WWE Hell in a Cell 2018 Predictions
Hello Misfits! This is The Wrestling Classic here with my predictions for this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell. This year the event will be taking place at the AT&T Centre in San Antonio, Texas. It’s the one night of the year where you are guaranteed a couple of matches in the devils structure, the Hell in a Cell. There are six championship matches which one will be contested in the cell and two grudge matches which one will be contested in the cell. Smackdown provides us with some really personal feuds such as Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte, Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy, Miz and Maryse vs Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella and AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe. I’m sure things are only going to get more personal during and after this event. Raw has been chaotic since Roman Reigns dethroned Brock Lesnar of the Universal Championship and The Shield got the band back together. Rollins and Ambrose see if they can pick up where they left off prior to Ambrose’s injury by getting their hands on the team team titles by beating Ziggler and McInytre. Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman battle for the Universal Championship inside of the cell which may be the only place that can contain these two. Mick Foley is serving as the special guest referee and he is no stranger to the Hell in a Cell. Also The New Day defends their tag team titles against Rusev Day and Alexa Bliss gets her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship facing off against Ronda Rousey. I was 9-4 with my Summerslam predictions but there are only eight announced matches for this card so I think my odds might be better. Lets get to my predictions.
Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship
The New Day (C) vs. Rusev Day

A month ago there seemed to be a rift between the Rusev Day family but they found a way to get back on the same page and now Rusev and Aiden English with Lana in their corner are the number one contenders for the Smackdown Tag Team titles. The New Day beat the Bludgeon Brothers a couple of weeks back on Smackdown Live and became five time tag team champions. I think this would be the perfect match to kick off the show as it would set the pace for the show. I’d love to see Rusev Day walk out as new tag team champions though. Rusev Day has been over and its about time he won some gold while having all this momentum. I love The New Day but they dont need the titles to stay over or even stay relevant. I understand Rowen got hurt and they needed this belts off of the Bludgeon Brother but I think Rusev Day as the next champions would be something fresh and exciting for the popular duo. They could turn the match at the Australia super showdown into a triple threat.
Prediction – Rusev Day
Raw Tag Team Championship
Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre (C) vs. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins hope to pick up where they left off prior to Ambrose’s injury and get back to being the tag team champions. This time though they’re not facing off against Sheamus and Cesaro but rather the duo of Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. Seth Rollins has been feuding with Ziggler for months now over the Intercontinental Championship which also means he had to deal with McIntyre. It was two against one until Dean Ambrose returned to even the odds. My predictions this month are less about what I think is going to happen but more of what I want to happen. I’d love for tension to start brewing between Ambrose and Rollins and have it start here after a loss to Ziggler and Drew. I know they could hot potato the tag titles between the two teams for a couple of months, but I’d personally rather not see that.
Prediction – Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre
Smackdown Live Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair (C) vs. Becky Lynch
Image via WWE.com
Becky Lynch was going to her have her moment at this years Summerslam, beating Carmella and once again becoming the Smackdown Live Women’s Champion. However, that seemed a little less likely when her former best friend Charlotte Flair returned and found her way into the match. To add more fuel to the fire, Charlotte Flair walked out of Summerslam as the new Women’s Champion and Becky Lynch was not going to stand to the side, happy for her friend, just like that. It was Becky’s time in the spotlight and Charlotte just came and stole it. Now Becky Lynch has found a way to become the number contender for the Women’s Championship and faces off against Charlotte this Sunday. As much as I am rooting for the Irish Lasskicker, I see her emotions getting the best of her this Sunday and Charlotte capitalizing on that to retain the women’s championship. I do expect a rematch at Evolution or Super Showdown and that is where I see Becky Lynch ultimately becoming the new champion. I feel like this feud has a few months still left on it.
Prediction – Charlotte Flair
Raw Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey (C) vs. Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss definitely deserves her rematch as does every champion who loses their title. However, does anyone really believe Alexa Bliss to regain the championship, especially with how the match played out last month? I do see there being ways that Alexa Bliss could weasel out from this match as champion. There are a lot of women on the roster who seem to have accepted Ronda Rousey with open arms but have other intentions at mind. For example, everyone has been patiently waiting for Natalya to potentially turn on Ronda Rousey. Although, the feeling of that happening seems a lot less likely than it did a few months ago. Nowadays with the return of the Bella Twins it almost feels as if they might be the ones to double-cross Ronda Rousey, more specifically Nikki Bella. I’m sure we’ll see Alicia Fox and Mickie James in Alexa’s corner so will we see Natalya and Nikki in Ronda’s? We know Brie is going to be busy preparing for tag match with her husband so maybe this is Nikki’s spot. We have all heard the rumours about Nikki vs Ronda at Evolution, so do we find out if the rumours are true here or not just yet? I mean I shouldn’t forget that The Bella Twins are still teaming with Ronda on October 6th for the Australia Super Showdown. I also do think if that match happens its going to be for the Women’s Championship so I see Ronda Rousey retaining here.
Prediction – Ronda Rousey
Hell in a Cell
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton

Two legends who already have cemented their legacy and both are established enough to not suffer from a loss are in a personal rivalry that has led to them to square off inside the Hell in a Cell. If you’re wondering what these veterans who last had a feud in 2009 could be feuding over if their isn’t a championship involved or there not trying to make a name for themselves, its pretty simple, that its about respect. Randal doesn’t feel like he gets the same respect and praise Jeff Hardy does which he believes he rightfully deserves. What is he going to do about it? He’s going to destroy Jeff Hardy and any other superstar that the fans respect more than him. In the last couple of months we’ve seen Orton brutally attack Hardy and cost him important matches. Hardy only as of recent history has gotten the better of Orton. I think its Jeff Hardy’s daredevil antics that will cost him this match. However, the fans will be the real winners here getting another epic moment.
Prediction – Randy Orton
Daniel Byran & Brie Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
Image via WWE.com
Its another bump in the road in the very personal Daniel Bryan and Miz saga but not the actual blow-off match as of yet. This time the wrestling spouses of the two superstars are involved too. Brie Bella will be teaming with her husband Daniel Bryan to go to battle against The Miz and his wife Maryse. They are all former champions and in-ring performers so this match made sense. I personally enjoy that Brie and Maryse are involved in this rivalry in physical way rather than just being in their respective corners as managers. I do think this is just another chapter in the Daniel Bryan and Miz feud so whoever wins here won’t change the course moving forward. Considering Miz picked up the victory last month at Summerslam by cheating, I see Daniel Bryan and Brie getting redemption here at Hell in a Cell. I know they were the last ones standing tall on the go-home show of Smackdown which with the traditional mindset means they wouldn’t go over at the PPV but I think that theres an exception here. I do think Miz and Maryse will do something either at Hell in a Cell or the Smackdown following the show to really heat things up more in this rivalry. Regardless we get another happy Braniel moment this Sunday.
Prediction – Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella
WWE Championship
AJ Styles (C) vs. Samoa Joe
Image via WWE.com
OHHH WENDYY!!! This feud between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe continues to get more personal every week. I was shocked to find out that this match wouldn’t be contested inside the Hell in a Cell but it gives them more freedom to destroy each other all around the arena. These two have been friends and wrestling each other for over a decade and their chemistry is undeniable. The fact that they have written this feud to be as personal as it is, makes it all so much better. I feel like the story surrounding the match will really elevate the match. Unlike Summerslam though, I feel like we will have a clear and decisive winner rather than another DQ finish. I feel like AJ Styles defends his honour and pride as a father and husband a defeats Joe. I do think there will be another match down the road though and I definitely see Joe getting the best of Styles ending his lengthy reign as WWE Champion. However, for Hell in a Cell, the Phenomenal One retains only to anger Joe more.
Prediction – AJ Styles
Hell in a Cell
Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (C) vs. Braun Strowman
Special Referee – Mick Foley
Image via WWE.com
Braun Strowman is cashing in his Money in the Bank on Universal Champion Roman Reigns and he has the cell to secure that nobody can interrupt his cash in. There will be no Brock Lesnar or Shield to ruin his moment. Mick Foley was announced as the special referee this past Monday to make sure these two stick to the rules as much as possible inside the cell considering the bad blood between them which spans over two three years. I mean we’ve seen Braun try to kill Roman Reigns on television on more than one occasion in the past. I also recall a handful of times that Roman tried to murder Braun on television too. Maybe it was good to have a maniac like Foley in the middle of things. I think Roman becoming Universal Champion was a long-time coming and even though I think Braun should have already been or be the current Universal Champion, I dont see it happening this Sunday. Will Braun lose his opportunity to cash in for a title shot? Yes. Did he ever really need a briefcase to earn a shot in the first place? No. I would be more than happy to see Braun win this Sunday but if history tells us anything, Roman is the chosen won so Roman wins.
Prediction – Roman Reigns
