Raw comes to us from the SAP Center in San Jose, California
Raw kicks off with us being welcomed by Michael Cole, Renee Young, and Corey Graves
In Ring Segment: Seth Rollins
Rollins tells the crowd he feels alive tonight because we have entered a new era for the Universal Title. He tells the Raw locker room if they want it they can try to take it from him, try to fight him, or try it the hard way. He then tells them to ask Brock Lesnar how that plays out. Rollins tells that no one has done to Lesnar what he did to him on Friday. He tells that it felt pretty damn good to lay the chair into Lesnar over and over. Here comes BaronCorbin.
The crowd boo’s Corbin and he tells them the feeling is mutual. He then tells them he will wait. He asks them if he can finish and they get louder. Corbin tells the San Jose crowd he is the best thing they have going on. He then tells Rollins he needs to worry about him and not Lesnar. He proclaims that after stomping Grounds he will be the new Universal Champion and he will worry about Brock Lesnar. Rollins asks him how Super ShowDown went. Corbin blames the loss on the ref. Corbin tells today he has been in meetings and the ref from their match will be punished, plus he gets his rematch. He then tells Rollins there will be a special guest referee in their match and he gets to hand pick the official. Rollins tells him it doesn’t matter how he picks he is still going to be champion. Rollins then asks him who the referee is going to be. Rollins talks about how no one likes Baron Corbin, then out comes Sami Zayn.
Zayn says he is on team Corbin. He tells Rollins he has known him for a long time and he cares about him. He tells Rollins he has watched his behavior and claims being Universal Champion is not good for Rollins. He claims Rollins is in a swirl of masculinity and tells him it would be better for Rollins if Corbin was Universal Champion. He then says it would be better for everyone because there might finally be a Universal Champion who isn’t obsessed with Brock Lesnar. Rollins questions what’s in this for Zayn. Zayn says Corbin understands if someone helps him out then he will help them out. Rollins questions who will have Zayn’s back when he comes up there and slaps the taste out of his mouth. Here comes Kevin Owens.
Owens says he has his back. He then tells he agrees that Baron Corbin would be a better Universal Champion. He then tells Rollins he doesn’t agree with how he is talking to his friend. Rollins tells him to come do something about. Owens says maybe he will. Rollins then proposes the match for the main event tonight.
My Opinion:
Rollins continues to be a fighting champion and I love seeing this. Rollins is doing great and doing his best to make the title mean something. I like the match with him and Owens tonight, it’s something we haven’t seen in a while and they are two guys who can really test each other. Also, Corbin and Rollins should have a good match in two weeks. Corbin really helps with Rollins because the crowd hates him and therefore they get behind Rollins. It’ll be interesting though to see when Brock Lesnar comes back into the picture.
Backstage Segment:
Lars Sullivan gets himself pumped up for his match coming up next.
Match 1: Lars Sullivan vs The Lucha House Party: 3 on 1 Elimination Match
Kalisto hits Sullivan with chops and then flies hitting him with a dropkick. Sullivan is able to catch him and slam him. Sullivan gets the 1 2 3 and eliminates him. Dorado comes in and tries to chop down Sullivan. He then flies and is caught. Sullivan hits the running powerbomb and gets the 1 2 3. Dorado is eliminated. Metalik comes in and hits him with chops. Metalik tries to use his quickness but is caught off the ropes. Sullivan plants him and goes for the cover but picks up Metalik instead of winning the match. Sullivan goes to the outside and grabs Kalisto, he then plants him on the steel steps. Sullivan gets back into the ring and plants Metalik. Once again Sullivan picks him up at 2. He goes to the outside and grabs Dorado this time. He then bounces Dorado off the ring post. Sullivan then goes to the top rope and hits Metalik with a headbutt. He finally pins him for the 1 2 3.
Winner: Lars Sullivan
My Opinion:
A very dominating win for Sullivan. After last Friday this is what he needs to get him on track of his destruction once again. Sullivan did well in just overpowering these guys and showing he doesn’t necessarily care about wins but instead just hurting people. I’m curious to see when this feud will end for him and where he will go from here. He is a big guy so it’ll be hard for him to get into the thick of things unless they really want to push him and make him a top guy because he can’t lose much or he will lose the magic of his destruction.
Backstage Segment:
R-Truth and Carmella start running trying to get away from members of the locker room. They go into an elevator with some of the guys and leave the rest behind. In the elevator, he and Carmella are with drake Maverick, Heath Slater, EC3, and Cedric Alexander.
Exclusive Interview: Lacey Evans & Becky Lynch
Cole asks Lynch about the things she has gone through with Lynch. Evans cuts off Cole and says lady’s go first. Lynch stops her and tells how Evans should beat her on paper but she can’t allow her to win because she can allow her to be the template. Evans says she has done everything she had to in order to get to where she is. Lynch tells Evans it’s not her position, it’s the fact she cost her the title. She tells Evans she is relentless. Evans tells Lynch she is fooling her and The Man is just a mask. She tells Lynch that she believes Lynch is driven by fear and says at Stomping Grounds the fear will come true because she is taking the title. Lynch tells her she is gonna fear when she gets slapped. Evans says she is done with her.
My Opinion:
The batter between these two needs to get spiced up. It’s the same spiel over and over and hopefully, it’ll change. They face once again in two weeks but to me, Evans needs to ramp up the character. I know what she is trying to do but it doesn’t mix well with Becky. It’s a weird pair to me but hopefully, Becky retains and moves on to a new challenger that can match the intensity.
Backstage Segment:
Bliss tells Cross that she is now the #1 contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She then tells Cross how Bayley is a master manipulator. She tells Cross she knows the real Bayley and tells her how Bayley was so awful to her in NXT and made her feel bad for how she got her. She tells Cross you can only pretend to be something for so long until someone sees through it. Cross asks her what she is now. Bliss tells her she is her friend and she can just be Lexi. she asks Cross if she forgives her and if she’ll be in her corner. Cross tells her, let’s play.
In Ring Segment: Miz TV
Miz tells his guest is a bulldozer, he is WWE’s version of Godzilla, he then welcomes the new U.S. Champion Samoa Joe. Here comes Joe. Joe says Mysterio stole the championship and he won it back. Miz then questions this and shows the video from last week. Miz tells how Mysterio relinquished the title due to injury and tells how Mysterio even said that Joe’s shoulder wasn’t on the mat. He questions why Joe attacked Mysterio. Joe doesn’t have anything to say but so. Miz tells Joe involving a man’s family is one you don’t cross. Joe says when it comes to getting titles there is no cross he won’t cross. He then tells Miz if you want to get into crossing lines maybe he’ll talk about his family. Here comes Braun Strowman.
Braun tells Joe to stop the talking and to get these hands. As Braun gets into the ring out comes Bobby Lashley. Lashley asks Braun if he is gonna try to move on. He tells Braun he is not done with him. He then tells Joe he is the one who deserves a shot at the championship. Ricochet then comes out.
Ricochet says after his two victories over Cesaro he wants to step up and win his first championship. Cesaro the interrupts. Cesaro comes out and hits Ricochet. A fight breaks out in the ring as well. The lines are drawn with Ricochet, Miz, and Strowman standing tall.
My Opinion:
I really enjoyed Joe during this, he crosses lines but that’s him and it’s awesome. It’s gonna be interesting to see who will step up and get the title shot, there’s a lot of guys deserving but Joe seems to be on another level right now. Joe is ready to destroy and we will see if anyone can stop him.
Match 2: Samoa Joe & Bobby Lashley & Cesaro vs. The Miz & Ricochet & Braun Strowman
Lashley works the wrist of Strowman but Strowman is able to kick up and break the hold. Strowman hits him with a clothesline and takes Lashley down. Miz tags in and Strowman throws him into Lashley. Miz then fights off Lashley with a boot but Miz is taken down by Joe off the distraction. Joe comes in and hits a series of strikes on Miz. Joe knocks down Miz and tags Cesaro. Cesaro goes to a chin lock on Miz. Miz hits him with elbows and is able to get away. Ricochet comes in and takes it to Cesaro and then Joe and Lashley. Ricochet flies off the ropes and takes down Cesaro. He then takes down Lashley again. Ricochet is able to send Cesaro flying. Cesaro goes to the outside but is then taken down by Ricochet as he flies over the ropes and lays him out on the floor as Raw goes to break.
As Raw return, Cesaro works Ricochet on the mat. Ricochet gets out and is able to flip Cesaro and hook the cover. Cesaro kicks out. On the outside, Ricochet is taken care of by the newly tagged Lashley. Ricochet is able to hit Lashley with an enziguri and then drive Lashley into the corner. Miz gets the tag and takes down Lashley. He is able to hit Lashley with the IT Kicks in the corner and follow with double knees. He then hits him with clotheslines in the corner. Lashley overpowers Miz and gets him in the corner. Miz gets out and hits a DDT. he then hits a DDT on Cesaro. He then hits the IT Kicks on Cesaro and Lashley. Lashley is able to grab Miz and plant him face first. Joe gets the tag and hits a senton. Joe goes for the cover but Strowman breaks it up. Cesaro tags in and grabs the face of Miz. Miz hits a jawbreaker and tries to create space. On the outside, Strowman takes out Lashley. Cesaro grabs Miz in the ring and hits the swing. Cesaro then locks in the sharpshooter but Ricochet breaks it up with knees to the face. Miz tags Strowman in and he runs over Cesaro. He then crushes him in the corner. Cesaro goes to the outside and once more he is run over by Strowman. Back in the ring Strowman hits a clothesline in the corner. He then knocks Cesaro to the mat and goes for the cover but Joe breaks it up. Joe attacks him but Strowman is able to get the advantage. Joe gets away from him and runs from ringside with the title. Strowman is taken out by Lashley on the outside. Cesaro hits an uppercut on Miz in the ring. Cesaro tries the neutralizer but can’t hit. Miz hits the skull crushing finale on Cesaro and tags Ricochet. Ricochet hits the 630 and gets the 1 2 3 and the win for his team.
Winners: The Miz & Ricochet & Braun Strowman
My Opinion:
I like this match, it was very fast paced and could have gone either way. I was surprised that Joe ran out of the ring the way he did but all five men in there could be potential opponents so there was no need for him to stick around. For Miz, Ricochet, and Strowman they all made cases for why they should be potential challengers to Joe because they were all on their game tonight. On a side note hopefully, Cesaro is okay after Ricochet landing hard on him.
Backstage Segment:
Charly asks Corbin if he has made a decision on who will be the ref. Corbin says not yet, he has two weeks so there is no rush. He tells he is gonna find someone who is fair and unbiased and good at their job. He then tells Charly so that means she is out. Sami comes up to Corbin and asks if he can talk to him.
Match 3: Becky Lynch & Bayley vs Lacey Evans & Alexa Bliss w/ Nikki Cross
Bayley picks up Bliss and drives her into the corner. Bayley hits a sliding forearm and goes for the cover but Bliss kicks out. Bliss is able to turn things around and drop Bayley on the mat but it doesn’t keep Bayley down. Bliss taunts Bayley and tags Evans. Evans takes it to Bayley and tries a cover but can’t get the three. She tries another cover but still, Bayley kicks out. Bayley finally is able t make a tag to Lynch. Lynch lays into Evans but Lynch stops the momentum with a kick. Bliss tags in and can’t keep Lynch down. Lynch hits her with a forearm and gets in control. Evans has to save Bliss but on the outside, Bayley takes out Evans. Lynch helps out with Bliss as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, bliss hits Lynch with knees to the midsection. Lynch is able to get out of the way and hit an enziguri on Bliss. Evans gets the tag and stops Lynch from making one herself. Evans then drives her chin into the forehead of Lynch. Evans locks in a modified half nelson and keeps her grounded on the mat. Lync is able to break the hold but is sent face first off the turnbuckle. Evans then hits a version of the bronco buster in the corner. Evans goes for the cover but Lynch kicks out. Evans takes out Bayley and continues the assault on Bayley. Lynch is able to send Evans to the outside and then take her down on the floor with a baseball slide through the ropes. Evans gets back in the ring and continues to keep Lynch away from Bayley. Evans hits a swinging neck breaker and falls into the cover but once again Lynch kicks out. Evans drags Lynch into the corner. Evans flies but Lynch moves out of the way. Finally, Bayley gets the tag but so does Bliss. Bayley takes it to Bliss in the corner and then lands a big kick. Bayley rolls up Lynch and Bliss hits hard in the turnbuckle. Evans breaks up the pin. Evans is able to hit Lynch with the Women’s Right. She then gives one to Bayley. Bliss then goes for the twisted Bliss but Bayley gets the knees up. Evans made a tag and comes in to hit a Women’s Right. She gets the 1 2 3 on the cover of Bayley.
Winners: Lacey Evans & Alexa Bliss
My Opinion:
I was super impressed by Evans in the ring. She really left it all out there tonight and carried her team. She laid out Lynch and Bayley and got the win for her team. Maybe Lynch should be a little worried because Evans is proving she can get the job done in the ring. Lynch and Bayley just didn’t seem like they clicked as much as Bliss and Evans. Momentum was with Bliss and Evans and it carried throughout the match.
Backstage Segment:
Sami Zayn tells Sahne McMahon that maybe tonight he could be the referee for Rollins and Owens tonight. He tells Shane is slippery with him and Reigns. He tells Shane he could start small and be on the outside. Shane says he can be the outside referee and call things down the middle.
In Ring Segment:
Heyman says he is disturbed by the level of animosity between Rollins and Lesnar. He tells how Lesnar didn’t cash in last week and took the position that he could cash in any day but can beat down Rollins every day. He then tells how Rollins put a beat down on Lesnar with a steel chair and how he came out here and bragged about it. Heyman questions why the fans cheer for him and calls Rollins a thug. He tells that with that beating Rollins granted Lesnar is still gonna be Mr. Money In The Bank. He tells Rollins they no longer are going to tell him when they cash in. He then goes on about all the places Lesnar could show up. He even brings up that maybe Lesnar could the special guest referee at Stomping Ground or maybe not. He then says Lesnar could put another beating on Rollins that violates the pg era and then take the title from Rollins. He says that is a threat, a promise, and a guarantee from Lesnar.
My Opinion:
I hope Heyman’s words hold true because the most exciting thing will be if Lesnar comes out of nowhere to cash in. that’s what made the cash in’s so exciting and that’s how it should be. I can’t imagine Lesnar would not win on his cash in so it may just be a matter of time before he is champion again. SummerSlam is around the corner so you have to imagine there is a good chance this cash in would come sooner than later.
Backstage Segment:
R-Truth continues to argue with the other wrestler’s as they are stuck in the elevator. Carmella tries to restore order.
Match 4: The Iconics
*** Before the match The Iconic’s remind everyone they are the longest reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions. They say they demanded competition so they brought in San Jose’s finest tonight. They say that these women will never be them. They put it simpler for the crowd and say they will never be champions just like the San Jose Sharks won’t be the Stanley Cup Champions.
Kay starts the match and goes right o work knocking her opponent down and follows with a series of kicks. Royce comes in and they pose on her. Royce goes to work and continues to hammer away. Kay comes back in and they work a double team. Kay goes for the cover and gets the 1 2 3.
Winners: The Iconics
My Opinion:
The Iconics get a win tonight but I feel so bad for them. They used more as comedy now and the tiles not being defended are their gimmicks now and it’s sad. These two could really have great matches and show what a tag team can do but they have nothing for them. It’s like those titles came into existence to make people happy and then they were forgotten and forgotten bad. It really wouldn’t be hard to put together challenger’s for them and put on a match but it is what it is. They better do something soon because it’s becoming a joke and it has to change.
Backstage Segment:
R-Truth, Carmella, and the other SuperStars are still stuck in the elevator.
In Ring Segment: Shane McMahon & Drew Mcintyre Celebration
Shane says growing up in WWE you see a lot of special things and when something special comes along you take notice. He says Roman Reigns is that something special and future Hall Of Famer. He says Reigns hits like a mule and then goes into Roman Reigns accolades in the WWE. Shane tells how Reigns is one of the rare few to have a victory over Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. He then reminds everyone that Reigns doesn’t have a victory over him. He tells how Reigns best was not enough to beat The Best In The World. He then gives it up for Drew Mcintyre for helping him prepare. He tells Mcintyre that it was his emotional support that helped him beat Reigns. He then says he can’t imagine what will happen at Stomping Grounds. Mcintyre says Reigns is the measuring stick and when he loses it turns head. He tells that at Stomping Grounds he is just gonna beat Roman but he is going to hurt him, maim him, and humiliate him. He then proclaims he is the most dangerous and that he owns Reigns. He tells him he will assault him until he is unrecognizable and at that point, he will beat him 1 2 3. He then tells Mcintyre that need to celebrate. They then pop the champagne and celebrate. Shane tells that show must go on. He then brings out The Revival. Shane tells The Revival they can’t have any drinks because their match is up next but if they win they can come to the party.
My Opinion:
This is what I expected from the segment. It didn’t get too crazy but Shane got his zings in and Mcintyre made his statement. The rivalry with Reigns has been a good one but we will see if it carries on pass Stomping Grounds. Reigns will eventually have to move on from them but this keeps it safe for now since they don’t have a title for Reigns to go for at the moment.
Backstage Segment:
Charly asks Hawkins and Ryder if the clock is close to striking midnight on their title reign. Ryder says they have been through it all but they are always ready no matter what. Hawkins says they are the champions and it’s not midnight yet.
Match 5: Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins (C) vs The Revival vs The Usos:
Raw Tag Team Championship Match
Dawson kicks Ryder and then hits him in the back. He gets him in the corner and tags Wilder. They double team Ryder but he fights out. Jey then comes in and he and Ryder lock up. Jey works the arm of Ryder but he reverses and is able to plant Jey. Jey kicks out of the cover. Hawkins comes in and he and Ryder double team Jey. Dawson grabs Jey from in the ring and throws him into the barricade. They then take out Hawkins as well as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Hawkins is able to break free from Dawson and takes him down off the ropes. Wilder gets the tag and stops Hawkins from getting the tag. Dawson comes in and they try a double team but Hawkins fights off and makes a tag. The Usos take everyone out and then try a pin in the ring but Dawson kicks out. He hits another on Ryder and he goes to the top. Jey hits a splash but Dawson tags in. Dawson steals the cover and Wilder holds Jey. Dawson gets the 1 2 3 and The Revival win the gold.
Winners: The Revival: New Raw Tag Team Champions
My Opinion:
Huge victory for The Revival becoming the new tag champs. They did it in classic Revival fashion and I loved it. I think they are a great tag team and they deserve the titles. Plus this could set up for Mcintyre to win a title and Shane could have a power faction. I think this shakes things up a lot and I love it. Hawkins and Ryder just weren’t used well as champions and it’s better the belts are off of them and can go to a team that hopefully will get more time to shine on tv and defend the titles on PPV’s.
Backstage Segment:
Charly asks Rollins about Zayn being out there tonight. Rollins says he is ready for anything. He says he is ready for Lesnar, he’ll be ready for Corbin, and he is ready for Sami and Kevin tonight.
Backstage Segment:
Everyone tries to gives Drake Maverick advice on his upcoming weddings. They all then share a moment about how they are all alike. The elevator opens and the guys on the outside go after Truth and Carmella pulls him into the elevator to save him and the title.
*** New Firefly Fun House Segment

Owens gets around on Rollins but Rollins is able to get out of the body lock. Owens goes after the leg of Rollins and then switches to working his arm. Owens drops him to a knee and remains in control of his knee. Rollins is able to land a kick up and reverse the hold. He gets Owens on the mat and goes for the cover but Owens kicks out. Sami provides a distraction to help Owens. Owens stomps on Rollins in the corner. Rollins reverse but once again Sami gets involved. On the other side of the ring, Rollins sends Owens to the floor. Rollins goes after him but Sami stops him. Owens runs Rollins into the barricade and then hits a DDT as Raw goes to break.
As Raw returns, Owens continues to work on the mid-section of Rollins. Owens taunts him and then goes for the cover but Rollins kicks out. Owens runs him into the turnbuckle and stays on the ribs. Owens lifts Rollins but Rollins fights off with a series of elbows. A headbutt and a few strikes and Rollins gets in control. Owens halts that for a moment before Rollins hits a sling blade. Owens gets back into it and tries a splash but Rollins gets his knees up to block. Rollins tries to go after Owens but Owens catches him with a right. Rollins and Owens then trade kicks before Rollins hits an enziguri to lay him out. Rollins goes up top but once again Sami comes in to interfere. Owens rolls up Rollins but Rollins kicks out. Rollins sends Owens to the floor and follows with a suicide dive. He hits Owens and Sami. Rollins hits a stomp but Sami pulls the ref out of the ring to stop the cover. Sami tells Cone that Rollins should be DQ’d for hitting him. Sami tries to plead with Rollins but Rollins has none of it and grabs him. Sami then calls for the bell after Rollins grabs his shirt. Owens wins by DQ.
*** After the match Rollins unloads on Sami. Corbin comes out and stomps on Rollins. Corbin hits him with a right and then stomps on Rollins arm. Corbin grabs a chair and brings it into the ring. Rollins is able to counter the steel chair attempt and Corbin runs. Rollins then uses the chair on Zayn. Rollins yells to Corbin and then hits Zayn once more. Rollins then continues the attack on Zayn after calling out Corbin once more. Rollins then takes the ref shirt off Sami and brings him back in the ring. Rollins then hits him with a stomp.
Winner: Kevin Owens: Via DQ
My Opinion:
Owens and Rollins had an okay match but of course, Rollins really got screwed over by Zayn. this is something that Rollins has to get used to though if he wants to retain his title at Stomping Grounds. Rollins is going to have a tough task ahead of him but this new found aggression will do him a lot of good. He made a statement tonight and he is ready to fight anyone at any time. Rollins is the champ we need so I hope he figures something out within the next two weeks.
Final Thoughts:
This wasn’t the most exciting Raw but I thought it was a pretty good one. First, I was really happy to see The Revival win the tag titles. They are so good and I think they will be better champs than Hawkins and Ryder just because they will actually be used more. The titles need that boost after being dragged around for the past two months. I was really impressed tonight by Lacey Evans. I didn’t think her’s and Lynch’s interview segment was the best but in the ring tonight Evans got it done. She carried her team and really dominated both champions. We also got some insight as to who might be the next guy in line to face Samoa Joe so hopefully, we find out soon. I thought the 24/7 title stuff was very funny as it’s been one of the most entertaining things going right now. Finally, the fight Rollins brought out at the end of the night was amazing. I love that aggression and that is what a true champ does. It’s going to be a lot for him to walk out of Stomping Grounds but with everything hanging over Rollins he just needs to take it one match at a time and continue to be the fighting champion he is!
Overall Rating: 5/10
