ECCW Ballroom Brawl 6 Predictions

Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling’s biggest event of the Summer, Ballroom Brawl 6 takes place tonight in Vancouver, BC Canada. ECCW has been a staple in independent wrestling here in the Pacific North West for over two decades and the two Ballroom Brawl events of the year have become their two biggest shows of the year. Its the show that takes place in the Commodore Ballroom, the same venue legendary bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam have performed in, among other bands. It’s a sold out show of over 1000 ECCW fans. From the moment Sweatervest introduces the show until the end, the crowd is lit.
This will be the first ever Ballroom Brawl I will be attending and snap chatting from on The Wrestling Classic snapchat (Username – wrasslinclassic). I’ve been working together with ECCW for the past year and they have welcomed me into their family with open arms, so I can’t explain how excited I am to be able to share this experience with all of you through my Snapchat story tonight. I did think it would be a great idea to give you guys a quick backstory of the matches, along with my predictions for the show beforehand. Although the show is missing some of my favourites such as Artemis Spencer, Tony Baroni, Daniel Adonis and Scotty Mac (who I am sure will make his presence known regrardless) due to injuries, ECCW still found a way to put out a solid card for this big event here in beautiful British Columbia.

If there was one word I could use to describe what this match is going to be…it would be entertainment. Xavier Galaxy and Andy Bird are two of the most entertaining wrestlers on the ECCW roster. Andy Bird is the high-flying, risk taking, energy filled and without an ounce of quit in him, crowd favourite. Andy Bird will fight until he can’t fight anymore, and the crowd is behind him the entire way. Xavier Galaxy on the other hand….he’s the self proclaimed sexiest man alive and he embraces his status as a sex symbol as he walks out to his theme song “Candy Shop” by 50 Cent. However, many fans would say he’s very confused and he’s more of a slimy, sleepy, disgusting dirt bag. In my mind though, Xavier Galaxy is one of ECCW’s most charismatic and entertaining characters on the roster. He may not be any single persons favourite, but everyone knows when Xavier Galaxy is wrestling, at least one time during his segment or match, you’ll find yourself wanting to laugh at his over the top antics.
This match will be one of highlights of the night mainly for the theatrics and comedic timing in the match. It will be a match that gets the The story behind this match was that when Galaxy was trying to find a Ballroom Brawl opponent by interrupting Scotty Mac’s Smacdown talk show to challenge Nicole Matthews, but after some drama where Andy Bird came out to help Nicole Matthews, Galaxy was left without an opponent. Therefore to secure his spot to steal the show at Ballroom Brawl, he set his eyes on Andy Bird. Andy Bird accepted. Ive never seen an Galaxy match where he didnt try to cheat his way to victory with many tricks up his sleeves. Yet against someone like Andy Bird, it’s going to take every trick Xavier has to keep Andy Bird from fighting to soar to victory.
Prediction – Andy Bird overcomes all of Galaxy’s sneaky tricks and picks up the victory.

In this match, we got three of ECCW’s most popular stars battling in a triple threat, trying to prove that they are simply the best at what they do. Originally, what was supposed to be Nicole Matthews facing “Beautiful” Billy Suede in a singles match but it was turned into a triple threat once the King of the Yukon threw his coonskin cap into the mix. The Ballroom Brawl events are the biggest events of the year and these three couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be on the card to showcase their skills in front of the sold out crowd. Nicole Matthews would be the fans choice to win this match, which isn’t a surprise as she is a former ECCW Champion and one of the greatest female wrestlers on the independents today. Matthews is the only female to hold the ECCW Championship since its existence.  The King of the Yukon is the wild card in this match and another fan favourite. The King is coming to Ballroom Brawl simply to find a fight and a fight is what he will get from his two technicians of opponents. If anything, The King of the Yukon is going to have to refresh himself of his technical wrestling skills rather than his brawling style, because his two opponents are more than likely to get the King in some wrestling holds rather than standing toe to toe, going punch for punch with the drunken brawler. Billy Suede is an amazing wrestler who lets his confidence, or rather cockiness get the better than him sometimes . However, Suede has the advantage of his manager the Goddess Mandy and injured tag team partner Tony Baroni looking out for his best interests. I predict they’ll either be at ringside or near by to get involved somehow. Also, Scotty Mac has had his issues with Matthews recently as well, maybe he’ll play a part in to this match causing Matthews the victory? I think these slight advantages in Suede’s favour are going to change the outcome of this triple threat battle.
Prediction – Beautiful Billy Suede picks up the victory due to outside interference.

In a grudge match the popular Shreddz takes on the recently returned Jamie Diaz. Its Ballroom Brawl, so I expect both these guys to bring their A Game. Shreddz is the crowd favourite here and the one I think the fans will be behind. Both of them have accomplished a lot in their careers and a victory here could launch either one of them as a contender for either Canadian Championship or ECCW Champion. These are two guys who have the ability to go above and beyond, what you’d accept from guys their size. It is hard for me to predict the outcome of this match, but I think there is a lot of potential for there to be a swerve or a new storyline blossoming here or it could just be a quality wrestling match with a clean finish. However, Jamie Diaz, a former member of “Egos and Icons” and tag team partner with Scotty Mac is no stranger to controversy. Regardless, I am looking forward to this match, and its hard for me to choose a winner.
Prediction – Shreddz picks up the victory.

The Bollywood Boyz have been reaching new heights in the wrestling world, and it isn’t sitting well with The Cunninghams. Does that mean that the fun loving Cunninghams are jealous or does it just mean they want to prove that they’re not only just as good but better than the Bollywood Boyz? What interest does the Natural have in the Bollywood Boyz? Will the Cunninghams finally get a victory over the Butterchicken Asskickin’ brothers? All these questions will be answered at the Commodore Ballroom. The Bollywood Boyz are coming fresh off their momentum of being involved in the WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic but have nothing to lose if they come up short in this encounter. The Cunninghams are the ones going into this match with everything to gain and tried of being overlooked. If the Cunningham’s win, it would really elevate them back into the tag title picture and open doors for them. Its brothers vs. brothers, and  the match is going to be incredible and full of action. The wildcard is The Natural if he decides to play a part in this match. It leaves a lot to the imagination, but could the Bollywood Boyz turn their back on their fans, and could the Cunninghams have been right about them the entire time? I swear this match is full of questions needing answers and because of that, it’ll have the fans sitting on the edge of their seats. I don’t see this feud ending at Ballroom Brawl, but if it does end here, I hope its with both teams shaking hands. I don’t think the Bollywood Boyz would buy into whatever Natch is trying sell. What if Natch helps the Bollywood Boyz win without them even requesting it? Ahhh..this match has so much potential to grow into something more.
Prediction – The Bollywood Boyz pick up the victory and the rivalry continues.

2016 thus far has been Ethan HD’s year. He is the current Canadian Champion, the 2016 Pacific Cup winner and becoming more and more popular every day. Ethan has been so consistent in delivering great matches at every ECCW show I’ve gone too in the past year that he was featured on, that its hard not to get behind him. However, Ethan’s former tag team partner of the AmeriKan Gunz Mike Santiago has not reached the levels of success Ethan has, and its finally gotten under his skin. Santiago set his eyes on Ethan HD and his Canadian Championship once Ballroom Brawl started drawing nearer and what better event than this one? It’s the perfect venue and event for Santiago to defeat his former partner, take his title, kill his momentum and have it go down in the history books. Who knows Ethan HD better then Santiago? Who knows Santiago better than Ethan HD? This match is going to be something very special, and I am really looking forward to it. I think when it comes to the American Gunz, it’s going to be about who ends up with the final shot.
Prediction – Ethan HD retains the Canadian Championship after a competitive match.

The Goodbrothers Pesky and Everest never back down from a challenge, and since winning the tag team titles that hasn’t changed. If anything, they are such fighting champions they were the ones who decided to defend the tag titles against the former tag team champions the West Coast Express, Nelson Creed and Alex Plexis in a TLC match. Tables, ladders and chairs…oh my. This is the match that will mostly have the entire Commodore Ballroom on their feet. Neither team is going to go down without a fight. It is going to be hardcore, whacky, extreme and off the walls. They might have to take a short break after this match because the energy of Goodbrother Everest a lone could have the crowd drained after the match. If you’re taking someone to Ballroom Brawl for the first time or someone who has never been to an ECCW show before until this particular one, make sure they don’t miss this tag team TLC match. In my opinion, The Goodbrothers chasing the titles makes a better a story and I don’t see this feud ending just yet. Personally, I can see The West Coast Express regaining the tag team titles and this rivalry between the two teams going throughout the Summer.
Prediction – West Coast Express regain the tag titles to continue their feud with the Good Brothers.

In Sid Sylum’s retiremet match, he goes against his former ally and rival  Bishop. There may be no other wrestler on the roster that knows Sid Sylum as well as Bishop does and vice versa. Sid Sylum showed up in ECCW in 2005, where he immediately made an impact and joined forces with Bishop and the Natural. Throughout Sylum’s entire career he has been aligned with Bishop and The Natural in some shape or form. Whether it was him being a member of Chilltown, feuding with Bishop or even becoming one of the most dominant tag teams in ECCW in the G.O.D.S along with Bishop, Sid Sylum’s career has always intertwined with Bishops. Its only fitting that Sylum’s final feud and match would be against Bishop and with The Natural at ringside. Sid Sylum was forced to retire due to a neck injury, but he wasnt ready to be done. He came back for one more match and that one more match was to be against Bishop. Bishop and Natural have done whatever they could to make sure Sylum regrets that decision, such as targeting his neck and attacking his girlfriend but all that did is ignite the fire more within Sid Sylum. They plan to put the period on the final sentence of Sid Sylum’s career at Ballroom Brawl, and just like everything Bishop and Natural do, it won’t be done with kindness. They’re going to make sure Sylum stays retired for good and the fact it happens to be Ballroom Brawl is more motivation for Bishop to be more aggressive, ruthless and violent in this match. This match is going to be memorable and these two former friends won’t hold nothing back and I do expect to see the Natural get involved and even take a couple of bumps too. I would not be surprised if this match closes the show.
Prediction – Bishop wins, but after the match he shakes Sylum’s hand.

Lucha Underground’s Brian Cage is coming to the Commodore Ballroom for Ballroom Brawl to face off against the ever charismatic, neon warrior and ECCW Champion El Phantasmo. I havent seen an El Phantasmo match I havent enjoyed yet and he really is one of the best wrestlers here in the Westcoast. EL P has been on a roll as of late and has yet to be defeated on his open challenge. The question now is if Brian Cage is El Phantasmo’s kryptonite. I know that EL P is a fighting champion, who takes on all comers but will Brian Cage be the one to stop all of El Phantasmo’s momentum? El Phantasmo is going to have to use his speed advantage to overcome Brian Cage, but I believe El Phantasmo will continue to prove why he is one of best wrestlers today and such a cult of personality. Brian Cage will bring his A Game and I can see him in charge most of the match. Overall, this match is going to be great.
Prediction – El Phantasmo picks up the victory, overcoming all odds.
