TWC Fantasy Booking – How I would of booked the WWE Roadblock Main Event.
Booking the finish to
WWE Heavyweight Championship
Triple H (C) vs. Dean Ambrose
at WWE Roadblock 03/12/16
I just wanted to start off mentioning, I had this idea of Triple H defending the title against Dean Ambrose on the road to Wrestlemania a week before they started the short feud between the two and even before they changed they changed the special events name to WWE Roadblock. I felt it would give Triple H something to do, while Roman was selling his “injury”. As well as it would be cool to see Triple H defend the title before Wrestlemania came around. Originally, in my concept, the match would have just taken place on Raw in the main event, after Ambrose talks Triple H into defending it against him. Although, this worked out even better with it being booked for a Network Special.
In my original scenario, I had this match end in chaos, benefitting both Wrestlemania matches. I don’t know why the WWE went that confusing route when booking this match about “If Ambrose wins the title, will he defend it against Roman Reigns or Triple H? Maybe a triple threat?”. Therefore, totally ignoring the fact the he was already booked to face Brock at Wrestlemania in a Street Fight. I don’t understand, were we supposed to believe that Brock didn’t care that his Wrestlemania match might have been cancelled if Ambrose won or his penciled in opponent for the biggest show might be going to Wrestlemania as the champion, in a match he was not involved in? In my original concept, if Ambrose won the title match then the Street Fight between Brock and himself would then be the main event at Wrestlemania for the championship and Roman vs. Triple H still happens out of revenge, or vice versa.
It would have added more depth to the WWE Title match at Roadblock. Also be kind of reminiscent of a scenerio before Wrestlemania 13, when Pyscho Sid defended the WWF Title against Bret Hart in a steel cage match. It lead to us witnessing “Stone Cold” Steve Austin trying to help his enemy, The Hitman win, so their Submission match could be for the title and the Undertaker trying to help his Wrestlemania opponent Sid, so their match would remain for the WWF title. It was such an odd thing to see opponents trying to help each other, but it worked and it was fun.
In my scenario the match would be coming to a close, with the referee knocked out by somehow while The Game and The Lunatic are going at it after what has already been a back and fourth brawl. Triple H gains the upper hand with a spine buster and continues laying a beat down on Ambrose. Then as Triple H is outside the ring to get his sledgehammer to finish off Ambrose because he won’t stay down, out comes Brock Lesnar. Leans would have still faces Harper earlier, so this would have been the second time Toronto saw the beast. Instead of focusing on Ambrose, Lesnar focuses of Triple H because he understand the opportunity to wrestle for the WWE Title at Wrestlemania if Ambrose wins. As Brock Lesnar and Triple H are staring down at each other from across the ring and swapping words, Heyman would be there trying to talk some sense into Lesnar. Therefore, stalling a brawl between Triple H and Brock Lesnar, because you know, even though Triple H is the champion, he’s also still the COO of the company.
The two finally go to blows in the middle of the ring, until Brock hits Triple H with a german suplex and The Game rolls out of the ring. In that time Ambrose gets up pulling himself up in the corner all beat and confused. Ambrose totally unaware that Lesnar is out there to help him win, so they can wrestle for the title at Wrestlemania, pounces on Lesnar like a madman with a fury of punches. Ambrose is decking Lesnar in the corner until, Lesnar gets the upper hand back by shoving Dean and runs towards him to hit a german suplex. Now Heyman looks shocked because Lesnar has lost it. Lesnar picks up Ambrose and hits him with a F-5. This leads to other referees and agents coming out to escort a pissed off Lesnar to the back while Heyman tries to calm him down. Its once Brock is gone, that Triple H gets back into the ring slowly and sets up Dean for the pedigree but Ambrose would reverse it and try going for his signature clothesline. However, Triple H would duck from it and Ambrose would turn around to actually get met with a kick to the gut and a pedigree for the three count.
Its at this point you can decide if Roman returns here on Roadblock because Triple continues the beatdown on Ambrose after the match or we stick what really happened the next night on Raw, with the whole Ziggler storyline and Roman returning after that match.
What would you have thought if the match ended like that instead?
TBH you booked it better
