WWE Stomping Grounds 2019 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is “The Wrestling Classic” Justin here with my predictions for this Sundays Stomping Grounds PPV. This is the first ever Stomping Grounds PPV as the WWE experiments with PPV names again like they did with “Great Balls of Fire” in 2017. This event will be taking place at the Tacoma Dome, so as of right now I am supposed to be there live in attendance since its two hours away from my house. If any of you are going, be sure to say hello. The card is alright and I don’t really have high hopes for the show. Most of the time when I dont have high hopes for a show, it ends up exceeding my expectations. We’re in the weird period post Money in the Bank but before Summerslam, where I feel wrestling fans are drained with WWE content. It’s almost like this would be the perfect time for an off-season but of course we know wrestling doesn’t have one. Regardless of the state of the WWE currently, lets get to my predictions.
Smackdown Tag Team Championship
Daniel Bryan & Erick Rowen vs. Heavy Machinery

The “New” Daniel Bryan and Erick Rowen face off against Heavy Machinery defending their Smackdown Tag Team Championships. Bryan and Rowen have made it clear that they want to start a revolution for tag team wrestling and the tag division. Heavy Machinery have been on the roster for a few months now but mainly have been just having fun and joking around, especially big Otis. I think this match is to really just establish the feud. Therefore, I do think these two teams will be meeting more than this one time. With that in mind, I think Bryan and Rowen retain forcing Tucker to try to get Otis to be more serious. I’m still waiting for the new planet friendly tag team titles by the way.
Prediction – Daniel Bryan & Erick Rowen
The New Day vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
Image via WWE.com
This is one of those matches that is only possible because of the wildcard rule. The New Day have had their issues with Zayn and Owens for weeks now. A matter of fact, the champions of both shows have had issues with Owens and Zayn but the difference with Kofi Kingston is that he has two brothers who have his back. Considering that this Big E’s first big match back my gut is saying that The New Day picks up the victory. However, Owens and Zayn have been getting the short end of the stick a lot as of late and I am personally rooting for them to pick up the victory by doing whatever it takes to steal the win.
Prediction – Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
WWE United States Championship
Samoa Joe (C) vs. Ricochet
Image via WWE.com
Samoa Joe was awarded back his United States Championship after Rey Mysterio was forced to relinquish the championship due to injury and looking back at the controversial finish of the match in which Mysterio won the belt in. Ricochet won a fatal four way match on Raw to earn the opportunity to challenge for the championship. Joe is forced to face off against another highflying speedster but this time, one that is a lot younger but less experienced. As cool as it would be to see Ricochet win the championship, I’m rooting for Joe to retain to make him one of the most dominating United States Champions. Therefore, when someone does finally beat him, it’ll mean something.
Prediction – Samoa Joe
Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre
Image via WWE.com
Its a Wrestlemania rematch between Drew Mcintyre and Roman Reigns but hopefully this time the right man wins. This feud continues since the wildcard rule allows it too. However, this time the tables are stacked against Reigns a lot more than they were before because he also has to watch his back from Shane McMahon and his other henchmen which includes Elias and The Revival. Thus far we’ve seen Reigns find ways to overcome the odds over and over again, including this past Monday on Raw. Although, we’ve also seen him caught off guard but the numbers such as when he lost to Shane McMahon in Saudi Arabia at the Super Showdown event. I personally felt like McIntyre should have gone over at Wrestlemania but I understand it was Roman’s first singles match since returning after fighting cancer. The story is different now and it is the Scottish Psychopath’s time to beat the Big Dog to raise his stock in the company as a top guy.
Prediction – Drew McIntyre
Raw Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (C) vs. Lacey Evans
Image via WWE.com
Lacey Evans again its the opportunity to face Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship. There was no reason why other than she has been a thorn in Lynch’s side consistently. Becky Lynch also wants retribution on Evans for costing her the Smackdown Women’s Championship by hitting her with a Women’s Right during her match with Charlotte Flair. This made “Becky Two Belts” become Becky one belt. I will admit that the Becky Lynch hype and momentum has really seemed to have mellowed down. The whole movement behind “The Man” doesn’t seem as hot as it did at the beginning of the year. I really do believe there is some merit behind there being more excitement with the babyface chasing the championship against a strong heel than actually being champion. I know it might be really early but why not let Lacey win the belt and have Becky be forced to chase it again? Maybe it’ll bring that momentum back. Let Lacey cheat or do something nasty to win it but lets mix things up a little.
Prediction – Lacey Evans
Smackdown Women’s Championship
Bayley (C) vs. Alexa Bliss
Image via WWE.com
Bayley defends her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Raw’s Alexa Bliss, once again due to the wildcard rule that completely makes the brand split seem irrelevant. They have tried to make this personal with its quick build-up in the last couple of weeks. Alexa Bliss has been convincing her new best friend Nikki Cross and anyone else who will listen that Bayley isn’t as nice as she is made out to be. Bayley thinks Alexa is using Nikki Cross just like she’s used her friends in the past using Mickie James and Nia Jax as examples. I can totally s Alexa Bliss winning this match with the help of Nikki Cross but I feel like it would be way too early for Bayley to drop the belt, especially to a Raw star. I almost feel like Alexa and Nikki will be going for the Women’s tag titles soon anyway. Boy would this be a great time Sasha to make a return to even the odds but then challenge Bayley. Of course that isn’t going to happen.
Prediction – Bayley
Steel Cage
WWE Championship
Kofi Kingston (C) vs. Dolph Ziggler
Image via WWE.com
Kofi Kingston faces off against Dolph Ziggler again. This time to make sure there aren’t any distractions or New Day members at ringside ruining Ziggler’s opportunity, this match will be contested in a steel cage. Ziggler continues to preach to anyone who will listen that it should have been him and not Kofi Kingston who had this amazing run which led to Kingston winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. Kingston continues to be a fighting champion with the desire to prove that he was destined to be the WWE Champion. These two have fought over almost every championship in the WWE and put on great matches most of the time. This is the first time they’ll be meeting in a steel cage and I’m looking forward to it. I dont see Ziggler winning the championship and Kofi continuing his reign to at least Summerslam. That is only if The Beast Incarnate doesn’t decide to cash in on Kofi.
Prediction – Kofi Kingston
Universal Championship
Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin
Image via WWE.com
Seth Rollins faces off against Baron Corbin once again. This time there will be a special referee and Rollins has made it his duty to beat up anyone who offers to fill the role to Baron Corbin brutally with a steel chair. The special referee has yet to be announced, creating some level of excitement for this Sunday to find out who it will be. It also leaves us all curious if it will be someone who will help Corbin win the Universal Championship with bias reffing. The obvious predictions would be that either Brock Lesnar or Paul Heyman come out to be the special referee this Sunday to add further stress to Rollins that Brock might just cash in. However. that would also have to leave Corbin worried because if he wins under those circumstances, then Brock could just cash-in on him too. Regardless, on how all of this plays out this Sunday, nobody wants to see Corbin as the Universal Champion so I have to predict that Rollins retains.
Prediction – Seth Rollins

*Scottish psychopath. Not that I like McIntyre, but cmon, get their nationalities right. I’d care if I were him.
?
Brock would be a very intriguing ref but the only problem is why would Corbin choose him ? I’d think he’d want to choose someone that may call the match in his favor. I have a guess and it’s not a “sexy pick” but I feel like Corey Graves makes the most sense. We hear Graves sing Corbin’s praises week in and week out and has said they are close in real life. I recall him saying he was in Corbin’s wedding, ir the other way around.
