WWE 205 LIVE REVIEW 12/06/2016
After a pretty successful first episode, 205 Live comes back with a brand new champion in Rich Swann, with Jack Gallagher picking up a win on Raw and still having some wrestler to debut in the show! Will Brian Kendrick recapture the title tonight? Will any other cruiserweight (fingers crossed it will be Gran Metalik) debut tonight? Let’s find out!
WWE brings the premiere episode of 205 Live to you from the Toyota Center at Houston, Texas on the WWE Network.
This week’s show starts with a video hyping Rich Swann and his backstory as well as his championship win last week.
1) Noam Dar vs. Cedric Alexander.
In a surprisingly good match with an unsurprisingly quiet crowd, Noam Dar defeated Cedric Alexander by pinfall after a kick to the head.
Opinion: This was a really solid 10 minute match which is why it is so frustrating to see such an uninterested crowd. Good to see both of these guys have such a solid match to be honest.
Dar is interviewed in the ring and he talks about the fact he is just a 23 year old and has a big money contract with WWE already.
A hype video is played to promote Mustafa Ali as a solid heel.
TJ Perkins is backstage wishing luck to Rich Swann. He says he has been really lucky for some time now, like when he beat TJP last night on Raw. Swann replied it’s better to be lucky than good and TJP said he is good enough to beat Brian Kendrick and “We’ll leave it at that”.
2) Jack Gallagher vs. Ariya Daivari.
In a solid match, following their previous match, Ariya Daivari defeated Gallagher by pinfall after a Frog Splash.
Opinion: It was nice to see Daivari working the knee during the match, acknowledging their last match but it was depressing to see how uninterested the crowd still was. It was also surprising to see Daivari pick up the win, a nice change of pace.
A Lince Dorado hype video is played.
TJ Perkins makes his way to the commentary table for the main event as both Brian Kendrick and Rich Swan make their way to the ring.
3) Brian Kendrick vs. Rich Swann. WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match.
In a good, not as good as last week’s, match, Rich Swann defeated Kendrick by pinfall after a kick to the head following a distraction from TJ Perkins. Rich Swann makes defence number 1 of his WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Opinion: Again, it was a really solid match, didn’t feel as hot as last week’s but still a really good match. Even TJP commentary wasn’t awful.
After the match, Kendrick went to attack TJP but Rich Swann came back to ringside, TJP tried to hit Kendrick with a Superkick but Kendrick ducked and Swann took the kick instead. Immediately, Kendrick drove TJP into the barricade and Kendrick went up the ramp as TJP and Swann stayed on the floor.
Final Thoughts:
That’s the second episode of 205 Live! What did you think of it? Better in ring action in my opinion with the exception of the main event, and it feels like the storylines and characters are developing nicely. It’s also worth mentioning how exciting it would be to see a triple threat between TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick and Rich Swann.
Final Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
