their own show! Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar fighting over Alicia Fox although a bit lame, it’s been good in-ring wise, plus the returning Neville has been on a roll lately destroying pretty much everyone AND Jack Gallagher has also been entertaining as all hell, so can you not look forward each week? Let’s see what 205 Live has in store for us this week!
WWE brings Smackdown Live to you from the Raising Cane’s River Center at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The show opens up with a video recap of the feud between Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar over Alicia Fox.
1) Cedric Alexander (w/ Alicia Fox) vs. Naom Dar.
In a really good match as you would expect from these two, Noam Dar defeated Alexander by pinfall with a running high kick after Alicia Fox dragged Dar out of the way of a moonsault Alexander was hitting.
After the match, Dar approached Alicia for a hug for Alicia slapped him yet again and Dar walked to the back.
Opinion: Again, it’s just another love triangle angle in wrestling, you can’t go that far o feel too invested in these but when you have this kind of in-ring action, is hard not to take these two seriously.
An Akira Tozawa hype video plays.
Brian Kendrick makes his way to the ring. A video is played recapping the re-debut of Taijiri last week and him spitting his green mist in the face of Kendrick. Kendrick then cut a promo on him and then said to his opponent, Sean Maluta, that if Taijiri beat, he’d be lucky to last 30 seconds with Kendrick.
2) Brian Kendrick vs. Sean Maluta.
In a decent match, Kendrick defeated Maluta by submission with a Captain’s Hook after 5 minutes.
Opinion: The match was somewhat good. Maluta got a lot of offense and Kendrick still is one of the best in the division in every sense.
Backstage, Cedric Alexander is talking to Alicia Fox about her screwing him once again which ultimately led to Cedric breaking up with Fox. Fox then went into crazy mode screaming and moving in such a way you need to watch this segment to understand. Alicia kept screaming “No one breaks up with me” (Apart from Wade Barrett…Total Divas reference).
Opinion: Now that’s how you ruin a storyline! It’s absolutely painful to see Alicia Fox do this, her crazy routine is stupid and she seems like she is not even taking seriously while doing it. It’s frustrating.
Jack Gallagher makes his entrance followed by Ariya Daivari. There was a table in the middle of the ring with a contract. Gallagher said their rivalry had gone too far and it was time for it to end. Daivari said he wasn’t a gentleman and people that fight like one, get stomped. They talked back and forth about Gallagher humiliating Daivari and Daivari having a name to live up to. Gallagher finally explained that the contract was for and “I Forfeit Match” which is and “I Quit Match” but it also ends their rivalry with no rematch. Daivari agreed and threw Gallagher’s umbrella off the ring, Gallagher took his jacket off, said he expected the Queen wasn’t watching and attacked Daivari until referees came down to stop the brawl.
Opinion: Awesome segment! Awesome from both of them! I know Gallagher is winning the match and the feud and I know Gallagher is awesome in himself but I really hope Daivari wins.
Rich Swann and Tony Nese make their entrances.
3) Rich Swann vs. Tony Nese.
In an average match to be honest, Rich Swann defeated Nese by pinfall after his big kick to the head.
After the match, Swann said he’s heard a gargoyle has been calling himself King of the Cruiserweights. Neville came out and said he was a typical American projecting his shortcomings on him, he then said he wouldn’t step foot in the ring if it wasn’t for a Cruiserweight Title match and said he would destroy Swann and become champion at the Royal Rumble to close out the show.
Final Thoughts:
That’s 205 Live! Enjoyable, not as good as other episodes but it was enjoyable. The opening match and Brian Kendrick were really entertaining to watch, the Gallagher-Daivari segment was simply brilliant but the Alicia Fox segment was dreadful. I might rate this show 0 out of 10 just for that segment…But I won’t.
Final Rating: 8.1 out of 10.
