WWE Money in the Bank 2017 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s Money in the Bank. Hands down, one of my favourite events of the year. The ladder match has always been one of my favourite concepts since its inception for Wrestlemania 21. Once the annual Wrestlemania match became its own PPV, it slowly became one of my favourite events of the year. There has been more than a fair share amount of historic moments and unforgettable memories coming from the Money in the Bank event in its short history. There were memorable cash-in’s during the same night, unforgettable angles taking place and amazing matches. I think this years event will be no different. The fact that the first ever Women’s MITB ladder match is on this card already gives this event extra historic credibility. Lets get to my predictions so we can dive in deeper into the matches for this Smackdown Exclusive PPV.
WWE Women’s Championship
Naomi (C) vs. Lana

If you asked me a month ago if I thought Lana would be facing the Smackdown Women’s Champion at the next Smackdown PPV. I wouldn’t have believed you. If anything I would have expected her to have made her debut already but not think she’d be the number one contender right away. A lot of people are already judging Lana’s wrestling ability although many have us havent even seen her wrestle an entire match yet. I know for a fact that Lana has been working many NXT live shows and training, so I can only assume she must have some moves if they trust her enough to put her in this spot. I mean her sudden rise straight to the top may be for many reason. For example, she could be the replacement for the plans Smackdown writers originally had for Eva Marie or for the fact that Emmalina’s character failed so they decided to try something similar using Lana. It also could be because they needed someone for Naomi to defend against since most of the other women are involved in the ladder match. Naomi is now a two time Women’s Champion after being forced to relinquish it only to win it back in her hometown at Wrestlemania. It’s only been two months since Wrestlemania and I’m not a huge fan of titles changing hands that often. As much as I think it would be mind blowing and interesting to see Lana as champion, for the long term booking purposes I see Naomi retaining. Hopefully it ends in a count out or by DQ because I don’t want to see Lana lose clean in her first match.
Prediction – Naomi
WWE Tag Team Championship
The Usos (C) vs. The New Day

This seems like the PPV where the people who decided to finally debut on Smackdown after the superstar shake up automatically get championship title shots. First Lana…and now The New Day. Smackdown really is the land of opportunities. I know we have seen the Usos’ face The New Day before but this is a totally different now with the Usos’ being the bad guys and The New Day being the good guys. Also, Jimmy and Jey arent just heels now but they have a whole new attitude and persona since the last time these two teams faced off. The New Day also took a brief hiatus from television while Kofi recovered from an injury which gave the fans a break from popular trio. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and I think that was the case with The New Day because I sure missed them while they were gone. They’ve been featured so much the last year or so, it felt weird without them around. Due to those circumstances this feels fresh and new. I miss the inclusion of Breezango in this title picture but I’m sure they’ll be on Fashion Polics investigation duty at MITB. As much as I love the Uso’s as the tag team champions, a part of me feels like The New Day somehow picks up the win and begins their term as the Smackdown tag team champions.
Prediction – The New Day
Ladder Match
Money In The Bank
Charlotte vs. Natalya vs. Becky Lynch vs. Tamina vs. Carmella

Six women, infinite number of ladders and one briefcase with a contract in it that guarantees them a Smackdown Women’s Championship match whenever they please. This is the first time the women are getting their own Money in the Bank opportunity. I don’t think they’ll let us down. If there was concern that the women don’t get the same opportunties as the men in the WWE the last two years proved that the WWE has changed their ways. First the first ever Women’s Hell in a Cell match last October and now this. Plus multiple first ever main event matches and main event matches with stipulations on both Raw and Smackdown for the Women’s Division. This is proof that the Women’s Evolution is still going strong. In my mind it has been going stronger on the Smackdown brand than it has on the Raw brand. The women involved in this match are all deserving to win and super talented. I feel like we’re going to get some awesome moments in this match as well. Could we get a Charlotte moonsault off the ladder? Will James Ellsworth take the hardest bump of the night? I can’t even imagine what else these girls will do to make this match memorable. I feel like the winner of this match is going to be someone I least expect it to be. Charlotte or Becky Lynch would be the most popular predictions and I wouldn’t be disappointed if either one of them go over. Natalya and Tamina would be surprising winners and I could see that happening. However my gut is telling me that somehow Carmella is going to win the match and we’re going to see James Ellsworth carrying the briefcase for the next little while…you know until she cashes it in.
Prediction – Carmella
Ladder Match
Money in the Bank
Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin

The talent in this match is unbelievable. Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Baron Corbin are all in this one match fighting over one golden opportunity for a championship title shot whenever they please. For the first time in a long time, every single person in the match has the potential on winning and being Mr. Money in the Bank. Therefore, I guess I’m going to have to put my booker hat on and try to figure out who will benefit from holding the briefcase the most in the long run. The first person I would rule out from winning is one of my current favourite superstars on the roster and the Face of America, Kevin Owens. I mean he’s the current United States Champion, doesn’t need a briefcase to earn a championship shot and currently in rivalries with AJ Styles and Chris Jericho. The next person I would rule out would be Dolph Ziggler. The guy is a magnificent wrestler with all the traits of a champion and is going to do his part to make this match a show stealer like he always does but I think after trying time and time again, the writers are done with the Dolph Ziggler experiment for now. I could be wrong. I wouldn’t be disappointed if Ziggler won but I need to rule people out and he’d be next on my list. The next person I would rule out is AJ Styles. Yes, I said AJ Styles. I want the “Phenomenal One” to get his long overdue title shot as much as the next guy but I don’t think he needs the briefcase to earn it. If it was heel Styles we were dealing with, I could see that being the case but I don’t think we’re going to see that with babyface Styles. Plus he still has business to attend to with Kevin Owens. I’d rule out Baron Corbin next just because I don’t think he’s reached that level yet. However, with the rise of Jinder Mahal it proves that anything is possible on Smackdown Live, thats why I think he’s more likely to win over the three I already mentioned. Although, I still think Corbin has a lot to prove before moving up on the card. This leaves me with Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn. Shinsuke not winning in a ladder match doesn’t hurt him and unless he was going to win it to cash it in the same night I wouldn’t want to see it. How much less majestic would Nakamura’s entrance be if he had to carry a briefcase with him. Therefore that leaves me with Sami Zayn. Nothing would validate Smackdown Live as the land of opportunity more than Sami Zayn becoming Mr. Money in the Bank. It’s also the perfect way to sneak Zayn into the Championship picture. I predict Sami Zayn walks out this Sunday as Mr. Money in the Bank.
Prediction – Sami Zayn
WWE Championship
Jinder Mahal (C) vs. Randy Orton
Image via WWE.com
“The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal defends the WWE Championship for the first time in a rematch against Randal Keith Orton in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis. “The Viper” is looking bring down the Maharaja’s kingdom with one RKO on his home turf. Mahal claims he defanged The Viper to got rid of his venom and wants to embarrass him in front of his hometown crowd which includes his family and friends. Its quite the story when you look at it like that. Jinder Mahal has grown since being champion. Over the weeks his character has really developed. He has a new attitude, sense of confidence and his mannerisms have changed into one who truly believes that it is his time. Randy Orton wants to prove that Jinder Mahal is all talk and with his actions he is going to prove that the Maharaja’s victory was a fluke and that he’s a fraud. Jinder Mahal will have the Singh Brothers at his side again, once again winning in the number games against Orton whereas Orton will have his family and friends at ringside there to support him. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were to see “Cowboy” Bob Orton featured on screen a few times during this match. In reality I feel like Randal wants to put Jinder Mahal over and that they might actually get along well behind the scenes. I feel like if Jinder loses the championship already it really does make his reign seem like a fluke which doesnt help him in the long run. If Mahal finds a way to overcome Orton this Sunday, people will have no choice but to deal with it. I think this match could be better than most people expect, and I see Jinder Mahal with the help of the Singh Brothers defeating Randy Orton again but this time in Orton’s own backyard. Jinder Mahal reigns supreme…until WWE’s resident Superman, John Cena returns.
Prediction – Jinder Mahal

I doubt Sami Zayn will win the contract.
Lana vs. Naomi: Lana wins and Carmella or Charlotte cashes in and wins
Usos vs. New Day: New day win and attempt to beat their reigning record
Jinder vs. Randy: Jinder wins; making him face John Cena at the next SD PPV
Women’s money in the bank: Carmella or Charlotte
Men’s money in the bank: Styles, Dolph, Nakamura, or Sami
I agree with all except MITB. I think it will be BC walking out with it
