WWE Fastlane 2019 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s Fastlane. Its the last stop before we head into the showcase of immortals, Wrestlemania 35. Wrestlemania being only a few weeks away, we really are in the Fastlane heading to the show of shows. There are championships being defended and stories continuing to be told on this show. There are five championship matches including the Women’s Tag Team titles being defended for the very first time. The big stories going into the show are things such as the Shield potentially reuniting for the last time since and Becky Lynch getting the opportunity to get herself back into the Wrestlemania main event. Lets see how I think its going to play out.
Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade Cien Almas w/ Zelina Vega

This match somehow landed on the pre-show which makes me think the WWE is giving time for the other matches on the card or making sure these random PPVs that aren’t the big four don’t go for 4-5 hours. However, this is really match I think is a main card match on any show. I’m also a little bit more disappointed because I miss the kick-off 90% of the time. Anyway, these two have amazing chemistry and Ive even been able to witness it live when they faced each other here in Vancouver in a house show. I think WWE might have been smart with this one because it makes the kick-off show feel like priority that you cannot miss. I do think these two will tear down the house but I have to go with Andrade as my pick. Rey Mysterio is a made legend and has nothing to lose but Almas has so much to gain by getting the rub from Mysterio with some big wins over him.
Prediction – Andrade “Cien” Almas
Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship
The Usos (C) vs. Shane McMahon & The Miz

This has to be the end of the road for this entire Miz and Shane McMahon friendship right? It was a fun ride and super cool to see them win the tag team titles but this has to be the end of the road. The Usos walking into Wrestlemania as the tag team champions again is great. Plus, the Smackdown tag division needs the focus back on the actual tag teams again in my mind. This means the Usos moving forward to face The Bar, The Hardy Boyz and etc. I’m hoping that Shane McMahon and Miz get into some sort of altercation that leads to their break up and eventual match, so that means my prediction is that the Usos return.
Prediction – The Usos
Women’s Tag Team Championship
The Boss N’ Hug Connection (C) vs. Nia Jax & Tamina
Image via WWE.com
Its the first championship defence for the new and first ever Women’s Tag Team Champions the “Boss N’ Hug Connection” facing off against Nia Jax and Tamina. This won’t be no cake walk for Sasha Banks and Bayley but I do feel like they having something to prove. First thing they have to prove is that they didn’t win those championship’s as a fluke and can be long-term champions. The second thing is that Sasha has to prove that she can successfully defend a championship on the main roster. Every time Salsa has held the women’s championship, she had lost it in her first defence and its become almost a curse for her. Nia Jax and Tamina are future champions in my mind if they stick together as a team but as of right now I’m rooting for Bayley and favourite, Sasha Banks.
Prediction – Sasha Banks & Bayley
Smackdown’s Women’s Championship
Asuka (C) vs. Mandy Rose
Image via WWE.com
If this was a few years ago, I dont think anyone would consider Mandy Rose a threat or ready for Asuka. However, the way Asuka has been booked and an afterthought these past couple of years makes it more believable that Mandy could steal one over the Empress of Tomorrow. Mandy Rose has been on a roll and picking up surprising victory after surprising victory. Although, I dont see her picking up a surprising victory this Sunday. Asuka will walk into Wrestlemania as the Women’s Champion but I dont think its the last time Mandy Rose will be a thorn to her side nor do I think this will be the last time we see Mandy Rose having an Women’s Championship opportunity this year.
Prediction – Asuka
Raw Tag Team Championship
Triple Threat
The Revival (C) vs. Bobby Roode & Chad Gable vs. Aleister Black & Ricochet

This feels like a really random triple threat tag match. Don’t get me wrong, with the talent involved it could be the match of the night or at least the most memorable but still very random. As much as I like Aleister Black and Ricochet, I would hate for them to win this and just randomly be tag champions when I think their presence and debut’s on the main roster could have been so much more impactful. I would hate for them to be tied together as tag team moving forward by winning this match. Chad Gable and Bobby Roode is one of those random tag teams involving two extremely talented guys but just didn’t click at the same level The Bar did when they were randomly put together. I think putting the belts back on them would be pointless. The Revival is the only legitimate tag team in this match and I feel like them winning the belts representing the division was long overdue. With that in my mind, I’m rooting for them to retain the tag team titles.
Prediction – The Revival
Six-Man Tag
The Shield vs. Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley & Drew McIntyre
Image via WWE.com
Its the return of Roman Reigns in actual in-ring action since he’s been back from fighting leukaemia. Its also the “final” Shield reunion as it has been rumoured that Dean Ambrose won’t be resigning with the WWE when his contract ends following Wrestlemania. Once again The Shield is up against a random threesome that was mainly thrown together so The Shield would have three guys to beat. I could care less about Baron Corbin but I do feel for McIntyre and Lashley who both have loads of main event, top spot potential. In the end, The Shield will stand tall one last time as the band is back together for a final time for at least long time hopefully. It will be fun to watch but I really am over these “reunions.”
Prediction – The Shield
Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch
Image via WWE.com
Its Becky Lynch’s chance to get her opportunity back to main event Wrestlemania and to face Ronda Rousey. A match that was taken away from her more than one time. However, the only way she can do that is if she can one again defeat her one time closest friend but also biggest rival in Charlotte Flair. “The Queen” stole the spot from “The Man” and has enjoyed every moment of Becky Lynch looking like a fool trying to get it back. Finally, Becky Lynch will be able let out her frustrations and earn her spot back in the match instead of having to attack Charlotte from behind to make a statement. Charlotte will do whatever it takes to keep it a singles match and kill all this hype “The Man” has. Although, the wild card here is Ronda Rousey who also wants to get her hands on Becky Lynch and has claimed many times that she wants Becky in the match. This leaves me to believe that Ronda Rousey will appear and help Becky win confirming the triple threat main event at Wrestlemania.
Prediction – Becky Lynch
WWE Championship
Daniel Bryan (C) vs. Kevin Owens
Image via WWE.com
KO is back and I couldn’t be happier to see Mr. Entertainment back on my television screen. It is weird seeing him playing a more babyface role and I still got to get use to him using the Stunner as his finisher but I am glad to see him back. Daniel Bryan will be defending his WWE Championship against KO even though everyone including Bryan thought he would be facing Kofi Kingston at this event. I feel like similar to the women’s match between Becky and Charlotte, Kofi Kingston is the wild card here. Somehow, we need to get to Kofi Kingston being the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania. Whether its Kofi himself or somebody else that screws KO from winning the championship, I still strongly believe we are getting Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania in some form because #KofiMania is strong and well. Therefore, I pick Bryan retaining the championship.
Prediction – Daniel Bryan
